  1. Domingo hit .197 last year in April. The rest of the year he went .291/.380/.511
  2. Yeah I don't think they ever showed home games before going on cable. I could be wrong though.
  3. Looks like it was channel 18. They moved to 24 in 1994. I vaguely recall games on channel 4 but that was when they showed like 10 a year. Five of the six major network television stations in Milwaukee, along with WMLW-CA, have carried game broadcasts over the years, with WTMJ-TV being the original broadcaster in the 1970s. WVTV carried the team for the bulk of the 1980s and early 1990s, with WCGV-TV following from 1994 until 2004, and WISN-TV carrying select Sunday games at the beginning of the 2000s.
  4. Yes, and remembering watching that Nieves no-hitter when I was a kid does the same. Was it channel 18 back then? Probably. Did they move to channel 24 at one point?
  5. The fact that the Marlins have been around 25 years makes me feel really old.

  7. If Braun is going to sit it might as well be a day game after a night game against a righty.
  8. Nelson is tentatively scheduled to throw off a mound on or around April 20th. So he could theoretically be back by early June.
  9. Please refrain from any posts about climate change. Thanks.
  10. Just spitballing about this since I'm home all day and bored.... Cubs have had three games postponed. One is to be made up on an otherwise off day on May 14, another as part of a double header on May 19 (the other as part of a doubleheader on July 21). So instead of 9 games in 10 days in mid May (with an off day after game three) the Cubs have 11 games in 10 days with no off day. How that affects their bullpen remains to be seen but I'll take any little advantage I can find.
  11. I had to double check the stat line from the other day to make sure I was reading it correctly: 23 pitches, 2 innings, 5 K's. That's ridiculous. That's like.....Bugs Bunny.
  12. In the old days guys took "greenies" to give them a lift.
  13. I feel we have one of these threads every time there is a rash of little injuries.
  14. Dog WARP (wins above replacement pet) >>>>>>>> Cat WARP
  15. Not sure I'd be bragging about drafting Thon.
  16. I've watched video of two of his extra base hits and they were badly misplayed by the outfielders. Trust me, I want him to succeed but am tempering my enthusiasm for a while.
  17. Kinda crazy that Delmonico turned himself around and now plays every day for the Sox.
  18. Or if you are a 27 year old me, you can hitchhike.
  19. DFA Babe Ruth
  20. There is metered street parking near the purple line and there are probably structures downtown as well. Another option is to drive to the Howard stop of the red line. I believe there is a structure there. That way you can just take the red line all the way to Wrigley without any transfers. The neighborhood is a bit shadier than anything in Evanston however. You might even look into shuttles from Evanston direct to Wrigley.
