  1. Max Wagner. Dominant hitter with a beautiful swing. He's off the board now, but in time we'll realize he should have went top 10.
  2. Yup, plus that's not curved for competition, so it's really even worse. If the goal is more hard grounders to SS, this is your guy.
  3. He's not high average. I'm happy when they make smart moves. I defended the Frelick selection just a year ago, so it looks like you should do more research and less accusations.
  4. Most teams have 1, we have none. Some teams have numerous. You really thought players have stopped making the big leagues? That's just us (hitters only, we have a great understanding of pitching).
  5. That's a totally not good at all in college, compared to other 1st rounders, plus he played low level competition
  6. So adding more nothing is the answer?
  7. Compared to other college 1st round picks, that's actually straight up terrible. Then you should realize that he's playing in a terrible conference.
  8. No one is questioning their prowess with pitching( I hope) but they haven't produced a hitter in years, so it's near impossible to say they're drafting hitters well
  9. So what's the plan? To add more loft? Will that be enough to add a ton of production? He's not good now, playing in a bad conference.
  10. Wow, laughably bad pick. He hasn't hit and might not be a SS. The Brewers no long produce hitters because they no longer draft good hitters.
  11. They only went HS in 2018 because there wasn't a college hitter to ever consider. The same with why they went with Small. The preference of Johnson will be college hitter, because the analytics favor that approach. Obviously, you can't force it if the players aren't there, but it looks like they will be this year. Getting a 3B coming off a 1.348 OPS sophomore year at #27 is light years better than pre-Johnson when we took an OF coming off a 933 OPS junior year, in the same conference. Just have to cross our fingers that Wagner lasts that long. Yes, there's way more to it than just OPS, but those things are favorable with Wagner too.
  12. The Brewers have proven they can build a outstanding, home grown pitching staff without impact from the 1st round of the draft, and they're also proving they can't build an offense without 1st round impact bats. This draft will have some high quality college bats available at 27, so picking one of them is will be what they do in July. Green Bay native and ACC players of the year 3B Max Wagner could be there according to some mocks, and he'd be an obvious selection. He's had a monster year at the plate as a draft eligible sophomore.
  13. Can Brosseau legitimately play SS? Can he eliminate the need for Urias as the backup SS?
  14. Mitchell, Turang, and Howell yes. 27 year old Ray? Not even a consideration. Howell is a super fun prospect who is just getting started.
  15. Agreed. 14 homes in 31 High A games. We've never seen a better streak. Fun to watch.
  16. These rankings couldn't figure out that Woodruff, Burnes and Peralta were phenomenal prospects. They're dominant All-Star starting pitchers. It doesn't bother me the same people can't figure out that Ashby should be a top 10 overall prospect. He's a future dominant starter and All-Star. Most don't even have Ashby top five for the Brewers. If he's not top 5 in our system, then we must have one of the greatest farm systems of all time. The rankers need to get better.
  17. I assume Ramano gets dropped today, Barker get his opportunity?
  18. The Mendez story is really something. A 28 year old basketball player turned baseball player getting drafted. Throws 97, so who cares how old he is.
  19. Love what Johnson is doing. Black can hit. Easy pick.
  20. The reason we have such a lowly ranked farm system is because we have graduated or traded for over half of the current 26 man roster which has won the 9th most games in MLB at the All Star break this year, combined with poor draft position because the MLB team has won the 7th most games since 2018 with all the players they graduated or acquired via trade from their poorly rated farm system. All our 1st round picks post Ray have performed consistently & steadily climbed the ladder through the system. Just because you don't understand or disagree with the philosophy doesn't mean it isn't working. I hear this low draft position excuse all the time but organizations like Tampa pick as late or later and have done quite well. The reason we have a lowly ranked farm system is past directors Sied and Montgomery struggled. Also because we've never been productive on the international level. Todd Johnson has been brilliant since talking over, and progress seems to be in the making in the international level.
  21. If you can play SS, you can most likely play 3rd (or OF). And if you can play CF, you can play LF or RF Please tell me which of the shortstops in our system has the bat to play third base. Howell and Warren are really good 3B prospects, it's just that few realize it yet. No need to move a SS there.
