  3. Welcome back, Ennder. Nice to see you post.
  4. Have we considered that Cobb has not signed with us because he doesn't want to come here? Probably 100 times Hey, easy to miss in a 79 page thread.
  5. No one is saying he'll be a 4th outfielder and play once or twice a week. At worst, he'll be one of 4 outfielders and play 5 games a week minimum at some position. yeah I don't know where this Braun as 4th outfielder talk is coming from. Like you said he's one of 4 vying for playing time out there. Good for him he learned another position.
  6. Welcome to the board!
  7. Thanks for doing the math. I was wondering how that would work out. So filling in the blanks you then have Broxton/Phillips/Aguillar. I'm going to assume one guy goes to AAA, one guy backups up the OFers, and one guy is sent packing. This is only if Braun proves capable at 1B.
  8. Apparently packers signed Kyle Fuller to an offer sheet. Bears have opportunity to match. That's a shocker. Scouts loved him coming out but he's been hurt a lot. Was good last year. Packers might just be driving the cost up for the bears which is fine by me.
  9. I am not even including either of those guys. If Miley was having a mediocre camp no one would even be discussing him. This is about: Chacin, Suter, Woodruff, Guerra You've got Anderson, Davies, and then three of the above four. Maybe you include Burnes at some point down the road. If Miley is for real then you got lucky.
  10. First off, Nelson isn't gone for the whole year. Remains to be seen what he does when he comes back though. Secondly, the Brewers should be MUCH improved at the back end of the rotation. Is that enough to off set losing Nelson for half a season?
  11. Thames can't run. LIterally. He jogs. If they thought he'd be claimed I think they would be tempted to put him into waivers You are basing this off a handful of spring training ABs. I'd venture he's faster than most first basemen. He did have 4 triples last year.
  12. Oakland released Crabtree. Wonder if GB will kick the tires on him?
  13. Davies results....huh? Ponce was at age level in A+ this past year with a 1.292 whip, 9.8 H9, 7.1 K9....at that same age Davies was starting in MLB posting 1.249 whip, 9.1 H9, 7.4 K9. Davies minor league numbers smash Ponce and did all being plenty young for level. Yup he's 23... send him to the glue factory. No chance he improves. If you arent under 21 you suck. No way he can match Davies results at the mlb level. Never!!!! I mean he's 23 and not in the majors yet. Just shoot him already and stop wasting the oxygen. Great take. We have a make a prediction thread so some high and mighty twit can tell others they are stupid? Very welcoming place we have here. PS... despite your degree of smug in your response Davies numbers aren't much better than Ponce but hey if you say it with attitude people believe you.... so keep it up. The only stark difference is Davies started in the minors at 18 and Ponce at 21. No one called you or your argument stupid. Other than the first sentence (which was unnecessary but not totally out of line) there is nothing wrong with the post. Edit: I'm just now noticing this post is from a while back but based on your recent post about "catching flack" it is worth pointing out....you didn't catch flack. In the future, if you think you are being attacked please use the report feature (the exclamation mark at the top of the offending post). It's much easier for mods to see any issues. Otherwise they get buried in threads we may not be reading.
  14. There it's opposite. Sit on third base side to get shade.
  15. I think if you sit on the 1st base side you are better than the 3rd base side - your back will be to the sun as it sets in the west.
  16. You are lowering Santana's trade value by not playing him everyday.
  17. This is why it pays to wait until all the FA's are signed before writing off an off-season.
  18. And releasing Jordy. That won't go over well with the yokels, er, locals.
  19. Packers to sign Graham to 3 year deal per Adam Schefter.
  20. Follow baseball insiders, read all rumors, report rumors as coming from personal "source", then quickly delete those tweets if rumor proves incorrect. I feel like we've been down this road before. We shall see... Nightengale posted about Arrieta and Cobb more than likely signing this week. This guy tweeted about Arrieta signing with Phillies or Nats on 3/1 and saying it would likely be 7-14 days before something happening and Jake signed on 3/10. Jon Heyman tweeted about Phillies interest in Arrieta on March 1. Nats were rumored to be interested in him all winter.
  21. Looks like the Bears are signing Robinson.
  22. Wow! They were really good in the clutch. Which leads to the question...if they were so good in the clutch why can't they do that when not in a clutch situation? Different approach? Luck?
  23. I am surprised that Gallardo had a 2.57 in '15 which I would assume is attributable to keeping the ball in the ball park more, as all his other numbers have deteriorated every year since leaving Milwaukee. The average innings pitched is also interesting because Jimmy Nelson averaged over 6 IP per start in 2017. Miley averaged around 5 IP/start in '16 and was less than 5 IP in '17. Gallardo has been right around 5 IP/start since leaving Milwaukee the first time and Chacin is at nearly 6 IP/start last year. I'll give the front office the benefit of the doubt for now, but it certainly appears more probably true than not that the rotation takes a significant step backwards which will tax the bullpen which could result in a decline in productivity by having to cover more innings in 2018. I think regression is likely but I don't think it will be too bad. Garza/Guerra/Peralta were spectacularly awful. I could see their replacement(s) being significantly better this season. That might offset what they lose from nelson being out.
  24. can you tell me where you found this? I find it hard to get splits on team stats. Hate to say it, but the mothership. ESPN. Thanks. Crazy stat of the day: Baltimore had .747 OPS overall (19th) and .824 OPS with RISP (4th)
