  1. MLB has to do that in order to save face. Otherwise it throws their whole testing system into question.
  2. Buster Olney needs to print a full retraction of his stupid MVP article.
  3. That source wasn't me was it? If so, please give me credit.
  4. Kinda weird that the ESPN website doesn't make any mention of a possible announcement.
  5. Ravech: I have been led to believe that reducing suspension is not an option, either 50 games or none (sounds like he's backtracking a little off his original tweet)
  6. I have a source that says Braun will be exonerated. That source is me.
  7. Well, he possibly already knows the outcome, but has been "warned" by MLB not to say anything and this is his way of looking "smart" when the announce is made. Also his way of covering himself if it's overturned. "In a surprise move...."
  8. Well at least we'll know and can get on with our lives. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst. More interested in the details behind everything than the outcome itself.
  9. I know some people don't consider this a tragic story, but I always feel for people that have so much talent and throw it all away. Obviously the guy is bringing this on himself but the tragedy to me is that no one ever taught him how to be a normal human being. I sincerely doubt he was born an [expletive deleted]. I hope he can turn himself around but I have my doubts. EDIT: language --1992
  10. It's lists like those that make me think pitching is a complete crap shoot. You draft guys and hope. They either turn out or they don't. That's why I never get upset or excited after a draft. Just wait and see.
  11. I like Mat a lot...maybe even love him. But I know deep down he's not the right one for me.
  12. Problem is Festa takes place a month before he gets here. Man, I read his post three times and never saw that. OK, ignore my suggestion.
  13. As an Italian, you might enjoy going to Festa Italiana. http://www.festaitaliana.com/main.html
  14. re: Moneyball It is not historically accurate. But then again, neither was the book in terms of giving credit to the pitching staff. They had to give this movie broad appeal and they did so. I've talked to a few people that don't like baseball but loved Moneyball. Contagion I liked this movie but I can't say I loved it. It never really got all that exciting to me but it was always interesting. It has some beautiful cinematography but the actors all seem to be going through the motions. There isn't a lot of depth to the characters, IMO. The scariest aspect of the film is that the plot is probably pretty close to how things would play out if there ever was a world wide pandemic. Decent movie but not great. Elite Squad: The Enemy Within This is a Brazilian action movie that keeps your attention throughout. It centers around a cop who fights the bad guys in his own department and government more than the bad guys on the street. The action starts right away and doesn't stop until the closing sequence. My only complaint is the ever present voice over from the protagonist. Totally overdone, IMO.
  15. Turkish Torpedo with 25 boards. Wow.
  16. I saw a documentary on IM just a year or two ago and they were selling out stadiums all over the world. I think they have a dedicated following that will travel all over the place to see them. Based on the live concert footage I saw, they still put on a heckuva show and Bruce can still hit the high notes.
  17. I can't do it everyday, but if I'm given some notice I could probably fill in here or there. Or if someone can't do it for a week I could potentially fill in there as well.
  18. Any time you move up in the lottery it is certainly lucky so I agree that getting the number 1 pick for the Bucks in 2005 was lucky. But there are different degrees of luck. The Bulls had a 1.7% chance of getting the first pick in the draft in 2008. Not to mention, it pays to get lucky the right year. Some years you have Lebron James, Blake Griffin, or Derrick Rose be the first pick and some year's its Michael Olowokandi.
  19. I think it was more she wanted to go get Rick rather than Herschel. In any event, her leaving now gives us a nice cliffhanger for next week. I thought that scene in the bar was really well done. The non fat guy from Philly played his part perfectly. I think someone needs to get offed pretty soon. Hopefully its the guy with the beard that hates Shane. He annoys me. EDIT: it was a bar not a diner
  20. Drive Ryan Gosling plays a stuntman by day and a getaway driver at night. He's pretty much a bad ass. He gets involved with his neighbor who has a young son only to find out her husband is coming home from prison shortly. He cares so much for the lady that he ends up trying to help out the husband when he gets in a jam with his old cronies. This leads to lots of cool violence and death. A very stylized movie that is shot very well. I don't think the script is all that original or interesting but it's such a neat movie to take in visually (and a terrific soundtrack) that I can forgive those shortcomings. Thumbs up. Ryan Gosling continues to make really interesting and daring choices.
  21. UW had a better team in 2004 (Harris' last year) and were hosed with a 6 seed so anything can happen I guess.
