  1. Young had a really good walk rate all through his minor league career (his last three seasons his OBP averaged 97 points higher than his BA). I would think he'll improve on that as his pro career progresses.
  2. Bennett is a UWGB alum.
  3. But it wasn't that he spent time in AAA, it was that the scar tissue was cleaned up/out of his wrist. Rickie's health returned exactly when the doctors said it would over a year ago. This was a physical issue, not something Rickie magically figured out in his approach... which gives great reason to be excited about him entering 2008 healthy - the first such MLB season in his career I find it way too covenient to say that it was scar tissue only. He started hitting immediately upon his demotion to AAA - like the first game. I really doubt it was only improved health since that would probably manifest itself as a gradual improvement. It's more than likely a combination of mental and physical.
  4. It's too bad the Brewers couldn't retain Sarfate a little longer. I think general consensus was that if he found some control (i.e. lowered the walk rate) he'd have been a great option out of the pen.
  5. I think I was 70th after the first week - getting to 12th makes me a big winner. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. They hired Buzz. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=736536
  7. I'd cheer him. Thank goodness he jumped on Cincy's offer or else the Brewers would be stuck with that albatross for years.
  8. "I know growing up in MKE, it was always thought that eventually the I94 strip to Chicago would turn into a megalopolis. It just doesn't seem to be happening." I think it is. I drive that stretch monthly and it's getting more and more developed each passing year. Not to mention they are planning on expanding that stretch of highway to four lanes in each direction to handle increased traffic flow.
  9. And to be fair, Wisconsinites do like to drive 55 in the left lane.
  10. Where are all these abandoned warehouses downtown? I used to live downtown and there are no warehouses period much less abandoned ones. Maybe you're thinking Menomonee Valley?
  11. Estrada might have made it to third but he would have pulled a hammy on the way.
  12. OK, so you've just described about one half acre of the city of Minneapolis.
  13. "To me, big cities mean ghettos, grafitti, and gangs" That's what I call a bad neighborhood.
  14. I have a friend named Taint McFadden........ no lie.
  15. banana hammock
  16. Casey, MLB,com says 61 and 19 MPH winds. - they get their info from weather.com
  17. EDIT: As of 12:20CT, it was 70.5 degress, winds out of the WSW at a whopping 6mph(which is next to calm) Where are you getting the temp and wind from? Weather.com says 62 and windy in the 53213 area code (Wauwatosa) as of 1:05pm http://www.weather.com/outlook/homeandgarden/home/local/53213?lswe=53213&lwsa=Weather36HourHomeCommand&from=whatwhere
  18. 60 degrees and sunny is one thing. 60 degrees in the shade is another - which is most of Miller Park. Keep it closed.
  19. Yost looking smart for batting Kendall 8th today....
  20. "Nothing says "lack of confidence" like Ned yanking Ryan Braun for defensive replacements so often already. If he misses any at-bats for Gabe Kapler, I'll scream. " They were double switches - I think it's just coincidence but we'll see....
  21. Villy over 80 pitches - hope for a quick inning so he can throw one more.
  22. Agreed on H'Ville. That lineup is really solid 1 - 6.
  23. From what I recall there was little mention of Chris Paul around here when the Bucks had that #1 pick. It was all Marvin Williams vs. Bogut - might have been a post or two mentioning Paul but the vast majority of people split into the other two camps.
  24. Knight would be an odd choice. He'd give the school tons of exposure but you gotta figure he's only going to be around for two or three years tops and can you really expect championship caliber teams in that time? He's been to one Sweet Sixteen the last 13 or so seasons and hasn't been to a Final Four since 1992. If I were Marquette I'd focus elsewhere unless all they care about is publicity.
  25. "Sweeping the Cubs today seemed realistic until just recently." Based on what? Did they have killer instinct the first two games and then lose it today?
