I wouldn't Devin is really good and really cheap, which will make him valuable to the team going forward, regardless of this dumb mistake which he's made. Hey good to see you post, danzig. Come by more often.
They tried this back in the 70s I think and the mayor of Chicago at that time sued to make them change their name to Arlington Heights Bears or whatever suburb it was.
The outfield. Guessing they would have kicked someone like Yelich to first. I suppose Garcia could have gone to first as that logjam would have been unjammed with Garcia leaving in the offseason. I doubt they would have got Reynolds and then stuck him at 1B. Reynolds can play all three OF positions and switch hits so he would have played a lot. I'm guessing they would have booted JBJ or Cain (or made Pitt take one and then Brewers pay the salary) and sent Taylor down
I love how the Pirates are hanging onto him as the cornerstone of their rebuild which won't be done (if ever) by the time he's too expensive for them to keep.
I think we are going to have to get used to teams getting long, sustained drives against GB. I am guessing their strategy is to prevent big plays and that most teams either don't have the patience or the talent to dink and dunk and move down the field in 5-yard chunks. The issue then becomes keeping teams out of the end zone and holding them to field goals when they do get down there and GB hasn't been too good at that yet this year.
And that fumble/fg in the 4th quarter would have put them up 9 instead of 6 and effectively ended the game - how was that the right call? I disagree completely That's fine you can disagree but the game plays out differently if they kick a FG. You can't just assume everything after that decision remains the same.
That sequence started with the 49ers flipping the field and pinning GB back inside their 20 after after a few first downs and taking the ball to midfield. GB's touchdown drive was not influenced at all by SF starting inside their 5 after the failed 4th and short instead of opting for a chip shot field goal. Thank the football gods they found a way back down the field and Crosby hit another 50+yard field goal to win it - but if they take the points in the first half, there's much less drama at the end of this game. They got the fumble and field goal later on. Going for it on 4th was 100% the right call. To say otherwise is disregarding every decision that may or may not have changed as a result of that field goal. The game plays out totally differently.
