  1. Shout out to Tyrone Taylor. He's been the forgotten man in the Brewer system. He's still just 24.
  2. Orf had 30 doubles for Brevard in 2014, and 26 for Biloxi in 2015. His career OBP is .387. I'm sure as a 5'9" middle infielder, they didn't play him deep in those places either. It's very, very difficult for little guys like Orf to overcome the perception that he's just doesn't fit the profile of a big league player. But he's produced and still has a job at age 28. Nobody is expecting him to be an All Star, but the alternatives have all had a shot and found wanting. I say give him a shot. Heck if he hits .250 and gets on at a .330 clip, it's a step up from what they have. By the way, Brandon Phillips is still out there too.
  3. DFA Drake, then when Logan comes back, send Suter to AAA to keep him stretched out. What did surprise me was Suter's notching the LOWEST exit velocity of any major-league starter. He's been unlucky, not bad. He's got the 2nd best FIP of all the starters at 3.81. All the starters have done their jobs to this point. Suter is simply the best option for the pen among the current group of starters.
  4. Nashville? You mean Colorado Springs. Burnes is pitching tonight at home, so I don't think you'll see him.
  5. We can only hope the proverbial "regression to the mean" will occur soon. Arcia got hot last May and he's a lot better hitter than he's showing. Sogard and Perez are both close to .100 points below their career numbers. Pina might not be the hitter he was last year but he's better than this. I've never been completely sold on Santana, but 2 extra base hits? Major league hitters luck into 3 times that many in a month normally.
  6. One option I can't see happening is Saladino being DFA'd. He was brought in to provide an alternative in the middle infield. He's getting closer to a promotion. Suter would give them 3 lefties in the pen. Drake is expendable.
  7. At this point I'd give Nate Orf a shot.
  8. Maybe Wilkerson lands on 60 day DL? He hasn't pitched all year.
  9. Why not give Nate Orf a shot? He's hit at every level, can play all over, doesn't strike out much and is decent with the glove. His minor league numbers compare favorably with Whit Merrifield who finally got a shot with Royals after years of toiling in the minors.
  10. Any news on why Tyrone Taylor is on the DL? He was off to a nice start.
  11. How about Miley to the Yankees for Walker?
  12. Apparently you haven’t seen anything that Neil Walker has done this year. Already benched and probably close to being DFA If he does get DFA'd, they should pick him up in flash. He's got too long of a track record, especially in the NL Central, to be scared away by 100 or so poor AB's.
  13. In the big picture heading into 2018 Guerra returning to his 2016 form while not critical, was something that would keep this rotation in the top half of the league until Nelson's return. He's doing just that. If Nelson comes back close to his 2017 form in the next 6-8 weeks, the should take off. But they need to add a middle infield bat before the deadline.
  14. Both teams played in the same conditions. They’ve out hit us each game and obviously scored more runs. Wrong. Brewers handed them the game on Friday on Sogard's error. Both sacrifice flies that drove in runs in that game are long, long gone on virtually any other day. Aguilar smoked a ball to left that would have easily traveled well over 400 feet in MP. Yelich's drive with the bases loaded ends up in the loge level at MP. That being said, when playing in those conditions, the mindset of hitters has to change and defense becomes all important. Brewers handed the Cubs another freebie run today, then failed to get Cain in from third with nobody out and two of their best hitters up. Yelich swung at a ball a foot off the plate for strike three. If the score is 0-0. or 1-1, Counsell probably uses someone other than Drake in the 7th. Even there, one run scored because Arcia fell asleep. Two of the three hits off Guerra were popups. He matched Quintana pitch for pitch.
  15. If Aguilar is the a Brewers best hitter that begs more questions than answers. He's certainly one of them and deserves to be an everyday player with Thames out.
  16. There's still something missing with the Bucks franchise that a new venue isn't going to solve. Hard to put a finger on it, but they haven't found the solution.
  17. It's a fairly safe assumption that the Twins will be sellers at the deadline and Dozier will be available. It's still possible that they can feast on the White Sox, Royals and Tigers enough to contend for a wild card, but right now the AL playoff teams are pretty well set,
  18. Arcia should be a star by now. His offense is holding him back and that may be on Coles. On the other hand, Coles doesn't make out the lineup and why a manager would sit Aguilar with Thames on the DL is beyond me.
  19. Doesn't help that the manager sits one of his best hitters 2 out of 3 games against the Cubs. Why isn't Aguilar in the lineup every day?
  20. Wanna give us a taste? In general just emphasizing all the miscues in their condescending way. Hard to argue. Brewers play like a team not ready for prime time.
  21. I might be dating myself, but coaches ever hit fungoes to outfielders any more? I know the days of teams taking infield before games are long gone, but if you have a team used to not wind or sun, hitting them flyballs before games would make sense.
  22. Brewers are a terrible "elements" team. Part of that is playing indoors half the time. Part is poor preparation. That's on the coaches and players. Part is they all seem to want to look "cool".
