  1. I don't think that is correct. I have never heard of such a rule and I don't see it in rule 4.10 here: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/start_end_4.jsp
  2. My cable is back on the TV with the digital box, but not the one without.
  3. It's an official game after the losing team has batted in the 5th. So, yes if they finished the top of the 5th and Detroit were ahead, it would be official.
  4. Are others losing FSN-WI? I'm wondering if it's a TWC problem or FSN. This is about the third game this year with the broadcast randomly being lost in the rain.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  5. Schroeder said that Billy knew he got it...uh no, he now apparently watches about every long fly ball he hits and that one just happened to actually make it out, rather than being a double or an out like several other ones he has watched recently.
  6. Fantastic! I just got off the phone with Jake, I called to see if I could get seats that were more to my liking than the default that the website was giving. Took about a minute to get just what I wanted. The $1 per ticket service charge is a great bonus over the usual (and somewhat ridiculous) $3+ per ticket and $2 per order to print or $4 to mail.
  7. ...and with that Bill Hall attains the Mendoza line
  8. Actually there has not been a single one built since MIller Park. The last 8 new ball parks have been open air. The marlins will have a roof and the twins will not. So that will be 90% of 10 parks built after miller being roofless. BTW, during a recent day game the announcers indicated the worst visibility for the batter (apparently as reported to them by the players) is when the pitcher and the hitter are in the roof shadow, but the background (meaning the outfield, not just the batter's eye) is in bright sunshine. There is nothing short of closing the roof on all sunny days that will correct that problem. Other alternatives would be to permanently remove the roof and convert MP to an open air stadium or retrofit a revised roof design that stacks up in the outfield.
  9. It was mentioned that Macha had said something about this in Sunday's J-S, so I am sure the coaching staff and Hardy are aware of it.
  10. Gallardo seems to be having these kind of starts quite a bit...a lot of pitches, guys all over the bases, but not too many runs. His last start I think he was at or over 50 pitches in the first two innings and tonight he is over 60.
  11. Yes, if it is 65 degrees and you wear flip-flops, shorts, and a t-shirt and have seats in the shade...too bad, you are a dope and I should not have to have the roof closed and heat on to accomodate your foolishness. Agree that they should put out that information on the roof "forecast"...eg. "50% chance roof open today". They should also state ballpark temp forecast...eg. "63-69 deg, feels like temps will be as low as 58 in shade, and as high as 82 in sun". The only reason for putting in A/C would be to reduce humidity on days when it is hot and humid and the roof is closed due to rain. I could see if they did have A/C, though, that some fans would start complaining that they were not closing the roof on hot days, when there is no chance of rain.
  12. Oh what a great time for your first slam, Prince!!!!!!!!
  13. Perhaps not, but being fooled by a pitch from time to time does not make him craptastic, either.
  14. There'd be no need to appeal... just throw to 1st base. It appears that depends on what had happened during the intervening period: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0FCI/is_6_61/ai_85481742/ I had always wondered why an "appeal" was required, rather than just throwing to the base, when it is thought that a runner may have left early.
  15. Not up there with Randy Johnson killing a bird with a pitch, but the video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBc9SZ0CbrE It'd have been funnier had the ball hit the gull before bouncing, especially if the fielder were set to catch it.
  16. Awnings are the answer, functional and attractive http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.wmblanchardco.com/newpics/awnings-alum-1.jpg
  17. Gamel has gotten plenty of starts, he has not been used just as a pinch hitter. He started on Thursday (and may have cost us the game with his glove) and at that point he had started 5 of 6 games.
  18. Adding insult to injury...71% of the text message vote goes to retro uniforms http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif...ugh.
  19. It's tight race between him and Hall to see who gets there first.
  20. Yeah, otherwise they might have moved some other infielder to the OF...oh, wait.
  21. Yesterday was unusal, due to the late start. The normal situation for open roof day games, is the shadow situation shown below. How would even blacking out the windows help with this? As I said, the only "solution" would be to close the roof for every game. I'm sorry, but even if Ryan Braun wants that, I do not. http://www.onmilwaukee.com/images/articles/mi/millerparkchillysunday/millerparkchillysunday_story1.jpg The light from the windows reached home after 4:30 yesterday...so I am still curious as to how a batter is affected by that earlier, during the more typical times when the game is being played., say 1-4 pm?
  22. But who else would have the insight to be shocked that a pitcher, who spent his entire career in the NL, has only faced the White Sox twice?
  23. For some reason Macha thinks about considerations besides what might be best for Matt Gamel. I know that is shocking to many here http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif.
  24. Actually not so much, I think. The "best" conditions would be when the pitcher is in sun and batter in shadows or visa-versa. With the late start they were both in shadows. In about another 1/2 hour the sun through the window will start hitting hime plate.
  25. Y'know in the early part of this inning I decided, before I buy any tickets I'm gonna avoid any game where it looks like it would be Para's turn. Now, I'm expecting this not to be an issue as I'm not planning any trips to Nashville.
