  1. He tells people to have a thought of their own and stop watching ESPN, a network that consistently disses the Big Ten. Hilarious.
  2. Assuming Leuer comes back at full strength, dare I say that this might be the most dangerous Badger team yet as far as the NCAA tournament goes? Those mediocre guards are pretty much a nightmare for opposing teams right now. Bohannon as the semi-forgotten 3rd man? Taylor made...pun intended.
  3. Yeah, we are talking about this year. I'm just bringing up the last 10 years because of the silly label the Big Ten has received over the last 10 years or so. This year is no different. There are four VERY good teams at the top of the conference, rivaling any other conference. To the dude that says the Badgers wouldn't finish in the top 5 of whatever conference but won't list the five teams because he doesn't have to, I say you're a reach.
  4. Who made it to the Championship game last year? Is that a deep run? In the last ten years only the ACC has had more Final Four appearances than the Big Ten. ACC: 9 (North Carolina 4; Duke 2; Maryland 2; Georgia Tech 1) BIG TEN: 8 (Michigan State 4; Wisconsin 1; Indiana 1; Illinois 1; Ohio State 1) BIG EAST: 7 (Connecticut 2; Syracuse 1; Marquette 1; Louisville 1; Georgetown 1; Villanova 1) BIG 12: 6 (Kansas 3; Oklahoma 1; Texas 1; Oklahoma State 1) SEC: 4 (Florida 3; LSU 1) PAC 10: 4 (UCLA 3; Arizona 1) OTHER: 2 (George Mason 1; Memphis 1) Yet Michigan State (ranked 5 before Tuesday) has no shot at making a deep run in the tournament one year after making the deepest run you can make? And Purdue, Ohio State (with Turner), and Wisconsin (with Leuer) don't have a shot either? Haha.
  5. I don't know why people are just ignoring Ohio State in this debate either.
  6. Hopefully Wilson earned some more time on the floor...at Jarmusz's expense.
  7. I disagee a bit NDOG. Bo called quite a few sets when Harris and later Tucker were there. I'd expect a few will go in for the new backcourt now, too. What I meant was Bo thinks he can plug anyone in there and win. For the most part, he's been right, but why is Jarmusz in there when Robert Wilson is on the bench? Why isn't Jared Berggren getting any minutes now that Leuer is out instead of four guards and Nankivil. Jarmusz takes minutes away from guys that could help more, or could use the experience (Evans, Bruesewitz, Wilson, Berggren). All those guys except Berggren have shown a lot more than Jarmusz ever has. I don't mind moving Taylor in to the starting lineup for Leuer, but how about making two changes, the other being Jarmusz. But Jarmusz will start 35 games this year. That's what I meant about being too much in to his system. Whatever it is Jarmusz has that Ryan likes, he values that more than talent. And I didn't expect a win tonight at Ohio State, and am still very high on this team overall. I just have to call it as I see it.
  8. Yes, I think that's Bo Ryan's biggest weakness. Sometimes he's too in to his system. For all the flack he gets about not getting athletes, in this case (Jarmusz), he's got the players on his roster who can fill the role better. Clayton Hanson could go off and nail five threes like he did against North Carolina. Zach Morley could rebound, pass, play D, do all the intangibles. I don't know what Jarmusz does.
  9. I like that Bo is starting Taylor, Hughes and Bohannon together, but I can't stand that he continues to start Tim Jarmusz. He has to be one of my least favorite players of all time.I really try to watch closely to see if I'm missing something, but each time I get more and more frustrated that he plays as much as he does. I think he has to switch to either Evans or Bruesewitz. Totally agreed. Jarmusz just must be a total kiss-ass or a practice demon, or something, because I don't even think he plays defense all that good. If you're going to start Bohannon-Taylor-Hughes, that's great, but how about getting a little more size in there?
  10. Yes Stevo...me too. It's amazing that Jon Leuer is out, Keaton Nankivil and Tim Jarmusz don't add all that much offensively (Jarmusz basically offers nothing), and they still pull out a road win against a solid team. You gotta hand it to the trio of mediocre guards the Badgers have.
  11. #4 Purdue got beat by those pesky mediocre guards.
  12. Well they were ranked in the top 5 and we're on page three of this thread dedicated to the game, so it's a little bigger deal than just another win. I have to believe it might be the best game I've ever been to (did I mention I hate Duke?). Like I said, I see both sides.
  13. They played Sound Tribe Sector 9 off their new album "Peaceblaster" more than once last night, not sure if that's what you're talking about. Have to agree both ways on the storming of the court. I'm 35 and of the opinion that the Badgers are hardly chopped liver, so the "been there before" argument I can relate to. On the other hand, I was there last night too, and I can't remember a more emotional (I hate Duke) and exciting game. So, as brewbadger said, let the kids have their fun.
  14. Thankfully, Wisconsin is deep in mediocre guards.
  15. Deep in mediocrity. Yeah, we'll see. Not every time is North Carolina.
  16. I agree that NEXT year that Wisconsin will be thin at guard, but THIS year? No way. Hughes, Bohannon, Taylor, Wilson, Jarmusz. They're DEEP at guard.
  17. As I thought, Nogueira to get Lesnar/Carwin winner.
  18. Lesnar vs. Carwin now at UFC 106. Ben Rothwell has replaced Carwin at UFC 104 against Cain Velasquez. Supposedly, Velasquez (if victorious) will get the Carwin-Lesnar winner. I still believe that the Couture-Nogueira winner is going to get a shot in there somewhere, possibly before Velasquez? But it seems as though the map for the heavyweight title has been drawn for the next year or so.
  19. I kind of wonder if maybe this was a move discussed with another team? For instance, maybe the Brewers and Red Sox were having discussions about Hardy, and they would part with a better return if he was under control for another year? Boston is an organization that is pretty shrewd in money matters like that. Just a thought (hope).
  20. I really don't know how anyone could beat Anderson Silva at 185. Is there any doubt that in the next year or so we'll see Silva v. Machida?
  21. The only way both of those guys is back is because their trade value has gone down to nothing. Exactly. Why would you go through the trade deadline stating that Alcides Escobar is untouchable and stand pat, essentially giving up hope for a '09 playoff push if Escobar wasn't going to be your SS in '10? Hardy isn't going to be making huge money, but he isn't going to be "cheap" either. If Hardy isn't unloaded in the off season it's because no one wants him for anything worthwhile...which is entirely possible I'm afraid.
  22. I definitely believe that the UFC had the best offer. I don't believe that it was for as much as was reported though. I also read that if the UFC offered this offer to Fedor two years ago, it probably would have been a done deal. Fedor said that the UFC tried to screw him two years ago. But M1 Global does have Fedor under contract for three fights too. So, they would have to release him from their contract, and they wouldn't at this time. So, we may see this same thing come up again in 12-18 months. And RoCo, it may not mean much to you, but the fact that he was SUPPOSED to fight Barnett two days ago totally makes the "scared to fight the top competition" theory a reach.
  23. Let's not forget that Fedor was supposed to fight the best heavyweight not named Fedor two nights ago.
  24. OK, first let me say that I am very disappointed in the what seems to be failed negotiations between Fedor's camp and the UFC. I'll go even further and say my disappointment lies mostly with Fedor's camp. I think they are being unreasonable. And I stand behind the UFC. I believe that they have done what they should do, and M1 Global is really just expecting the impossible. BUT, please stop saying Fedor is in the minor leagues, or Fedor hasn't beaten anyone lately etc. Andrei Arlovski is all of a sudden some chump? Please. No, Tim Sylvia isn't very good at this time, but Fedor didn't beat the giant, he destroyed him in 36 seconds. At the time, Sylvia had only been beaten twice in the last 9 fights by Couture and Nogueria. Speaking of Nogueira, if he beats Couture in a few weeks, he's probably going to be fighting Lesnar for the title sometime at the end of this year. And Fedor defeated Nog three times. So, what does that say about this whole argument? Who has Cain Velasquez beat? Cheick Kongo and a bunch of insignificants. Who has Shane Carwin beat? Gabe Gonzaga. Speaking of Gabe Gonzaga, he was the heavyweight upcoming stud up to about six months ago, now he's on the UFC undercards. My point? Some of you are talking these guys like Carwin up to be some kind of monsters that have proven nothing really, and at the same time ripping Fedor's competition. It doesn't make sense.
  25. Well, no I wouldn't want to trade Gamel or Escobar for Washburn or anything other than a stud pitcher that would be around next year as well (weren't there some of those available?). But it's just kind of amusing to me that the guy doing all the drafting for the Brewers the last however many years couldn't come up with a satisfying package for Washburn that DIDN'T include Gamel or Escobar? That's telling to me. EDIT: And yes, Melvin himself came out and said he wasn't satisfied. So why shouldn't we be not upset with the Vargas pickup, but the lack of direction in general. I don't see it getting a whole lot better next year.
