  1. This is a great year to tank. Embiid, Parker, Smart, Wiggins.....I'd take any of those guys.
  2. Beats trading prospects for Ike Davis......or Ike Turner for that matter.
  3. You can just see the sadness and dejection in his eyes.
  4. Yeah, this team is pretty good. Scary thing is I think there's room for improvement.
  5. Fischer to Marquette apparently.
  6. That's classic. I have my doubts as to whether or not it's going to accomplish anything but at least the local media might realize that the fans are fed up with the organization. The best thing is that the website makes salient, reasoned, and logical points. It's not some goober meathead that can't spell and just wants to fire everyone.
  7. I doubt UW is one of the 5 best teams in the country but I also didn't think they'd finish top four in the B1G this year. Looks like they might be top three. Lot of basketball to play though. Not counting my chickens just yet. Nice thing is they have a very favorable schedule (no OSU or MSU on the road).
  8. Camden Yards was built for 110 million in 1992. What is that 20 years later with inflation? Like $220 million? Basically the Mariners are saying Robinson Cano is worth more than Camden Yards. By comparison, Miller Park cost $392 million to build. Trout may be worth more than Miller Park. Insane.
  9. I don't get the point of the billboard. I think the website alone will do more good.
  10. watch, Bucks will get #1 pick in the draft, take Wiggins, play another year in Milwaukee, and then move to Seattle where the new Sonics will make the NBA Finals.
  11. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/918310/frank-the-tank-o.gif
  12. I actually don't think pitching will be a problem. I am worried about where the runs are going to come from if a) Braun isn't as good as he was pre-roids and b) Ramirez is out for more than a month
  13. Last 10 years 2012 - 3 (Peralta 56, Jungmann 70, Bradley 71) Segura was also 55th but he was obviously with the Angels when the list came out 2011 - 0 2010 - 3 (Escobar 12, Lawrie 59, Gamel 89) 2009 - 4 (Escobar 19, Gamel 34, Lawrie 81, Jeffress 100) 2008 - 2 (LaPorta 23, Parra 72) 2007 - 3 (Gallardo 16, Braun 26, Inman 91) 2006 - 3 (Fielder 11, Rogers 44, Braun 49) 2005 - 5 (Weeks 8, Fielder 15, Capellan 25, Hardy 28, Rogers 55) 2004 - 6 (Weeks 5, Fielder 10, Hardy 19, Nelson 48, Parra 69, Jones 84) 2003 - 5 (Nelson 23, Jones 56, Fielder 78, Hendrickson 90, Hart 91) That list is very telling as to the predictive usefulness of the top 100. I think after the top 15 or 20 it's all a crapshoot. By the way, I bet Ben Hendrickson's dad wrote them a letter and complained that his son was ranked too low.
  14. I'm willing to bet that the move doesn't significantly impact their attendance. I mean if you can't fight a little bit of traffic to go to a friggin' playoff game then you weren't a real fan to begin with.
  15. Kohl needs to sell the team. I mean I'm grateful he wants to keep the team in Milwaukee and turned down the Jordan group back in the day to ensure the team would stay here but he's just an awful owner. Hopefully the arena deal gets done with limited taxpayer money and Kohl can sell to a local buyer group.
  16. Badgers will be top four in the B1G again this year - no higher than 3rd and more likely 4th. But next year they will vie for the conference title. They're gonna be pretty good the next two or three years.
  17. Seems ridiculous doesn't it? Here you have the Cubs playing in a very outdated venue like Wrigley Field which will be over 100 in a few years, and Turner Field won't last past 2017. Of course it's not the first time the Braves abandoned a modern venue for greener pastures. County Stadium was only 14 years old, and one of the most modern stadiums around when the Braves headed to Atlanta in 1966. Fulton County Stadium only lasted 30 years too. Of course, that place had lousy sight lines for both football and baseball. The Omni down there didn't last either, and how much longer will the Georgia Dome be around? They go through sports venues pretty fast in Indianapolis too. Market Square Arena and the RCA/Hoosier Dome were perfectly functional but deemed outdated in a hurry. The Bradley Center is only 25 years old. Of course, it was outdated when it was built. By comparison the Milwaukee Arena was replaced by the BC after 38 years of service. Kind of ridiculous that a stadium now seems to have a shelf life of 30 years. Not worth the near billion dollar investment these cities are making, IMO.
  18. I read somewhere that Cobb County is paying for 2/3 of it. I wasn't aware that Cobb County was paying for the building. That makes it a little less defensible. Still, as a fan of the Brewers, who have played in two taxpayer funded stadiums, it's hard for me to rip the citizens of Cobb County from spending their money the way that they want. That the Braves as a franchise are the beneficiary of that spending isn't their fault. Clearly, there are better uses of tax money. I hope they have a very long term lease, so this doesn't happen again soon. And apparently the Cobb County voters don't get a say in the matter: http://deadspin.com/cobb-county-taxpayers-wont-get-a-say-on-funding-the-br-1462355602
  19. I think the real reason they're doing it is to control the land around the stadium.
  20. I read somewhere that Cobb County is paying for 2/3 of it.
  21. If they are due for a new stadium, then Miller Park will be obsolete in about 10 years.
  22. OK, to not be completely sarcastic... Gomez is an unreal defender and it's great he is being recognized for it. I'm glad he's finally reaching his potential.
  23. This World Series was like most presidential elections - one team (candidate) has to win, but I'm still going to be kind of upset regardless of which team/candidate does.
  24. I'm glad Gomez finally hit well enough to get a gold glove. Well done!
  25. I feel like Marquette never has bigs. They seem to sign more 6'5" - 6'6" swingmen than any team in the country.
