  1. Anyone remember the bomb he hit at Miller Park that caromed off the windows of the 300/Metavante/Johnson Controls Club about 2/3 the way up? They panned to Fielder's reaction in the dugout and he was going a bit nuts.
  2. Add Rickie Weeks to this - and also remember that Gomez got hit in back to back ABs last night.....
  3. Whatever you need to tell yourself. Anyway, the team just looks absolutely horrible right now. They can't possibly play this bad the rest of the month...can they??? I don't know. I turned off last night's game after the second inning. It was obvious the team has no fight going right now. They need to snap out of this funk they're in, and quick. I stuck it out until the 3rd last night. It looked like they might scratch and claw a few runs out, then everything just deflated when Braun got caught stealing. That sealed it - the team just looked dead after that.
  4. That's a common play when runners are on first and 3rd. I wouldn't blame anyone but Braun for swinging. The only thing I'd blame Rickie for is hesitating - either take off or stay.
  5. Looks like McCutchen has a broken rib, not an oblique issue..... http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/08/05/report-andrew-mccutchen-has-a-broken-rib-not-an-oblique-strain/
  6. McCutchen will probably go on the 15-day DL today with an apparent oblique injury. People are trying to connect the dots between the injury and the beaning (in the comments): http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/pirates/2014/08/04/Pirates-McCutchen-expected-to-be-place-on-15-day-disabled-list/stories/201408040153#ixzz39SS8Z3vJ
  7. Look - I said it way earlier, but you could see Garza stretching his side in the 6th. There is a measure of plausibility that he tweaked his oblique..... BUT - it didn't look that bad.... I'd just like for RRR to say pulling him was precautionary. That would make me feel better... Since he didn't - Not sure what to believe.
  8. Garza seemed to be trying to stretch something out on the mound in the 6th... Looks more precautionary.....
  9. Thought it was interesting that Reynolds and Davis were in the lineup today against a RHP, but the splits against Lackey probably bear out Roenicke's thinking: Against RH hitters: .273/.316/.410/.716 Against LH hitters: .244/.282/.412/.695
  10. I'm actually shocked Matheny isn't "challenging" saying Lucroy was blocking the plate without the ball..... The way the rule is called this year......
  11. Lohse is still in the game. No it's not, fyi. Give it up - when 7 runs are scored against you, a team does not win because of you.
  12. McCutchen won the GG in '12...when he posted a -0.2 dWAR (but his .953 OPS made up for it...)
  13. From Roenicke's quote here, it was unexpected.... Jean Segura is hit by horrible personal tragedy
  14. Yeah...the 4th pitch should have been a strike to even it up at 2-2...Gameday had it completely in the zone. But...he still might serve up that meatball.....
  15. Where did this come from? And where can I find the whole video? It looks like they lit some paper on fire and tossed it at his feet for the excuse to throw water his way? If so, that's a great gag and I'd love to see the whole video. Here's the article: http://wapc.mlb.com/cutfour/2014/06/27/81884022/scooter-gennett-and-the-brewers-are-literally-on-fire
  16. Gennett's literally on fire....from last night: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/8/3/6/81892836/Gennett_on_fire_sse4l2y0.gif
  17. No - I can flip between FSN and ESPN2 to watch the game.
  18. Not sure why LeMahieu took his sweet time on that turn....Segura with a great slide.
  19. I understand that, but Rickie has culpability for that runner being on base to begin with. Believe me, when both guys stole without even a throw, I wanted to throw things at the tv. I'm with ya on that - not meaning to take any responsibility from Weeks on that.
  20. I hope this isn't a one-up contest....... I'm afraid of what we'll see later......
  21. One - Peralta's to blame for letting Stubbs move up to 2nd on the steal. Stubbs would never have been on base if Rickie had handled a routine double play ball. Just because he was on base, that shouldn't absolve Peralta from spacing out and letting runners move up. He still had control to get out of that situation.
  22. One, IMO. Yes, Rickie botched the DP - but Peralta's to blame for letting Stubbs move up to 2nd on the steal.
