  1. Anybody hear why Helms hasn't been activated? I thought the plan was one rehab game and back today. Also is Ned trying to protect draft position by playing Conti instead of Clark? That bottom of the order may be weakest I've seen all year with Conti, Perez (is hitting about .140 since the all star break) and Clayton who exhausted his weekly hit total in one game yesterday.
  2. I thought Clancy was responding to the post asking what Ben Ford throws and he mixed up his Bens. Most of us have seen what Sheets throws. I have no idea what Ford features but he's 6'7". With Ben Sheets, Matt Ford and Ben Ford all Brewer property, how long before they find a Matt Sheets? Or another Dan Kolb?
  3. I think Clancy meant to be commenting on Ben Ford, not Ben Sheets. Whatever he's throwing, its been effective. The question I have is how much credit goes to Mike Caldwell? Not to knock Mike Maddox but it would be nice someday to see Mike Caldwell back in Milwaukee. For those of us old enough to remember, back in the day, his confrontations with Reggie Jackson were classics.
  4. How about Ben Ford? 65 K's and just 13 walks in 73 innings. This from a guy who last year had 83 K's and 74 walks in 142 innings. If he keeps this up, those numbers should earn him a look in September.
  5. Gotta like what we've seen from Jason Shelley. It's a pretty big step up from the Frontier League to AA but he's certainly handled it so far. It's only 4 starts but his K/BB ratio of 4.8/1 is impressive. Good to see the Brewers looking everywhere for talent. I thought they gave up too early on Matt Hammons, another indy league find. He could have helped out at High Desert. He's now dominating Florida State league hitters for the Cardinals organization. If Shelley continues on this pace, he could be another guy in the Brewer mix sometime next year.
