  1. Strange, I have TWC and they have beach volleyball on FS (the info thing says MLB baseball...but they always have that wrong when the game is on WMLW).
  2. Earlier B&B said Looper is pitching Monday and in the pregame I think they said Yo ws going Wednesday? Did they say who was going Tuesday...are they moving Bush up to Tuesday?
  3. I believe that the rule change was for a tie game, if it is an official game and tied then it is suspended and they pick up the game where they left off. It used to be that a game like that would have to start over, I think.
  4. Don't know for sure, but I would assume so. It landed in the Brewers' bullpen.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif I think we'd have heard about it if, say, Julio was holding out for signed bats from 3 other players.
  5. Your post is better with the video: Since I personally believe the new 0.08 limit is excessively low, and Tony blew 0.093, which is below what had been the limit until quite recently, I think he probably was mostly just tired, as he said (of course he should not have been driving, given that he fell asleep in an intersection). But, and I can not believe no one has pointed this out, I think his untucked shirt was very disrespectful to the arresting officers. I really think they'd have let him go if not for that.
  6. What they are is too cheap to shell out for a roof. Real baseball fans would have done whatever it took to ensure that the game would alway go on. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. Hall actually hit his 100th the other day. Arghhh, and here I already had my attorney writing up a contract with my list of demands for Hall to sign http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif He hit one in that afternoon game, that was not on TV, didn't he...that must have been it. I assume he got it back without incident.
  8. Is going to a ball game is essentially like going to Kohl's, or Pick and Save, or buying and selling stuff on Ebay or craigslist, purely a business transaction? Is collecting balls and trading them HY's own small business? If it is a business the usual method of exchanging things of value is to use money, because that is a lot simpler and in this case, less emotional than barter. If I buy a souvenir from a business, they do not ask me to go on a quest to obtain something they want from my neighbor, nor do they ask me to pose for a picture with the owner of the business.
  9. Bill Hall at 99...hmm, could it take a week http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. Well, he could certainly have said "no, I want to keep the ball, I'm sorry but I'm not interested in trading for anything". Why didn't he if it was so significant to him? I guess if I had caught something like that I'd maybe ask the player what he could give me in exchange or what else he could give me after the initial offer, rather than to start off by making demands...especially demands for other player's stuff. If it were an unknown player from another team, I'd even settle for some cash as I am not a collector. If it were a Brewer, the best thing to me would be to get an official jersey from the player...even if it had to be an old one that they are done using. If that's not possible, maybe they'd give me $150 and I could buy one. Since I am usually sitting in foul territory, I'm not too likely to ever be in such a situation. Although I'll be in Minnesota's "home run porch" in left field next weekend. Are there any HR milestones coming up that I should know about? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif If he wanted a Ramirez bat, maybe he'd have been better off to say "how about $150, so I can buy that Ramirez bat I've always wanted ...being a big Marlins fan and all".
  11. Thanks, since I don't know too much about trading rules, options and all that sort of thing, I thought maybe there was some rule that I did not know about. I assume they could not just send him to the minors, if he did not agree to go, because of those sorts of rules.
  12. That is what is called an exxageration, which makes the point that the most important factor is not always going to be to "get it right". If getting it right, via more extensive use of replay, legthened the average game by 10% I'd be against that...because it would be about 15 minutes of nothing happening...umpires trudging off the field to review a call, etc. "Getting it right" needs to be balanced with keeping the game enjoyable. Football limited the provisions for "getting it right" to 2 opportunities per game (etc.) for a reason. However, to me there is too much replay foolishness in Football. I would not want to see that much in baseball. Now technology that can help make correct calls in real time or near real time, would be another matter. On balls and strikes, I think you may still need the umpire to have the final say if the weaknesses of systems like questec, would be considered to be a problem: But if there were a way to relay to the umpire instantaneously that the tracking system says "ball" or "strike", he could consider that information in making his call. Maybe a pitch was so close that it could go either way and so he goes with what the system says.
  13. Why is it that the Brewers could not have traded him and gotten something in return?
  14. Interesting that a cop thinks it's okay to steal baseballs from bullpens, via some double secret "glove trick", while trying to avoid being caught by the Miller Park security guards. From HY's blog: With regard to this HR ball, he kind of implies that maybe he did not even give the real ball back: I too feel like...I've been sucked into a seedy, underground world that I didn't know existed, and each step I take leaves me a little more disgusted. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  15. Well, I'd normally have a name, address, and phone number for any craigslist tickets I'd buy, so not too worried about them being phoney. I've also alway gotten hard tickets, not printouts, so those would be pretty hard to fake anyway. Going through the hassle of selling fake tickets on craigslist would be a pretty inefficient way for someone to steal $100 or $200 from me. Stub hub would be more convenient, though and certainly is an easier way to search for tickets than craigslist.
  16. Same here. "Ball hawk" really???...seems like an odd hobby for an adult. This is about as odd as the guy who showed up in a full Brewers uniform in Minn. I think it is funny when adults sit in the ball park with a glove on...really, getting a ball is that important to you? I've never gotten a ball in my life, but I stopped really caring about it when I was maybe 15.
  17. That was a bizarre move, unless Rivera is hurt or not yet 100%.
  18. I did not see it in the listings. I don't think they have done one this year, perhaps that experiment is dead???
  19. Assuming Bush's spot does not come up, why not see if he can get through 8. Macha does not seem to worry about making mid-inning pitching changes.
  20. I would say the overriding factor is to have an enjoyable sport to watch. I'm not saying what they have now is a problem, but replay could certainly be overdone. Suppose every call including every ball and strike were reviewed on replay to ensure they "get it right". What if all this made the average game last 5 hours. Would it be worth it to "get it right"?
  21. I was happy before the season started when Macha made a reference to Earl Weaver. Then in their first game they were running like crazy and successfully, that was confusing. We'll see what they actually do now, but I am not a fan of a lot of running.
  22. It looked to me like the ump had gone down the line. He must have had his eyes closed to miss that call, in any case. He was standing on the line looking right at the foul pole, his boss should be asking him what the problem was...why did you miss such a simple and obvious call?
  23. I think it is normal for direct tv and one reason I stay with cable (although FSW seems to go out a lot with rain).
  24. That was a horrible call, how can the guy standing right there on the foul line miss that? Glad it was reversed and quickly.
