  1. Maybe cable lets you go month to month now but I hated getting locked into a contract and then having to call and negotiate the rate every time the 12 month deal expired. I can see the advantages of having all your "stuff" with one company but it just wasn't for us.
  2. Always been my argument as well. Seems like a lot of screwing around for minimal savings. Now the equation changes if you get extremely cheap internet, do illegal things and/or don't want very many channels to watch. That's the rub for a lot of people. You end up paying for a bunch of channels you never use which is why I've never taken the leap with YouTube TV or Sling or any of the "live" TV options. And it's also possible that the increased competition from the streaming services has forced the cable companies to improve things on their end.
  3. I think every major streaming service has a free trial so it might be worth your while to just sign up for one and see if you like it then cancel and try another one. I was able to watch every Packer game this year by switching services three times (I get a lot of the games on local TV here in Chicago). One great thing about most of them is you can go month to month, cancel, and then re-up later on. A few years ago I got Sling for the NFL season, canceled it in January, and then re-upped for March madness and canceled it again after it was over.
  4. Agreed. The uniqueness of how it was shot was really fun for me. Roger Deakins should pretty much win the Oscar every year.

    Pizza

this article is really interesting. I had no idea DiGiorno's was made in WI. Also, anyone had Hansen's frozen pizza? Guess it's the bees knees. Wisconsin leads nation in frozen pizza consumption: https://www.postcrescent.com/story/life/food/2019/04/02/frozen-pizza-made-wisconsin-satisfies-pepperoni-cheese-supreme-hunger-across-state-nation/2776334002/ Oh man...I totally remember this commercial: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=old+tombstone+pizza+ads&&view=detail&mid=F5EEAEFC32FA09A65042F5EEAEFC32FA09A65042&rvsmid=E2714207D72BDEB258AEE2714207D72BDEB258AE&FORM=VDMCNR

I'm...going to be that "guy" and add that we have had cauliflower-crust pizza, and have bought frozen cauliflower crusts and topped them ourselves. It erases the SO's carb concern and honestly tastes fine to me. The consistency is different, but it's a reasonable alternative for us. Have you ever tried a quinoa crust? Or is that too carby? I found a recipe online but haven't gotten around to giving it a shot yet.

When I was a kid Domino's was horrible. I literally think they used actual rabbit turds as sausage. Somewhere along the way they got a new CEO who revamped the whole menu/pizza making process. I like it best of all the giant chain pizzas now...still stay away from the sausage though.

I still prefer the deep-dish pizzas over any others. There are only a few in Arizona that actually makes them correctly. Pequds deep dish (I think they call it "pan") is the best in town.

I think 90% of restaurant fires fall into the above category. I am always suspicious when a restaurant burns down and then it doesn't rebuild/reopen. Especially when it is waterfront. There have been a couple near me. Get the insurance money and then sell waterfront property. There's that or use the money to renovate. I feel like every time this happens you get "Well it was probably time to fix the place up anyway." or "We were planning on redoing our kitchen but not for a few years."

I love this thread. If anyone is in Chicago, skip all the downtown deep-dish places and go to Pequod's which is just west of Lincoln Park.

We used to get Rocky's as part of our school lunch once a week. It was a Friday tradition. Quality wasn't quite the same though. Zaffiro's in Milwaukee is pretty good too. Similar to Balistreri's but not as good, IMO. There used to be a place in Madison called Falbo Brothers that I absolutely loved when I was an undergrad. And now that I look I see they have locations all over the place. Anyone tried it recently? I was a delivery guy for Pizza Extreme when they had their outlet on East Washington in Madison. They had really good food...at least to a college kid they did.

There's a Lou Malnati's opening in Brookfield this year. I know deep dish isn't everyone's cup of tea but their thin crust is really good. I used to love MamaMia's on Burleigh but they closed. Their garlic bread was ridiculous. Sluggo's in Brookfield has great pizza too for a bar. Pizza Man is solid as well.

RobDeer! I accidentally deleted your post when trying to split it out into its own topic. My apologies! Basically, RobD was asking what everyone's favorite pizza places in WI are. He mentioned Balistreri's in Wauwatosa and Sammy's in Eau Claire (at least I think that was it) I can vouch for Balistreri's since I basically grew up on that pizza. Very good deep fried eggplant too!
  15. Very, very cool. Hope you have a blast. You should post some photos for all to see when all is said and done. I bet a lot of people would find it interesting. Yes! I would love daily recaps if you have the time. Or at least a summary at the end.
  16. Would love to hear your thoughts on the finale once you get to it, Robert.
  17. I just finished What We Do in the Shadows on Hulu (or I guess its on FX) and man was that entertaining. The movie set a high standard and this show lives up to it. As with most shows it takes a few episodes to really get to know the characters but by episode 3 or so I was hooked. Simply hilarious. Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement are so talented.
  18. Anybody watching Watchmen? It's a trip.
  19. Caught up on some movies while traveling the past week.. Yesterday A power outage causes a dude to get whacked by a bus. When he wakes up in the hospital, he is the only person on earth that remembers The Beatles. Given he is a musician, he takes it upon himself to start writing and recording all the Beatles songs he can remember. Pop stardum ensues. Cute rom-com from Danny Boyle. Rocketman Mentioned earlier in the thread. A biopic about Elton John. His parents sucked pretty bad. There was one sex scene which was about as tame as a Lifetime movie. Movie as a whole felt like it was lifted from a Broadway musical as there are interludes where characters break into song. I like movies where someone overcomes demons to find happiness even if it's a bit sappy and stretches the truth (Elton was not clean and sober when he shot the video for I'm Still Standing). Ad Astra I was totally into this one and then my plane landed. Gah. The Irishman Scorcese's latest about an Irish hitman working for the mob in NYC. General consensus is that it's too long and I agree that it could shave 45 min at least and still get the point across. I also thought they should have used younger actors for the periods where DiNiro was supposed to be a young man. The CGI made him look younger but his body movements were still that of a 75 year old dude. Overall I really liked it though. I thought Joe Pesci gave the best performance of the heavyweights.
  20. He probably falls into that 2-3 year deal for 6-8 million per year bucket doesn't he? Sample is small, but just look at the stuff. He's definitely worked his way into pitching the very back end of games for this team. You could easily argue he's our 2nd best reliever. He might be willing to take a 1 year "prove it all year" deal betting that he can do better next offseason. Market is weird these days so who knows.
  21. I wonder how many people throw out their arms within three hours of the plane landing? That would be me for sure.
  22. I always thought Diaz looked like a carbon copy of Robinson Cano at the plate.
  23. So a human being made a mistake. Will wonders never cease.
  24. The Brewers should trade all their bad players for some really, really good ones. Surprised Stearns hasn't thought of this.
