  1. You mean the '21 bench is better than the '03 sunflower seed spitters? That collection of splinter-grabbers featured such luminaries as Pete Zoccolillo, Keith Ginter, and The Immortal Brady Clark....better known as the Brady Bench!

  3. Sophia kind of looks like that cute blonde paramedic on Chicago Fire. She's no Tatyn Hatcher (Google her - the Philadelphia Flyer players have been hitting on her, during her on-camera interviews), but she'll do.
  4. Prepare for lectures on how to think and post... Is extemporaneous venting, especially in an in-game thread, still allowed here?
  5. You guys DO know that I l've posted angry, over-the-top hot-takes, consistently, for years at Brewerfan, as a therapeutic way of venting, yeah? Beats kicking my dog....OK, my neighbor's dog. My 52nd Opening Day as a Pilots/Brewers fan, and still no ring. I think I can be cut some slack.
  6. Migod, how many baserunners have we stranded? Minnesota cashes them in. That's been the difference. And while I get it, that LoCain is a great guy, and apparently a role model as a dad, after opting out last year, and watching that commercial with his sons again and again, to my dumb ass at least, it feels like that's where his head's at. Set, financially for life, dozens of times over, it seems like there's no way he plays in '22...maybe not even this summer.
  7. Nice path to the ball, LoCain. And some poor at bats. Maybe he'll play 4 games this year, before opting out. By the way, Sophia is foin. New Nose or Classic Nose, I'm in.
  8. So if Narvaez can't hit anymore, and he makes such awkward positioning block ling balls in the dirt, why is he still here?
  9. Migod, if I added together the birthdays of my family, my number would look like I'm a non-roster invitee.
  10. As a fan of my sports teams, 41 is Jim Slaton, but #41 Phil Villapiano, who famously punched the Patriots' owner, is the man!
  11. Hey, the Stearns Playbook is way better than the Bando Playbook, and I guess better than the Doug Melvin plan. I just find it odd that DS suddenly prioritizes defense, after Moustakas at 2B, Hiura at 1B, etc. And after our offense struggled mightily, the answer must be...defense! But OK, I'll lay off Stearns for now, as I set my sights on Counsell burning out our pen again! (sidebar: can a mod get in there, and change that 8 in my name to a lower-case " i "? Drives me nuts!)
  12. [\quote] So are you happy with Bradley, who was on the Red Sox 2018 World Series championship team, and whose three playoff HRs that year helped them win it all? Yeah, I am, monty. But it IS in the David Stearns Playbook to allocate resources to areas we're not desperate for, while forcing square pegs like Moose-Tacos into 2B, and Braunie and Keston into their round hole at 1B. Next year? "Hey, let's open the season with Yelich behind the plate!! Better slugging catcher than Realmuto!!
  13. Did Hader really choke against Washington though? He struck out the first batter. He hit the second guy, but it looked like ball hit the knob of the bat & should have been ruled a foul ball, but wasn't. He struck out the next batter. Zimmerman hit a broken bat, bloop single. He was careful with Rendon, who walked. Soto singled & the tying/go ahead runs scored on an error. Even if you want to qualify that one outing with at least three bad luck outcomes (erroneous HBP, broken bat blooper, E9) as a choke, Hader allowed zero runs in his other eight postseason appearances covering 11.1 innings. That's essentially setting the standard at never allow a run ever, which seems like a pretty unrealistic expectation to me. Well argued, I know. But, to quote Robert Plant, "and it makes me wonder.... " why the national stage is always too big for the Brewers, when they could finally break through, and reach the franchise's ultimate goal. I know the stats guys will deride this line of thinking, but it kind of comes down to having "big-time players," ones who have major postseason success...guys who tend not to fold, when the chips are down. Those guys, like Justin Turner, are expensive, and of course Mark did at least see the value in trying to bring him in. Think the Cubs would have won in '16 without experienced leaders like Lester, and Heyward, and *gulp*, even Chapman? The Padres are following that line of thinking now, and I'm jealous!
  14. I hear ya, Sveum, but he did choke against Washington. And yeah, I'm salty, seeing small market KC and Minnesota win multiple titles, Tampa winning the pennant again, and San Diego's ownership stepping up in such a big way, while the bar has been set so low, that our fans are OK with a losing season. Hey, maybe in 2022, Manfred will expand the playoffs to 32 teams! Every MLB franchise...plus...hear us out, fans, not one, but TWO minor league teams! Round 1: Top-ranked Dodgers vs. the Durham Bulls, and the Yankees can face their AAA affiliate!
  15. Now we don't like first round playoff exits? We've become spoiled. Well you have anyway. Dude. I was a fan of Skip Lockwood and Gus Gil. So I think I've earned some impatience with the playoff stage being too bright for Hader, Suter, Gallardo...hell, Pete Ladd. I want a ring before I freakin' die, so yeah, playoff chokes don't do much for me.
  16. First off, thanks, RRB! You're still Joe Meyer Bombs to me! For whatever reason, my thousands of posts from the 90s didn't follow me, and there's still a damned 8 in my name! Anyway, I just can't get excited about Narvaez and Pina, so I'm not inclined to re-evaluate that line of thinking anytime soon. Grandal & Pina? Loved it. Narvaez and Manny? Yikes.
  17. Since I remain skeptical about LoCain at 35 and a year away from the team, this is just OK. If we were to somehow pry Kyle Seager from Seattle, I'd make my peace with the gaping hole at catcher and our 3/4/5 starters, and dare to dream of another 1st round playoff exit. But with the godawful Travis Shaw / Luis Arias combo platter at 3rd, and so many bad catchers, it seems that once again, Stearns prioritized something we don't really need. If David volunteered at a food pantry, he'd take care of the homeless with "Tattoos for everyone!"
  18. Couldn't agree more. I don't expect Vogelbach to be even as good as Eric Thames was, Narvaez had 1 good season, Urias is overmatched, Avisail is below average, Counsell will be tempted to give Sogard 500 PAs, and Cain (who was fading anyway) may not feel like playing again. Otherwise, we're great!
  19. Kim Ng apparently put in the grunt work, earning this job...unlike my namesake, Wendy Selig-Prieb, whose only qualification was to be Bud's offspring. I remember her embarrassing our team by offering key front office positions to her teenage crush, Paul Molitor, every other winter. After he gave her the finger the first time, she should have shown some pride, and stopped begging...
  20. Seriously, though, after a home game ends, wouldn't it be a baller move to have a chauffeur ready to drive you back to your mansion on Beer Baron Row, instead of unceremoniously having to drive home alone? LaRussa can afford a fleet of limos, and a team of drivers. He IS a "Hall of Fame baseball guy" and I'd wager that Reinsdorf is enriching TLaR's bank account, by a few mil more. Hell, LaRussa, SOBER, is possibly too old to keep getting that driver's license renewed. So fortheloveofgod, keep this 76-year-old drunk off the streets of my town!
