  1. UWGB was missing several guys for different stretches of that game due to injury.
  2. Hammond: "We've come to the realization that, for a small market team like ourselves, if we're gonna add an impact player, the most logical way to do that is through the draft". GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. BAD WORDS. REALLY!!??? REALLY!?? I mean..... You want to just jump in there and add "We've FINALLY come to the realization....." for him. IDIOT. IDIOT. CLOWNSHOES. This article only confirms all the things we already knew about the Bucks, and Hammond, and Kohl, but this literally made me want to punch things, and throw things through walls. I think the majority is on Kohl. I'm pretty sure Hammond knows that picking 15th every year isn't a good way to build a team but Herbie needed that 8th seed so...
  3. I don't have a good feeling about the Wisconsin game at Nebraska tomorrow. That place is going to be going insane. They might guarantee themselves a tournament berth if they beat UW. Probably the biggest game for them since.....since I don't know when. Biggest game since they joined the B1G that's for sure.
  4. You are quite the optimist.
  5. Even though they were silly at times, his early work still had an air of intelligence to them. I think guys like Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler could learn a thing or two from that. Judd Apatow tries but usually fails at doing both.
  6. Prisoners Wow. Great film. It's about the disappearance of two girls in a city in Pennsylvania. A suspect is caught and subsequently released due to lack of evidence. One of the fathers, convinced this is the guy, decides to take matters into his own hands while the investigation goes in a different direction. Shot by Roger Deakins (who also shot Skyfall most recently among many other awesome movies) and directed by Canadian filmmaker Denis Villenueve, the oftentimes brutal and uncomfortable film gets its point across definitively. Lots of odd twists and turns in this one lead to a fairly surprising end. I'm not a huge fan of Jake Gyllenhaal but he really put on a great performance here. And if you like this one, Villanueve has a film called Incendies that is really good as well. Or if you like this genre, another good one to check out is 7 Days - not for the squeamish. Available on Netflix DVD and Amazon Instant Video Cutie and The Boxer Oscar nominated doc about married Japanese artists living in New York City. He is 80 years old and uses boxing gloves to create modernist paintings. She's 30 years his junior and likes to draw. The movie starts at the surface of their marriage and slowly peels back layers to reveal a complex, almost symbiotic, relationship. Very good film and worthy of the nomination. Worth watching just for the closing credit sequence. Available on Netflix Instant Download and Amazon Instant Video
  7. The only way Braun would truly win back the maximum number of fans/media possible is if he came totally clean about his entire steroid history. I'm guessing it's not limited to the brief time in 2011 or whenever it was. Then he'd have to give back his MVP and take any and all questions in an open forum. That still would not be enough for Buster Olney though.
  8. You need to look at his drafts relative to performance of his draft picks vs. those taken below him. He's done well in that regard.
  9. Jeremy Scahill is from Wauwatosa. Robert - we've resurrected the DVD thread. Hope you can add to it.
  10. I think the biggest compliment you can give him is that his movies still stand the test of time after 30 - 35 years. They are still friggin' funny.
  11. I hope you're right because that would make Buster Olney really angry.
  12. Because in 6 years of drafting and trades and attempts at building a team he has managed to accidentally put together the worst team in franchise history. Why would you have confidence in him with that track record? Drafting hasn't really been the problem. It's everything else GM related.
  13. Not saying he wasn't worn out, but that's an easier explanation to give than "Pitchers finally figured me out." I think it still remains to be seen what kind of player he really is.
  14. I'd be curious to see how that compares to other players around his age and if there was a similar drop off.
  15. Shocking and tragic. An American comedic icon dead at 69 years old. He wrote and or directed Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Analyze This......one of the greats. edit: forgot about Vacation.
  16. Really? I thought Louisville was the clear favorite last year.
  17. Yeah a dominant big man might be bad news given UW's lack of depth in the front court. Maybe Evan Anderson's hero moment?
  18. I agree. None of the top teams seem great this year. Ashley getting hurt was a big blow to Arizona and MSU cant get healthy and even when they were they were struggling to put teams away. Cuse is not a great team and could easily end up losing 4 straight after being undefeated. Kansas is the scariest team to me. I want no part in them unless it is in the Final Four. Lunardi has Wisconsin up to 8 on his S curve so that would put them at a 2 seed. SDSU getting crushed by New Mexico drops them quite a bit. Kansas would be a fun matchup for UW. The two things KU doesn't do really well is defend the three ball and let the opponent get to the line - two things UW normally excels at on offense.
  19. Sort of a crazy year in college hoops. Lots of parity. Reminds me of 2011 when UConn won it all. I think we might see a few outliers in the Final Four.
  20. See the winter weather thread.
  21. Was Bill Hall still a shortstop when he got his extension?
  22. Brantley reminds me of Darryl Hamilton.
  23. High 40's for Chicago for late next week. It's a heat wave!
  24. Many times addiction is a symptom of some underlying mental issue or trauma.
  25. He has always looked older than he is. Maybe he's always been on drugs? I mean he was like 26 when he did Big Lebowski.
