  1. Does Cain even remember the last time he had multiple hits in the same game?
  2. Give Lauer a lot of credit for fighting back to get through 5 tonight. I wonder if you try for 6?
  3. You'd like to think Cain could at least avoid GIDP
  4. Even for a lights out closer I just don't consistently see the returns for the Crew being good enough. An offseason retool trade of a veteran starter to promote healthy and slow rotation turn over makes more sense to me, but on balance I see us holding Hader all the way through for the comp pick and how ever many major league seasons we can get.
  5. Returning from the DL just in time to crush the hopes and dreams of a division rival is the definition of classy.
  6. I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing game threads day after day where our starting pitcher always makes me feel like it should be a competitive game or a big advantage for us.
  7. For all the times over the years not getting it done, nothing wrong with any kind of go ahead RBI late in the game in my book either. Taylor is seemingly quite clutch in general across his career
  8. Can Turang play 2nd well? Not so much for this year, but Wong's bat plays well with the generally above average defense. If that doesn't return you have to wonder if it's the first sign of decline and there's is that chance for a cheap and effective internal replacement next year.
  9. I want to see Hiura get more ABs, he raised his OPS again yesterday. It's time to see if he has figured out the hitting again for a longer duration. A guy like Mathis makes sense if you anticipate it being a very short roster stay in between injuries.
  10. I don't think I'm up for the whole top 20 just yet, but I will say that while a high ceiling is important, guys with good tools/ pedigree and performance who are performing at AA and AAA will always edge out lower levels guys like Chourio. Don't get me wrong he is way up there for me, but Weimer, Small, and Turang are all doing more than enough at high levels to be duking it out on top for me.
  11. Yelich back to being an asset helps so much on the long term outlook too. I'm hoping they find a solid price for an upgrade on CF as well, but I want to see a bunch of those OF prospects cycle in as the next young talent to keep things rolling.
  12. I would guess someone else gets the call for the 4 days before Small would be scheduled to start. With the DH it seems less important to add extra players for strategy reasons, but another bullpen arm would make sense for a few days in case we need to use it heavily again.
  13. Brock allow me to recommend Pathfinder and Starfinder to cure your D&D boredom. Public play options in the Twin Cities https://www.meetup.com/msp-pathfinders/ I follow baseball, teach science, and play table top RPG's, so I think it's fine. Historically we've had a lot of programmers in the area participate.
  14. It would explain a lot and be pretty savy in terms of maintaining maximum flexibility, they could also move other players off the AAA roster if they felt the need.
  15. I missed yesterday's game so in addition to Woody, Burnes, Lauer, and now Peralta Ashby had 8Ks in just the 4 innings of relief.
  16. Taylor comes up clutch again by provoking the wild pitch
  17. Urias has started pretty hot this year, only failed to be on base in 1 game so far
  18. Impact almost certainly is calculated using a method based on win probability change. The difference between a lead-off walk and a leadoff strikeout in the 8th inning of a tie game is even more noticeable in a low scoring game with few baserunners at all.
  19. Turang might be kind of interesting as a bridge when combined with more Taylor.
  20. Mitchell and Weimer both already with a couple of hits tonight through 4 innings.
  21. Even with the Yelich resurgence I see all the OF talent at AA and I'd really love to be able to bring some of those guys up in the next couple of years and have cheap internal candidates as our pitching gets more and more expensive. So I'd rather not deal at a high price to fill the hole/ manage by reducing Cain's playing time and shifting over to Taylor. I'd be willing to, but I doubt a true blockbuster where we'd get a megatalent for a few years emerges, so I'd only be inclined towards a minor bench upgrade type deal with a much smaller farm impact.
