  1. Hmm...is it any coincidence that the complaints were non-existent until June? Sort of like how I whine about the Metrodome only when the Twins are beating up on the Brewers? I'll have to see if I can find a way to determine home-only day/night splits.
  2. Maybe this is why he's pitched poorly. If you smoke weed everyday, forget about throwing strikes. Should we start calling him "Birdman" now?
  3. Weren't the concerns more to do with his knee and injuries than his ability? I still think he's going to be a very good NBA player when healthy.
  4. Biggest issue for me with Meeks is his size. Sort of like Charlie Bell, who is technically a pretty good defender IMO, but he still has a lot of trouble keeping up with bigger players.
  5. Something that should but never will happen: Send Jennings to the D-League for a year. I don't know why NBA teams are so reluctant to utilize their minor league affiliates, especially when so many of these "upside" picks end up being complete failures. The Bucks should have done that with Alexander too, and though he showed some signs of improvement when he finally got minutes toward the end of the season, his development is still far behind where it should be.
  6. If he actually ends up being good enough to bolt ASAP and not stay in Milwaukee long, its a great pick. I'd bet on either him or Illyasova. Personally I'm hoping its Illyasova, and I have a feeling that's also the direction the Bucks are leaning.
  7. I'm not too big on upside picks, but this isn't bad for #10, he easily could have gone a lot higher. I think this means Ridnour is on his way out...let's see if the Dallas rumors are true. Jennings definitely gets points from me for his comments on Darko Rubio, though.
  8. Where would they play? Breese Stevens is pretty much soccer-only now, and Warner Park is pretty far from campus. I'd imagine they would need a new stadium.
  9. I'm actually in the process of setting up a website with all of my findings, but I've put bits and pieces up on my mostly Fulham-oriented blog. I've always felt that soccer stats thrown around by the media are mostly useless, so I've kind been on a crusade to find and create some more meaningful numbers.
  10. To my knowledge, we can't sign CV until after July 1, so that doesn't make any sense since it would have to be a sign & trade.
  11. Yep, Howard has been great all season for Everton - second best keeper in the Premier League according to some Win Shares-inspired statistical work I did this season. Onyewu was supposedly signing with Fenerbahçe in Turkey, wonder if he's earned himself a look at some higher-profile clubs (TBF, the Turkish league is nothing to sneeze at) now? And I suspect Demerit might have get another look in the Premier League now.
  12. Very happy about all of this. Its likely that we'll draft a PG, so assuming Sessions is re-signed, Ridnour is surplus. If we can clear his salary, we can potentially pick up more draft picks, sign Ersan, or even an MLE if the right player was available.
  13. I can't stand Joe Buck. He is a DISGUSTING ACT. Artie Lange is at his best when paired with Norm MacDonald, though. Dirty Work was a terrific film.
  14. Its sort of like the offside rule in hockey, only the "blue line" moves along with the last defender (the one closest to his own goal line). If you pass to an attacking player further up the pitch, the player receiving the pass cannot be closer to the goal line than the last defender.
  15. He scores with his left, He scores with his right, That boy Clint Dempsey Makes Drogba look... This was the most impressive US win I've seen. Spain have been so good lately, I expected to get beaten pretty badly. Everybody played great, even Conor Casey. Hopefully Bradley has learned from his tactical errors against Italy and Brazil (not to mention Costa Rica and Hondouras) - if so, I think we're in pretty good shape.
  16. They need to release Bowen. Bowen's defense is way overrated, Mbah a Moute is younger and better. I don't think Thomas' contract is partially guaranteed like Bowens' is, and he's still a good player anyway. I hope they keep him, we need a better backup center. I'm starting to wonder if Malik Allen might re-think that player option now? Not that he'd get better offers anywhere else, but he'd probably be 4th choice at best at PF/C, and that's not even counting minutes that LRMaM or Joe Alexander may get: PF: Johnson/Thomas/Illyasova?/Elson/Allen C: Bogut/Thomas/Gadz/Elson/Allen I have a feeling that another trade will happen though, so we'll see.
  17. Joe Alexander hadn't either. That can work if you're in total rebuilding mode and he can learn on the job, but I don't see that happening with the Bucks. If he's not going to perform, Skiles will leave him on the bench.
  18. Yeah, that would have been preferable, but this deal is about as good as we could have hoped for. I like it. Now we can re-sign Sessions, our pick, and maybe Ersan - I'd take those over RJ any day.
  19. I really, really hope we pick a PF. I just can't see any of these PGs (and that includes Ricky Rubio and his 7+ turnovers per 40) being better than Ramon Sessions. If we're not going to get a significant improvement at that position out of the #10 pick, I'd rather just package it with a contract if at all possible, and use that money to re-sign a somewhat proven player.
  20. Same ad, but different reason...the Eric the Bike Man/McFarland's in Sauk City guy yelling WORKER'S COMPENSATION!!!!!!!!! bugs me even more. While we're on the subject of ads with people who sound like other people, I'm glad those old SBC DSL ads with that Garfield-sounding guy blabbering about Eric Clapton are dead. I hate radio ads.
  21. To be fair, Counsell's defense (which has been his biggest asset for awhile) doesn't show up in the box score. But then again, why not just say something like "Craig Counsell plays great defense at 3 positions"? Counsell is Shaq and Grace is Kobe, of course.
  22. I was listening to some generic sports talk radio this afternoon, and someone mentioned that Sabathia came out in the second innning and "didn't appear injured". My first thought was that he must have been starving.
  23. He actually said recently that he expected to start pitching again in about 5 weeks without any further setbacks. That was probably a month ago, and it would be awhile before he's close to being ready for the majors. I have a feeling that we'll see him toward the end of the season, but I certainly don't expect a significant contribution.
  24. I do believe that some guys will always have a higher BABIP than others, but .396 is ridiculous for anybody. He realistically could settle into a .310-.340 range (about where he was in the minors) and still have respectable numbers though, so I'll agree that he looks like a quality player until he proves otherwise.
  25. You just don't get it! They're naughty words! But I agree with you. The concept of offensive words reminds me of Jerry Seinfeld's joke about giving the finger. There are definitely wrong times to use them, but that really depends on who you're around, and whether or not they would be offended by it. If you're unsure, don't say it.
