  1. My thought is that anybody can pitch those innings in blowouts and it won't make much of a difference. In previous years, we've seen teams overpay for mediocre relievers playing above their head (like Gary Majewski last year), and Spurling seems like a good choice as somebody to cash in on.
  2. His ERA is right around 3.00, despite having a WHIP over 1.50. He seems lucky to me, having that Claudio Vargasesque ability to allow tons of baserunners, yet somehow manage to keep them from scoring. If he can get a few more garbage innings and bring his ERA back down under 3, he might be a player that some team would overpay for. If he's not going to be in the mix for more critical innings in Milwaukee, I think it makes sense to trade him while his value is probably at its highest. If Hall is going to be out for awhile, might it make sense to try to flip him for a right-handed outfield bat?
  3. I don't expect him to keep it up for too long, but a sub-3.00 ERA (who is also considered to be our worst reliever) makes for great trade bait. We could get something very useful at the deadline, and let one of our AAA relievers be the mop-up guy.
  4. This. Remember that Wayne Franklin got us Carlos Villanueva.
  5. I used to have the next-larger version (US-244?) of this, and it was great. It pretty much acts as a sound card, and whichever software you use can allow it to act as a multitrack recorder. I used Cubase SX several years ago (as well as its predecessor, I believe was simply called Cubase), and it was very nice, though a bit buggy at times. I haven't done any music stuff in awhile, but I'm sure it's much more stable now. Nuendo is pretty much the same software IIRC, they're made by the same company have have almsot identical interfaces. I mostly used it for sequencing, but it definitely well for recording.

  7. Based on last year's free agents, a platoon outfielder shouldn't cost more than $5 million tops (link). I'd take Gabe Gross at league minimum over Jenkins at $9 million.
  8. I don't think any one brand of hard drives are better than others - they all have about the same failure rate. Seagates have the best (5 year) warranty, so I usually buy those.
  9. Here are what I have (I'll try to get some pictures later): Quebec Nordiques - white, elephant playing hockey logo Vancouver Canucks - black, 1990s skating hockey puck logo Chicago Blackhawks - red St. Cloud State - white, Montreal Canadiens wannabe logo on front The 90s Canucks is my favorite hockey logo ever, I wish they never would have changed it. I get lots of comments when I wear it.

  12. Robert Horry is the Craig Counsell of basketball.
  13. Yost has a uniform...why doesn't he get out there and pitch? Come on Ned, do something!
  14. Has Marlon Byrd always been that fat?
  15. I don't understand what the big deal is. Flipping a bat or watching a home run seem like odd, arbitrary things to get upset about. Who decided that these things were considered to be "showboating" in the first place? If he were jumping up and down, pumping his fists, and making faces at the pitcher, then yeah, I could understand people having a problem with that. But freaking out about how he sets his bat down? Who cares?
  16. From what I can tell, women's college softball is 50% cheerleading and 50% softball. That said, if I were a coach, I'd have every player bunt for a hit every time. Unless you have Johnny Estrada's sister batting, I'd think it would be impossible to not get on base with the short distance to first.
  17. "HOW DO I BLOWN SAVE?"
  18. Do you know what kind of router/firewall they have, and how many IPs they have available? You'll probably need to add a secondary IP to the public side, and set up a 1:1 NAT mapping to the server's IP - this will ensure that mail comes in and goes out on the same IP (some spam filters are picky about this). Technically, the server only needs to have port 25 reachable from the outside to receive mail, though you may need 80 or 443 as well if you want to use OWA or RPC over HTTPProxy for remote access to email. If you use an external spam filtering service, you will want to lock port 25 down to their IP range only. This site has a lot of good howtos on exchange-related things, and usually include which ports you need open on your firewall.
  19. I think any time you crash into a parked truck on the side of the road with strobe lights flashing, you caused the accident.
  20. Anyone see that guy in the crowd fall//jump over the railing into the bullpen on the Martin HR?
  21. This season's Klements commercial sounds way too much like Rocky Top http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  22. Dear Bill Hall, Good job. Love, A-Rod
  23. I can understand the road losses against good teams, but the Twins aren't even that good. I don't care what anyone says. They two good players and a bunch of Craig Counsellesque crap and Rube Baker pitching. We should be winning this game 11-2.
  24. No major league manager uses their closer when the game is on the line in the 7th or 8th inning if its not a "save situation" either. I just thought it was too late too be wasting an out. A runner on first with two outs isn't much, but it's the best chance we've had since the first inning.
  25. Seriously, was it really that important to let Capuano pitch another 1/3 inning? Even if he would have made it through the 6th, is it really that important that Capuano pitches instead of Villanueva?
