  1. I really hope that McGehee was caught off third on his own. RR would NEVER call a double steal with the slowest dude on the squad at third would he? Would he???? Slowest non catcher in the league. And most catchers are faster.
  2. "Adressing SS" is easier said than done as well. We're talking about utility types as the most likely to come in if they decide to fix the situation.
  3. I don't dislike Schroeder because he's a homer. I dislike him because he's boring, has really no personality whatsoever, and doesn't add anything that isn't obvious to anyone with a brain. Cirillo is just terrible all around. But I also don't pay too much attention, and I'm just happy Daron Sutton isn't screaming at me anymore.
  4. Every potential acquisition carries a bit of risk. We're talking about this year and next year (or at least I am). Is it a lot of money? Sure. What are your other alternatives though? Are you going to be able to lure a bat similar to Ramirez in free agency? If so, OK, how many years are you on the hook for at what per year? In my opinion, this would be of the low risk variety, keep your lineup competitive while not committing to someone long term. If you want to trade for a bat like Ramirez in a different, more $ friendly situation, then you're going to give up more of the farm system or other assets. I don't really think the Cubs would want a whole lot for him if the money is off their hands. I've accepted Prince is gone, and I'm OK with it, however I'm not OK with Casey McGehee being counted on right behind Braun and Hart as far as run producers go.
  5. I think this is the type of move the Brewers should really look hard at. Prince is gone. As soon as you accept that, you can start looking at other ways to improve the club with money that would have gone to Prince. Without even looking at future money invested in long term contracts, Aramis Ramirez wouldn't add any payroll for next year...he'd just take over Prince's $. It's a good one plus year fix. Ramirez and Gamel instead of McGehee and Fielder next year would soften the blow. Get a decent SS, and start looking in to keeping the starting pitching around, and contending year after year is doable.
  6. I'm not a big fan of Bill Schroeder at all, but Jeff Cirillo isn't any better...might even be worse. I too think Anderson is really weird with him. Oh well, at least Daron Sutton is gone.
  7. I echo pogokat...it's over for me as far as Roenicke goes. It's tough when you hated Yost, and you didn't care for Macha. But dammit, I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the terribleness of past managers doesn't give the current manager a pass. Roenicke sucks.
  8. Dallas was going to draft him at 6th, we picked 9th. Dallas took the risk that Dirk would still be there at 9th. We moved up to get Traylor. If Dallas thought we would take Dirk 6th, they wouldn't have traded with us. Exactly. Yes the Bucks were involved in the actual transaction, but they did not give away Nowitzki. The deal was prearranged and was able to be completed because of the fact that NO ONE was going to take Nowitzki before the Bucks picked at 9. Dallas just was shrewd and gambled to get extra pieces along with their man. The Bucks had no idea how good he would be, but Don Nelson (Dallas) and Rick Pitino (Boston) were the only ones that seemed to. There are so many differences between what happened and what really happened in the NBA Draft that you could go back and rip or praise dozens of picks...but they didn't really happen. The Bucks drafted Stephon Marbury not Ray Allen for example.
  9. If it was a groundhog I would take action, a chipmunk not so much.
  10. I think you guys are overestimating the difficulty of playing the 1B position when you're a Major League baseball player. He's also played some games in the OF. I understand that Fielder, McGhee, Hart, and Braun are not going to get many days off. But Hart hasn't played yet. Gamel could have received regular playing time up to this point. I guess if you're of the thinking that Gamel in RF, or Gamel at 1B is going to be some really difficult transition, you guys are probably right. But I don't buy that. It's just baseball. You can look around baseball and find guys that would seem far less qualified playing OF than Gamel...doing exactly that.
  11. Dude is going to be 26 in about 100 days...has been mentioned for years as some top flight prospect...is mentioned as the heir apparent at 1B when Prince leaves. Yet, nobody wants to strengthen the bench over guys like Kotsay, Almonte, three catchers etc. for some reason....a season where the playoffs are realistically talked about. Erick Almonte and Mark Kotsay people! How about some Major League experience for a guy that is supposedly going to be a major cog in the Brewers' lineup 2012 and beyond, and improve the 2011 team at the same time. Seems simple.
  12. Michigan's best wins are sweeping Michigan State and Penn State, beating Illinois in the B-10 tourney, and a non-conference win over Clemson who arguably shouldn't be in the tourney. Marquette has beaten Notre Dame, UConn, Syracuse, and West Virginia twice (plus Bucknell in non-conference, as good a team or better than Clemson). If we want to play the "close loss to ranked team" game, Marquette can run with anybody on that one this year. I said that Michigan was better than Marquette "right now." Two months ago, in the midst of a six game losing streak, they were not. Since that six game losing streak they've gone 9-4. Those four losses were to #12 Wisconsin (on the bank shot as time expired) a two point loss to Illinois, who they then beat in the B1G tournament, and two losses to the #1 team in the nation. I'm not knocking Marquette as much as I'm saying Michigan has matured in to a very nice team...even if next year is when you'll see the results more.
  13. Apparently they are viewing 8/9 seeds as being lower than 10/11 seeds as Michigan and Tennessee are not better than Marquette. I haven't watched enough of Tennessee, but Michigan is getting better and better, and I think they're definitely better than Marquette right now. I could see them winning the Big 10 next year.
  14. I have to ask NDOGG, if he's around, if he still thinks Taylor isn't someone who might head for the NBA after this season/project well for the NBA. Not gloating or anything like that, just honestly wondering. Unless he's grown to about 6'3" or 6'4", nothing has really changed about his pro prospects. I think he'll play in the NBA, he's just not such a slam dunk that he leaves early, and that's got nothing to do with how good he is at Wisconsin.
  15. I feel pretty darn good about a Taylor/Gasser backcourt[/i]I do too, but I'm not convinced Jordan isn't heading to the NBA after this season. Jordan Taylor leaving after this year for the NBA? That's something I see a few people saying but am struggling not to scream about. College athletes don't automatically project to the pros even if successful. There's no guarantee Taylor gets drafted in the first round in 2012, let alone leave early in 2011. Should he be this year's Big Ten POY? Yep. Will he be the best point guard in the country next year? Very possibly so. That doesn't necessarily translate to the NBA. But I do think he'll play in the league, but leaving early is a pipe dream for some kid that doesn't know any better. Jordan Taylor is not that kid.
  16. NDOG44 will make an appearance.
  17. It was impossible to lose the game considering the situation, let alone a team like the Badgers to lose the game. I feel like I wasted my night watching it. Tim Jarmusz really doesn't have any business being on this team. I think the addition the Badgers will gain next year with his subtraction will be more beneficial then one might think. He actually airballed a wide open shot at the end. Also, maybe if Rob Wilson played a little more instead of Jarmusz he wouldn't screw up so badly when he actually plays more than five minutes. Off the top of my head I don't know if Jarmusz had anything to do with Durrell Summers being held to 3 points, but this Badger team needs someone other than Leuer, Taylor, and Nankivil to step up or even be an option offensively...not more defense. All in all just a very frustrating ending.
  18. I think over the next couple years Berggren will become a star. Next year without Leuer, I wouldn't be surprised to see him averaging close to 15 a game, and the following year he'll be a senior and a first team All Big 10 player. Just my prediction. Business as usual for the Wisconsin program and the development of their players from the time they get on campus to the time they leave.
  19. Maybe Jeff D'Amico is available?
  20. Apparently Jeffress is not in the deal? If that's the case, I love this deal more than I already did. Jeffress moves in to a role in the bullpen in my opinion.
  21. I think $1.5M for Harden is a good move. And it doesn't even necessarily have to be as a starter. Best case scenario is he solidifies the rotation, but he could also come out of the pen, in fact that might be where he belongs now.
  22. To be honest, as a Yankee hater, I don't hate Jeter, even though I know he's overrated, overpaid etc. That said, I love the stance by Brian Cashman..."go test the market." This is all about Alex Rodriguez and the money he makes. I would actually lower my offer every week if I were the Yankees.
  23. I'm really not a computer moron...really. However I am new to Windows 7. All the advice I've received, which is appreciated, has not been for Windows 7 I'm afraid. I've been told by many different people not on this thread how to do it as well, and nothing is how it seems once I start trying. Does anyone have step by step directions for Windows 7? If not, I guess I will start the old fashioned way. It may take a while, but to be honest, I could be a good deal in to it by now, and at least I know it's right. Again, I hate to sound ungrateful, or like a brat, but there is no My Computer...there is no folder options that I can find. I don't think I'm getting Windows 7 instructions. Also, all my purchases are transferred, but that's about 10% of my library. And I was not able to deauthorize my old Itunes. Something tells me if I was able to do that, all I would need to do is synch normally. Thanks in advance again.
