  1. On the other hand, that mock has Kelenic almost falling to us, which would be fun though seemingly very unlikely. Pre- draft demands could make another crazy draft day.
  2. That scouting report is good, but I'll dispute that he doesn't have a positional home. He's a perfect fit at 2B. He had a bad year last year, but must not have had a strong spring to get the Braves to release a 25 year old with such versatility. The Crew must have helped him make some sort of change at the plate. He started at SS for CS today. Could the Crew be comparing him at SS to see if he is a better option for Sogard? He also puts pressure on Perez. It will be interesting to see if Moore can continue to hit like this. Numerous roles for him in Milwaukee if the bat is real.
  3. Moore continues to crush. I'd love to hear what changed when he got to the Milwaukee organization. He looks like a big leaguer. He's passed up Nate Orf.
  4. Remember a few months back when so many wanted to give him TJ surgery despite not having a torn UCL? Good times. Huge props to the Brewers for doing their due diligence on Hiura pre draft and having the stones to make the pick. What a steal. Like others have said, he's our next Braun.
  5. 2B is a huge hole, and we'll upgrade that spot just like we did last year.
  6. Except that they had a catcher with major league experience hitting .328/.367/.467 at AAA who is just a few years removed from being a top 100 prospect. Frankly I saw Bethancourt in Arizona and thought he was very impressive. There's more to this than meets the eye. Maybe it's about pitcher development at CS and wanting those guys throwing to the same guys essentially all year. Kratz had a higher OPS in AAA this year than Bethancourt, and that gap widened when curved for park factors. I still really like Bethancourt, but he really needs at-bats, after only getting 26 last year. What a great debut for Kratz.
  7. I drank a good amount amount tonight & after reading those above.... this is absolutely perfect! Sogard is a good bench bat.... that is about it. Villar who has played well this season simply has more god given baseball talent. On their best day, Villar is head and shoulders above Sogard. Segura had an awful 1 1/2 for us after looking like a star. We gave up on him & traded him & now he is a Star player in this league. Villar looked unreal to start his career here. Struggled from July to end of season that year. Was pretty awful until September but since.... he has been a good ball player. Not, wow he is an all-start good again but a good fit in our line up. He just had that talent that he can be as good as anyone in baseball at his position when he is on. Sogard does not. I’m glad DS & CC stuck it out with him Sorry, but Villar still stinks. He has a 677 OPS despite a high BABIP. I doubt he can continue to roll the ball through the infield at this rate all season. He'll need to be replaced at the trade deadline.
  8. Chacin will likely improve on his 3.90 career ERA. He spent 2/3s of his career pitching at Coors Field. That makes a good number even more impressive. Now he's pitching under Dereck Johnson. Look for him to continue to be really really good.
  9. I'll guarantee Sogard won't start tonight. Only because the Crew face a LHP tonight.
  10. Really smart moves. Arcia shouldn't be accruing MLB service time while learning to hit. He's too valuable long term for that. Saladino is a good player now that that Brewers allowed him to go back to the leg kick he used earlier in his career. Sogard won't play much, that spot is fairly low impact. Also smart to continue to keep fresh arms in the pen.
  11. Saladino actually managed to be WORSE last year in 253 AB's than Arcia has been so far this year, amazingly, with a .484 OPS. I love that he's been productive in his time here so far, but he's not even a stop-gap solution if Arcia doesn't figure it out offensively. Last season was an outlier for Saladino, and was the result of the White Sox taking away the leg kick in his swing. When the Brewers picked him up, they put the leg kick back in. Saladino's 2016 season, when he had an OPS over 700 at age 26, is probably an accurate look of his offensive ability. He's also a tremendous defender, and more than worthy of being a MLB utility player.
  12. I just never understood why they rushed Logan through the rehab process. They could have kept him down longer, why didn't they? They seem to be in love with the guy, I just don't see when he earned that admiration? It just seems out of character for the organization.
  13. Opinions welcome, but he spent the offseason belittling anyone who suggested Jeffress might pitch better when pitching for the Brewers, and scoffing at the thought of considering Aguliar for the 25 man roster. He wouldn't even acknowledge that great winter ball results could suggest Aguilar is improving.
  14. I actually like it. Santana is probably going to be a better hitter than Aguilar by the time the year is out, and could be much better. He looks like he's out of his slump, and Aguilar's ridiculous streak of good luck is probably over. Besides, the 3-hole doesn't have to be your best hitter. That should be 1-2-4. And Santana has much better speed than Aguilar, which isn't saying much Since you suggested Aguilar's "ridiculous streak of good luck is probably over", he's hit 3 homers in 2 games. Nothing lucky about home runs. You bagged on Aguilar the entire offseason and refused to acknowledge the evidence I myself and others put forth for you to understand that Aguilar has improved. Sometimes players do that. With how absolutely wrong your opinions were this offseason on Aguilar and Jeffress, its probably time for you to not have such strong opinions. It's baseball played by humans, it's not completely predictable. We're learning new ways to understand the game every day.
  15. He's 26. He had an OPS over 1000 in his brief stint with the Yankees last year. He struggled in a stint with the Angel's at age 24, but I don't think that's enough to write off his career. He improves at the minor league level each year.
  16. Choi went 2-2 in his return from illness, and then was replaced. I'd think he's going to meet the Crew in Minnesota.
  17. Choi hasn't played since the 12th because of an injury. It will be interesting to see if he's back in the lineup tonight for Colorado Springs. It's maddening that we went from having what was perceived as too many 1Bs, to having possibly none available to DH this weekend.
  18. True, but is it really fair to judge a pitcher breaking ball while pitching in Colorado? His breaking ball should be a huge weapon for him going forward.
  19. It's on field performance. 635 OPS despite an unsustainable babip, and bad defense. He's not good.
  20. The Brewers could really use some extra bullpen coverage tonight. We can send Woodruff down, but not a lot of options to come up. It's Freddy Peraltas turn to start today, could he get the call?
  21. Bethancourt is out of options, so it didn't make sense to expose Bandy to waivers with Vogt looking like he'd be back quickly, and then have to expose Bethancourt to waivers. With it looking like Vogt will be out longterm, Bethancourt might now get his shot. Also, Bethancourt had just 26 at-bats last year, it is probably good for him to be in AAA playing regularly.
  22. Mejia WAS a top 20 prospect. Now just one of hundreds of prospects struggling to adjust to advanced pitching. Add in that he's not advanced defensively, and he's losing luster. Still an interesting prospect, but no one is giving up one of the most dominant relievers in the game for him.
  23. When looking to the minors to replace Sogard, remember that he had a 918 OPS at AAA last year. I'm guessing the Brewers are getting close to replacsing him, but an upgrade to Sogard will likely need go conme from outside the organization. Dubon drew his 2nd walk of the season yesterday, hopefully ge starts to do that regularly, to give us an option inside the organization.
  24. A hard no. Mejia has a 547 OPS at AAA this year. Nottingham is better defensively and is closer with the bat. We are not trading from the big league roster.
