  1. "Let Yovani hit he does have the most power" That would be the smart move probably but Yovani is sitting out in the bullpen I think. Probably a good idea to bring him in the dugout while the bench is shorthanded, eh Ned?
  2. I mean pinch hitting a lefty against Hamels is by no means a guaranteed hit, but I like the odds of Counsell or Gwynn getting on base more than Bush.
  3. It boils down to a 4th/5th outfielder traded for a decent prospect. All in all - pretty fair return. BUT...Gross was left handed and one of the few guys that actually took a walk. He was ideal for that 7th spot in front of the pitcher and actually began hitting well and getting on base when he was moved there. Now I have no idea who they put there - options like Hall or Hardy both swing at junk too often and walk too little. I fear the there might be little production out of that spot the rest of the year.
  4. Too bad that SOS is based significantly on games within the division.
  5. DHonks, Just remember that 7 months is nothing. You are still really really young so don't rush into anything. I'd recommend giving it another 6 months at least before deciding one way or the other. Who knows...the kid may mature some in that time.
  6. Attacking? That's a strong word. And I'm not the only one that questioned his hustle - the Baseball Tonight guys made mention too. This isn't the first time he's taken his time getting to a ball in the outfield.
  7. Might have been a different story had Braun actually hustled after that single in the ninth.
  8. He still leaves too many on base. Hard to make a living for an extended period of time like that.
  9. "You love the kid (by all accounts), but don't want to put up with him when he has a bad day, this is ridiculous and pathetic. " So he should just be miserable the rest of his life?
  10. If I remember correctly, didn't he say it was really bad pitching to Arroyo in the 3rd inning and then more or less went away after that? Maybe it's just old scar tissue breaking up.
  11. Tell her that if she really loves you, she should give her son up for adoption. Just kidding.
  12. "Do you know what a TIF district is? Milwaukee has given them out to pretty much anyone that's asked - except for the original Pabst Brewery developers. I dont mean to change subjects, but you seem kind of bitter about this. You forget to mention though just how much money would have been involved in the TIF for the Pabst Brewery. IIRC it was between $70 and $80 million, just an absurd amount. It is more or less a grant too, b/c the city would get the money back through property taxes, meaning they basically wouldn't be receiving any tax revenue from it until the loan is paid off 20 years later, and who knows if it will even have been around 20 years later. " No, not bitter really. I supported that particular TIF but it was a fairly risky venture so I understand why the city balked.
  13. Yeah what does he have, one career HR? Two? He certainly is a conundrum. If he had Darren Ford speed he'd potentially be one of the best prospects in baseball I'd think. Or maybe if he played middle infield.
  14. "The fact that there has been no development in the area is probably directly related to the lack of planning by the city and county." Again, completely false. I'm going to start providing links since you seem to ignore people that actually live(d) in the city. http://www.mkedcd.org/parkeast/index.html "Remember, there are still many abandoned factories and warehouses right in the middle of the city, we're not talking about a city that believes in a these modern things like incentive zones and such." Do you know what a TIF district is? Milwaukee has given them out to pretty much anyone that's asked - except for the original Pabst Brewery developers.
  15. Can we please make this a cynicism free zone? It's bad enough that 90% of the threads are negative after a loss now people are invading the one little part of the site that's supposed to remain positive.
  16. The team is a game or so out of 1st and neither Weeks, Braun, or Fielder has really done anything offensively.
  17. As opposed to the Old Flash?
  18. The proposed location was on Water and Juneau. The site where MSOE has their athletic facility is part of that parcel. I would have bought a full season ticket package had they done that.
  19. Eduardo Perez on ESPN said he called some of his former teammates and they are kind of PO'd at Longoria for signing this deal. They think it lowers the market by a ton if he ends up being as advertised.
  20. Anyone used this site to sell their home? Just curious.
  21. I won't be there but if you tell Zim you went to Tosa East he might give you free stuff......ok probably not but you never know.
  22. Jeez, at this rate teams are going to start signing guys to longterm deals while they're still in the womb.
  23. Anyone just feel that aftershock?
