  1. Sold!! I'd take Miley at that price! Saying that, I fully expect him to sign a 2/22 somewhere else!
  2. Given the state of FA, nothing cheap, and the barren farm system. This would most likely be the most cost effective way to go. Ramos just feasted on RHP in the minors, with LHP being a little tougher on him, a platoon of him and Braun at 1st would be OK with me.
  3. Well starting next year marijuana is no longer being tested for in the minor leagues, and it has never been part of the MLB testing program so that shouldn’t be much of a concern moving forward in terms of a possible suspension. It's not so much that the pot bothers me, it's a judgement issue. You know that you will be tested and you do it anyway?
  4. Filla’s career numbers in the minor leagues include a .412 OBP and .843 OPS. Would be worth a shot if he can lay of the weed! smh
  5. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/12/josh-donaldson-increasingly-seen-as-candidate-for-4-year-deal.html Yet another hard pass!
  6. 100% I don't expect them to spend big for pitching or hitting.
  7. To be honest, I don't think it wise to dream on Ryu or Donaldson either.
  8. It does me too! Having said that, don't be surprised if he's opening day starter at 1B/3B!
  9. At this rate, if Stearns wants to sign starters, it's going to be ones with big question marks with them. Alex Wood, Colin McHugh, Taijuan Walker, maybe Kevin Gausman at best. With the contracts handed out so far, I'm prepping for Logan Forsythe at 3rd and Wilmer Flores at 1st! Crazy money being thrown around!
  10. Why not? The park is arguably due for a mid-life upgrade... Fake turf is an upgrade? They just overhauled the food areas, a new scoreboard is on the docket, and new seats are in the near future. Thank you, maybe it's changed since I was last on it. The fake stuff is hard on the body, Braun and Cain will be using those Mart Carts by July.
  11. That's exactly what to do, if you can get Smith here for 5 years by taking Lowie's contract for one year. It potentially solves 2 problems for under $11million!
  12. I mean, maybe they can just put turf in the 3 foot by 3 foot box Braun always stands in. That's the only really bad spot on the field.
  13. Yep, the one that has my interest is 3B Christian Santana, http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=655996#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL I like the upside. Wow. I thought Oscar Gonzalez (https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=gonzal003osc) has a rough time taking walks... BTW - Oscar is also R5 eligible. A rebuilding team like Detroit might have interest in Oscar but I doubt most teams would take the chance. Let's say they both need a little more plate discipline! And Ramos, sure why not! When when a 1B is signed, gonna need a backup, since I believe my thought of having Braun play first in a soft platoon is more than likely not going to happen!
  14. Yep, the one that has my interest is 3B Christian Santana, http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=655996#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL I like the upside.
  15. Believe both of your post are right.
  16. they wouldn't have taken them. Grandal let it be known that he wanted to secure a high AAV, while it was surmised he wanted to come to Miller Park to put up a career year rather than playing 100 games between LA, SD, and SF. It he supposedly turned down 3 years and $54m last year, what would we have offered? As for Moose, he came back for comfort, to chase a career year, and to audition his versatility. I expected him to get 3 years and $40 million. I didn't expect the 4th year at such a high AAV. Simply put, your point is invalid, as what drew them to us was the 1-year deal I anticipated Grandal would a one year thing, but I actually thought Moose could have been brought back with a 3/36-42. Reds are going all in.
  17. That could still happen with the brewers I understand why, but I hope they bring Nelson back. If they don't, I'm still going to follow him close just to see how he performs after the surgery. If anyone deserved a mulligan for last season it was Jimmy.
  18. Late to the discussion, was picking my jaw off the floor! Not surprised that Moose went somewhere else, but that contract is a total shocker!
  19. If the Mets are offering Davis AND McNeil, jump on it! It creates one issue every couple of days, but solves two everyday.
  20. Trying to piece together a rotation. 1. Woodruff 2. ????? 3. Houser 4. Lauer 5. Nelson/Burnes/Peralta/Faria/Suter. May the best man win! Just need that #2, lots of names possible, those that peaks my interest are Ryu, Miley, Wood, Teheran and Porcello. Ryu is going to get a round $20 mil a year, so that's not going to happen. Teheran has lost velocity to where his average fastball was 89.9 mph last year. Trending down, no thanks. Porcello, might be a good bounceback chance, changing leagues would benefit him and he would probably go for a 1 year contract. Problem is it appears it would be upwards of 10mil+ and is flyball heavy, not a good fit in Miller and that is too rich for this club. This leaves me with Miley and Wood. Wood has the higher upside and would again be open to a one year prove it deal, last year the back injury just derailed his entire season, very effective in '17 and'18, but even then he was averaging around 6 innings per game. Just not sure if I would sink 8-10 million on a one year deal. I like Miley, wish they would have brought him back last year, I think he just wore down late season in Houston. We know who he is and what he's capable of and he could be signed for a reasonable contract, 2/14-16? And that's it, for me the biggest bang for the buck is Miley. i know teams are really not to up on reunions, but this makes too much sense for me.
  21. I agree completely. Forget Rendon. If Stearns is looking to spend big money, spend it on Moose (3/$33M) - Wheeler (4/$80 with a 5th year including buyout) - Bentances (2/$12M). Could have all three for the money mentioned for one year of Rendon. Until Moose signs for 4-50, Wheeler 4-96, and Betances for 3-21. I think after Pomerance's deal, Grandal's etc, the cost is higher than what is believed until we reach the new year. About the max I would go to for Moose would be 3/36 with a 4th year option, really wish Erceg/Gatewood would have come on stronger, since we wouldn't be here if they would have panned out better. I just can't see throwing that amount of cash at Wheeler and Betances, too much. I'm having a hard enough time trying to decide whether they should tender Shaw as it is.
  22. Bieber gave up a lot of HRs last year, but he would be one that I would consider trading Hiura for. I have to wonder why would the Tribe even do it though.
  23. Thinking that Lauer steps right in the rotation. And my wish for a lefty starter is complete, no need for a free agent.
  24. I was lukewarm on Grisham, Davies, I liked him quite alot, think many around here didn't hold him in high regard due to his lack of a blazing fastball. The combo of having him throwing 88-90mph fastball and then bringing in someone with a 95+ fastball was a good strategy IMO.
  25. He was projected around 2/18 in a few places. So I agree, it looks like free agency is going to be expensive this year. Waiting to see what Pom got from the Padres, that 3rd year is looking like a trend.
