  1. I love when you give a quote to someone and they get mad at you.
  2. I might be a little naive but no one in the east really scares me except Philly. Really not worried about Toronto with Kawhi? They have a really deep team that can play tons of matchups. Assuming Brogdon comes back fine (or at least Hill is healthy and playing as well as he is now) I'm still confident and would pick MKE. But Tor is really good as well. Not in a 7 game series, no.
  3. I might be a little naive but no one in the east really scares me except Philly.
  4. Hader could totally close if they asked him too. Problem is then you lose him in the high leverage situations in the 6th, 7th, 8th.
  5. They might sing a different tune if Strop blows his first couple of chances.
  6. George Hill is really underrated. He is exactly what they need on that 2nd unit.
  7. No offense but there was a 5 - 6 year stretch leading up to the back to back Final Fours where this exact same type of post would show up about Bo.
  8. http://www.apimages.com/metadata/Index/Reds-Brewers-Baseball/8221b766ad1f49f1b3b40ef0505d3e0e/27/0 Once I realized this was Sabathia and not Fielder this was pretty easy. I don't know how the AP's pricing works or if you can even buy it but this is where I'd start.
  9. Agreed. I just composted a bunch of posts. Stop it or you will get a time out.
  10. D'oh! Missed this. Thanks for posting. I can't wait to see what he can do with that extra velo.
  11. Peralta averaged 94+ on his fastball yesterday. That's about 2 mph better than he was throwing last October and over 3 mph better than when he was a starter. Me excite.
  12. Do you have a link to that Fangraphs estimate?
  13. Yep. It's all we have to work with though since Forbes doesn't have access to all the numbers.
  14. I hate Duke.
  15. Jose Ramirez carted off the field for the Indians. Fouled a ball off his leg. That doesn't sound good.
  16. I may have missed that, but we should know today since he is pitching at Salt River Fields which is the AZ Spring Training park with publicly available data including pitch velocity and movement. The outing details should be on Brooks Baseball baseball by tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!
  17. Did I hear somewhere that Peralta's velocity was up this spring? That was the thing that concerned me about his repertoire. Hard to fool guys with a deceptive delivery long term without a little juice to back you up.
  18. Just so everyone is on the same page, the most recent Forbes valuations (which are best guess estimates but still pretty thorough) has the Brewers at 7th in baseball in operating income (+$67 million). This was BEFORE the 2018 season and based on 2017 payroll numbers which were much, much lower than 2018. See below: 2018 salaries https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/payroll/2018/ 2017 salaries https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/payroll/2017/ So with trades, signings, and in season acquisitions they were on the hook for roughly $40 million more last year than the year prior if I'm reading that correctly. Guessing they will be just slightly higher than that this year. 2019 salaries https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/payroll/ Also, when does Aramis Ramirez come off the books? Nice gig, ARam.
  19. Not really a huge steal though. It only buys out one year of free agency and arbitration has realistic caps on value. If he pitches like this it is a bargain for them but if he gets hurt in the next 4 years it is a loss. So both sides are taking appropriate risks. Well yeah if any big ticket guy gets hurt it's a problem.
  20. That is a steal for the Rays if he continues to pitch like last year.
  21. He's 31 and probably about to decline. Doesn't bother me.
  22. I actually disagree. Look at the leap the Bears D made this past year with the addition of Mack? Look at the Packers '96 defense. They had some guys who were aging stars in Sean Jones and Dotson, but both were past their prime. It was Reggie and Butler. The 2010 team had Clay and Woodson and then you had Howard rBrown starting, just a big guy they signed off the street to clog up the running game. . And Nick Collins and BJ Raji.
  23. I mean I get the Sox trying to save money but unless they thought Eloy's agent was going to have him avoid an extension if he mashed his rookie year then I don't see the rush.
  24. Eesh, they'd been pretty lucky with the injuries so far this year. Well, time for Wilson to step up.
  25. This isn't really a new thing though. Braun signed an extension before hitting FA. So did Yelich, Trout (not this week but the last time), Segura signed a big extension with SEA back in 2017. There are a ton of examples. There are actually very few top tier players that end up reaching FA. There just happened to be two this year (three if you count Kimbrel I guess).
