Reminder that with Willy Adames, the Brewers are averaging 5.2 runs per game (4th best in the majors). Without Adames, the Brewers are averaging 3.8 runs per game (2nd worst in the majors).
The Brewers are blessed. Uecker, BA, Levering, Grindle, and Lepay would all be #1 guys in some other markets. The fact all of these guys want to be part of the Brewers is a credit to the franchise and the city.
Since the all-star break, Lauer, Houser, and Ashby have outperformed Woodruff and Peralta. That won’t impact who starts the first three games, but it likely impacts the leash on the starters.
Could the Brewers get an Adames-type return by trading one or both of their young, effective (but non-top 3) starters to a pitching-starved team such as the Twins? Could a star position player like Alex Kirilloff be attained? With Ashby and Small in the wings, perhaps the Brewers could take advantage of their pitching surplus to continue to add young stars to the roster.
