  1. Really, Michael...
  2. That gif of Uecker celebrating in the locker room will live on long after he's gone.
  3. I’m a buy and hold guy. The first stock I bought was DE to give you an idea. OK if you're going to hold then I'm curious why you are worried about the safety of the stock? If you would like dividend income that's another story. Obviously everyone's risk tolerance is different.
  4. 2009 - 6.93 penalties per game 2017 - 7.57 2018 so far - 8.56 EDIT: this actually seems low to me. I think this might be penalties per team per game.
  5. Think of it by PA. A pitcher is 50% of every PA they pitch. If a guy throws 200 innings and averages say, 4 PA/inning that's 800 PA's in a season. OK that makes more sense.
  6. That's where WAR loses me. How can a guy playing 17 games have more impact than a guy playing 70? I guess I don't understand the math there.
  7. I think there's two ways to look at it; Sabathia had a better half season, Yelich made more of an impact (simply because of games played)
  8. Which 1/2 season made a bigger impact - Sabathia's 2nd half in 2008 or Yelich's in 2018?
  9. I knew when they acquired him they god a very good player. Sweet Freudian slip
  10. Yeesh, that stinks. I wish could offer up some advice but I wouldn't know the first thing. Guess if I was you I would ask the engineer if it was the roofers fault. I'm sure he/she can tell you how best to go about getting it fixed even if they aren't doing the work. Possibly recommend someone for you as well.
  11. What's your investment timeline?
  12. He was in St. Louis but he technically had a day off yesterday. He just stopped in the booth to hang out for a few innings. I think he always makes the St. Louis trips since he knows a lot of people down there from his playing days including one of the Cardinals broadcasters.
  13. Kind of a similar vein albeit via the NYTimes: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/26/sports/milwaukee-brewers-christian-yelich.html
  14. My favorite part about that Yelich homer was Bader getting all pissy at the wall. Something about that dude rubs me the wrong way...beyond his Cardinalness.
  15. Time to pump the brakes a little, Rick.
  16. Wow, from the archives! Wonder where GP is these days?
  17. The GB Chicago game had pretty big numbers too I believe.
  18. I mean sure, use one stat to make an argument. Javy Baez has had a huge impact on offense even if he doesn't have a bunch of walks. A 129 OPS+ is pretty darn solid. It is a close race all things considered. I like Yelich more because he truly has an elite impact on offense and is still a good defender (though vastly overrated). Yelich can also use his speed on the bases, unlike Baez who pads the SB stat getting caught almost a third of the time. Well it's a big difference maker. One guy has a .390 OBP and the other a .327
  19. I think that's changing but yes for the most part MVP voters look at the traditional stats like grittiness and team wins. Cain wouldn't have even been in the discussion 10 - 15 years ago. Now he'll probably get several votes.
  20. Even though Baez is a better defender at a premium position I don't think that offsets how much better Yelich has been offensively.
