  1. Well, considering I was figuring out whether it was going to go Hart DP followed by a Counsell K or a Hart K followed by a Counsell DP, I suppose getting one there was something. That run lost on the ground rule double looms larger now. Be nice to see Villy get a nice inning in here.
  2. Well this is a horror show. I feel like I've gone back in time to the glory days of Matt Wise and Ned Yost. Perhaps we can bring in Mota and Gagne the next couple of innings?
  3. First time I've heard that story, thanks for sharing, very cool. /going to go hug my kids
  4. I hope he posts this to deadspin. EDIT - already up on deadspin, and HY blog is now gone. Well, all the blog entries are at least.
  5. I personally would never try to get a ransom for a ball like that. If you choose to behave that way, that's your prerogative, I don't agree with it at all, but that's your right to ask the ballplayer for something in return. Like someone mentioned earlier, I believe that by not asking for a bunch of stuff, the player/team would still give you something in return, and it very well could be more than you expected. That being said, there are a few things that I can't agree with: 1. Asking for something from a different player. Just classless, not relevant, and demeaning to the player. Ask Coghlan for whatever you want, asking Coghlan to get stuff from different players is overstepping the bounds of decency in my opinion. 2. Playing the salary and profession card. By HY introducing his salary and profession into the conversation, he immediately now looks solely like he's trying to milk a player for money/items of value. This turns from a "collector" looking for a trade to a poor attempt at sympathy for the poor cop only making 50K. To me, doing this really eliminates any of your "but, I'm just a passionate collector". No you're not. Your stated goal is to get balls specifically to get something out of the rich ball players that make so much more than a hard working diligent cop. I'm sorry, but you doing this completely exposes what you're trying to do, and playing the whole passive aggressive thing just makes you look worse in my opinion.
  6. It's amazing not expecting the absolute worst every 9th inning.
  7. Sure is nice to not be the team that jumps all over the starter for 1-2 innings and then shuts down. Awesome job by Villy and DiFelice.
  8. So, this is what good pitching looks like? 60 pitches thru 5, would be really nice to get some rest for the pen today.
  9. Ah yes, the classic Brewers move, scoring no runs after having bases loaded and no outs.
  10. Well, I came home to pitcher's duel I see. Hart can tie this right back up here.
  11. I was 6 during his rookie year and I do have memories of my dad watching him, and I specifically remember the All Star Game that year. What a bummer. I spent some time looking at his 1976 year, holy cow... 5 games where he threw 10+ innings. 24 complete games. Wonder how many pitches he threw in those 10+ inning games...
  12. Worst case you get 2 back here, could have been worse.
  13. Just a knock would be fine Prince. Gotta get at least a couple back this inning.
  14. 5 runs on 2 hits. Soup can't even make it out of the 4th.
  15. Sigh. Part of me thinks walking Soriano was better than grooving him a meatball.
  16. Sure would be nice to get out of this with only 1 run. Huge AB for Soup here.
  17. Thanks I figured I missed something like that. I was also hoping that line of thinking had ended with the previous regime, but alas.
  18. Bush here? Never mind the results, I'm just surprised you go Bush here. Not being snarky, did I miss something and he's not starting?
  19. Now that I'm out of my meetings I can follow along. I see Soup was being Soup. Top of the order, let's get one back here.
  20. The Yankees are a fantasy team. In a Yahoo public league. The casual league. Playing with 9 other clueless owners (probably redundant on a Yahoo public league). Screw it, give them Tex and Sheets and Manny.
