  1. There is no "My Computer" in Windows 7. This whole thing is stupid.
  2. Thanks for that casey, but I'm not talking just about purchases. I'm talking about 400 CDs that I don't really want to copy all over again.
  3. Well, I bought a Toshiba Satellite A660. So far so good with the computer, Windows 7 is very nice. However I just started the whole Itunes adventure... FIB4BREW, I downloaded CopyTrans. I have a couple questions. First off, do I use the first option (CopyTrans) or ICloner to get my Ipod on to my computer? I have tried CopyTrans (the first option) and it copies 54 songs, and on song 55 The Allman Brothers "One Way Out" it hangs up and freezes. I've done it twice with the same result. Any thoughts? I'm not optimistic, and wait for you (or anyone else) to reply.
  4. I always have a price in mind from the research I have done on the car and also a price in mind on what I am trading in. The first new car I bought three years ago or so, They gave me $1000 more or so than what I was expecting on my trade in, and the price of the car was around what I expected so I made a deal. I bought another new car this summer and again, the total price in mind was lower than I expected, I got more than I was expecting for my trade in, and my payments were $35 less a month for the 2010 version than they were for the 2007. I'm not a good haggler, I don't like dancing around the issues. If it's a deal that you feel is fair or better than you expected after doing your research, I'm a believer in getting it done. My dad, and other older guys will haggle and haggle and hem and haw, but personally I think that's just wasting everyone's time. They're from another era. Of course you could always try the "Can you do better?" but in my experience they don't. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I would assume you're financing, but if you're paying cash that's a whole different ball game.
  5. Does anyone have any suggestions for a Windows 7 laptop, docking station, and external hard drives? I don't want the cheapest, but doesn't have to be the top of the line for what I do either. I would love to take a trip to Best Buy and get everything I need. Thanks in advance.
  6. I was running Avast. An IT guy at work looked at it, and actually told me what happened before I told him. Some Microsoft message claiming that I had something go very wrong and needed to download something to fix it and would not go away then just crashed never to turn on past a black screen again. Going through all the stuff, it wasn't even recognizing the hard drive, tried to repair the issue with a disk, no change after the whole thing. The computer is actually working now, but it is bare bones, nothing installed, and I am just going to get a new one, but I'll try to get the info off the hard drive. Thanks again.
  7. Does anyone else find it funny that Haudricort keeps mentioning whether or not the Brewers would be willing to pay Valentine enough to get him away from ESPN? Something tells me these guys aren't pulling in that kind of money at ESPN. I mean, do you really think Tim Hasselbeck is making MORE money at ESPN than he did in the NFL? I'd say significantly less, and I would bet Tim Hasselbeck made $300K a year in the NFL. I know this is a football guy, but if I'm wrong, I hate ESPN even more.
  8. Thanks for the responses. A virus apparently wiped out my hard drive, everything gone, and unrecoverable. I didn't have much on there that I am too worried about, and I had a few docs that I backed up to a CD a couple years ago. My main concern is Itunes. Please tell me that I can download Itunes on my new computer (when I get it) and just synch what's on my Ipod to the new computer's Itunes. I have a feeling I can't and I will be ripping 500 CDs...again.
  9. I tried to hang on to my older computer a little too long I guess. My Windows XP OS does not boot, no error message, just a black screen with no cursor after the Dell logo comes up and loads. I can't start in safe mode, can't do anything. My experience with Dell was awful, can't get anyone that speaks clear English, hate to be cliche, but that's the truth. I couldn't really care less about this computer, I am getting a new one. But I do want to recover Itunes and a few other documents. After doing some research, I'm at least a little optimistic that I can do this with a Windows XP CD. But of course they didn't include a disk with my computer. I get a lot of sites that tell you how to download this disk from Microsoft, but how do I do that when I can't boot up the damn thing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  11. Do you guys really think he's going to be visiting a doctor everyday or something? Expertise? Nope. Supervision? Help managing your blood sugar on a daily basis? Yep. This isn't a death sentence. And no I don't agree that he's definitely not going to live like your average college kid. Who knows what his personality is like. You might be right, he might not live like your average college kid. But you don't know that for sure. He's going to have a lot more chances to do the wrong things in college as far as his health goes, just my opinion. Good luck to him.
  12. Exactly jericho. This thought that since there's a good hospital in the San Diego area so he'll have better medical care at San Diego is baffling to me. If the Brewers had made an investment in Covey, don't you think they would have done everything they could to protect that investment? Like maybe even hiring a nutrionist etc? There are good hospitals all over the place. I'm talking about monitoring his health. Although someone brought up diet, and how minor leaguers eat a lot of fast food, while college athletes eat at a training table. That was a good point, and a true one. But again, had they put all this money in to Covey to begin with, I think they would make sure he was well taken care of in that respect. I keep hearing about how it can take two or three years to get Type 1 diabetes under control, etc. But what people are forgetting is that most people are diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when they're young kids. So, yeah of course it's hard for an 8 year old kid to take care of himself.
  13. I'm not a diabetic, but one of my best friends is. I don't want to disrespect anyone's decision here, but my opinion on the matter is if this decision was made by Covey because of the emotional shock etc. of the situation I can understand....which means that the deadline to sign and the diagnosis just prevented a well thought out decision. However, I really don't think college is a better environment than the minor leagues as far as handling diabetes. In all likelihood the Brewers probably would have offered their investment more specialized one on one medical attention and care than he will ever get in college. The Brewers are going to care more about his well being than San Diego will, just my opinion. Also, I don't know about any of you guys, but when I was in college I partied...a lot. And partying is definitely not going to benefit a diabetic. Of course the simple answer is that you don't party. But knowing from experience, it's a lot more difficult to the person affected to be different in that respect. He's going to want to experience things just as his buddies and all the other incoming freshmen are. I'm not saying that minor leaguers don't have their fun too, but I will wager he'll have more temptations in college. Take all that and add in the financial security, and I don't think he made the correct decision if this was because of his diagnosis. But like I said, I think if you want to find the real reason or blame something, blame the deadline.
  14. Because he's one year away from becoming eligible for the full MLB pension. It'd be financially advisable to pay a team 450K to put him on the MLB roster next season so he can collect the 130K annual pension baseball players get when he's eligible for it. Ok sure. But my point was really in response to how much money he has to make in baseball from here on out...which is not much. He's made his money. He got a gift from Billy Beane, a nice 8 figure gift....which by the way was not a good signing, the results proved that. I don't care if Beane planned on flipping him at the deadline. He didn't. He wasted $10M, and not a lot of people are really surprised at the final result. He may make a comeback and actually pitch in the majors again (I'd bet against it), but he's done getting paid big dollars...unless he shows he can last, and that's not going to be until he's 35, 36 years old, which is a longshot if you know his history. How anyone can actually look back and say Melvin should have signed him long term is absolutely baffling to me. Because he had a lot of talent? Because he's supposedly a good guy? Wow.
  15. Sure, he was never going to be a starter, and sure, there's no sense debating this type of player in the grand scheme of things. I just don't understand how, why, whatever he received $2M from a team like the Brewers to be that sucky, insignificant player. Terrible waste of a signing.
  16. Hated the signing. Love the release. Very confused about seeing many posts around here pencilling him in for a platoon role for even 2011. Waste of $2M.
  17. Ben's such a talented pitcher that at 90% of what he once was, he could make another $30-40 million in the game. There are a lot of talented pitchers out there that no longer pitch. He would have to come back and play for the minimum, or to be nice, let's say $1M. And that would be in 2012...at age 34. He would have to make it through the entire year just to even sniff the kind of money he got from Oakland. And even if that all did happen, I don't see anyone going anything other than year to year with him after that. And then he'd have to make it through these years. We're getting up to about age 36 now. I just think that's a huge stretch to say he could make another $30M. Oakland signing him this year was a waste. Only a GM from brewerfan.net would allow him to make the kind of money you say he can still make.
  18. I was commenting on the post that said Sheets has a lot more money to make in the game of baseball.
  19. Far too much money to make? $400K is a 96% pay cut for Sheets, why even try?
  20. At the end of the day, he doesn't do enough to help the team win enough of the time -- no matter what the other numbers say. Exactly. And the same goes for the other pitchers I keep seeing people STILL include in next year's rotation. As my buddy said last night, if two of Bush, Narveson, and Parra are in the rotation next year, he will not spend dollar 1 at Miller Park next year.
  21. There's going to be a six episode season 8 after this season, and then a movie, I'm really not sure how that's going to happen with the storylines they have right now. This used to be a show I looked forward to every Sunday. Now my wife doesn't even watch it after we watch "True Blood" (which has it's own issues), and "The Wire" on Sunday nights. How did I miss the latter when it first came out on HBO? Thankfully DirecTV 101 channel is awesome. But as far as Entourage goes, it's getting bad. I actually hate E.
  22. The Twin Cities and Milwaukee are the same area?
  23. Yes, he owes Milwaukee nothing. He just went out of his way to say the ONLY thing he'd miss about the Brewers are his teammates. I really don't care, just interesting to hear him say that. If he says nothing like that, then there's nothing to read in to. If he says he'd miss Milwaukee (the whole enchilada--fans, city, teammates) but this is a business yada yada yada, fine. That's expected. He said the ONLY thing that he would miss was his teammates. Cool. But it's kind of dickish.
  24. But if they were seriously considering Fielder with Kinsler perfectly healthy, they could get even more interested with the injury to Kinsler regardless of position. Kinsler will be back in two weeks. They shouldn't just trade for Ty Wigginton because he can play 2B if they really want Fielder (which is a big if I know). My point is that if there really was a chance that Fielder could go to Texas, this injury to Kinsler might mean that there is even more of a chance. Let's not get too position oriented. If that was the thinking why would they call up a 230 pound 1B from AAA to replace Kinsler? Now if they weren't all that serious about the big fish in Fielder and were going to settle with Cantu or Wigginton to begin with, that's another story.
  25. Ian Kinsler is DL bound. I wonder if this might get the trade winds blowing even though the injury isn't serious. Also of note, apparently Moreland is getting the call to replace Kinsler...makes you think something might be happening as Moreland and Davis aren't going to be playing 2B.
