First we should maximize our trade asset of Yelich. Next day it’s Hiura. Now we are on to Hader. Why can’t we have nice things in Milwaukee and just enjoy them? Especially Hiura and Hader who combine probably cost us $1 mil It's hypothetical. I don't think OP is suggesting we trade anyone.
Control is a big part of value though. It'd be almost like saying "Exclude strikeouts and home run totals". I mean yeah I'd trade him for pretty much all the guys listed in a vacuum if I knew baseball as a sport was going to cease to exist in October of this year.
No one is claiming the Padres will trade Tatis. Someone made what they thought was a ridiculous list of guys that it would take to trade off Yelich or Hader and someone else said they wouldn't do the trade.
People go nuts over weird things. For example, people are currently going nuts over an outlandish trade proposal in the transaction rumors forum. Seems an odd use of time.
Yes..I said that..go ahead and think its dumb all you want..Im just not selling ANY major contributor to the major league club until Yelich's control is up..just my philosophy..im doing whatever I can to capitalize on that window now..Hader is a big part of that..heck im trying to resign Moose and Grandal as well and make a HUGE offer to Geritt Cole or another top FA pitcher. And besides..how much have those players helped the Padres this year? What's their record again? Like 4.5 games behind the Brewers?
I just don't know how they can buy big without giving up Hiura and I would be shocked if they did that. In other words, I don't think they'll go big. If they buy it will be some spare parts (e.g. reliever, low end starter, utility dude)
Two of our top 3 or 4 position players are free agents after the season. Yeah at the very least they could trade Grandal and Moose. Tell the fans you'll try and re-sign them in the off season.
To be fair, there were a lot to disappointments to choose from during the Bando era. Which probably explains why Scott Karl hasn't been mentioned yet. Ben McDonald should be mentioned in every Bando related post.
Cooper realistically had nowhere to play above Triple-A in the Brewers' system with Thames and Jesus Aguilar excelling at first base at the time. Also, I believe he had to be added to the 40 man after the season or they probably would have lost him in rule 5 anyways.
