  1. But Cubs fans are delusional. I want the opposite of what they want. It's how I prosper.
  2. Did you notice the lens flares inside the cave? Where there was no light source from which they could have emanated?
  3. Name dropper. I, for one, am jealous. Robert Ha! Hey if Kat can drop the Coen brothers I can drop Werner.
  4. And the migraines.
  5. He landed on a guy's foot and rolled his ankle. He has just been cursed.
  6. City of Life and Death This film by Chinese director Chuan Lu is a graphic representation of the Rape of Nanking in 1937 - a siege which to this day still causes conflict between Japan and China. Shot in black and white, it is an almost unrelenting look at the horrors of war. This is not for the faint of heart and certainly not a film you watch to be "entertained". The violence is not exploitative and not particularly gory but it is without question disturbing on many levels. It may sound like I'm bashing this picture but I'm not. It's a modern war film classic. The violence is used in such a way as to evoke a severe negative reaction to war (and it does so with stunning success) while at the same time demonstrating the capacity of human survival. I would put it up there amongst the best of the genre.
  7. We says stuff like this a lot, but I'm guessing if Prince helps Detroit get a championship (or two) within that time, they won't care all that much. They also will probably have him as the full time DH by then, which minimizes their risk somewhat.Everyone said it about the Astros and Carlos Lee, and they were 100% correct. They also said it about Soriano.
  8. Bad beat?
  9. Taint McFadden
  10. Nice win @ Miami. Granted they didn't have Wade but still a road win is a road win.
  11. I'm very confident they'll beat IU. I think PSU has all the makings of a trap game though. Coming off a big win against IU, OSU on deck at home for first place.....and PSU has beaten Purdue and Illinois at home this year. They aren't a complete pushover.
  12. UW could have shot like 35% from three and still won. They played much better defense in the second half.
  13. If you are up for some minor physical activity, there's a kayak company located under the bridge beyond center field. You can cruise around all over the place for a few hours. Kind of a neat way to see the city.
  14. Why do people think Hart would be a poor defender at first? Maybe he would reach as many grounders as Gamel (although I have no idea if that's true) but he'd probably be able to reach a lot more errant throws.
  15. Go to Primanti but prepare to be unimpressed. It's pretty average if you ask me.
  16. Kind of funny that after all the hoopla over Tokoto that UW ended up with a more highly rated prospect anyway. EDIT: misspelled Tokoto
  17. Leuer had a really nice all around game.
  18. I have Trout envy.
  19. Not a DVD review but I wanted to make mention that I met Werner Herzog today. He's a really nice guy.
  20. I'm a competitive person but I can't help but play "Things" just for the laughs. Everyone knows exactly what I wrote but I don't care as long as it's funny.
  21. This. Are we saying that if Suppan was named Juan Sanchez that we would have stalked him with pitchforks and torches?
  22. I stayed up until 5am playing a board game called "Things". Basically, you sit around and answer questions like "Things you shouldn't do at work" or "Things you would never say to your mother" and then you try and guess who said what. It gets better the more white russians you consume.
  23. That Grantland article is so full of holes and lack of research it's ridiculous.
