  1. Did you know the Packers, Darryn Colledge when you were there? Isn't that where he is from, before four years at Boise State?
  2. Mass... Nice work with TH. He's just envious that he was beaten to the punch. He's a lazy journalist and had for a long time had a monopoly on the distribution of "all things Brewers." That is no longer, and he's feeling heat. I'm amused that he has been a professional for nearly 25 years, but just learned a "good lesson" about the over-reporting of the Yost firing story. Twenty-five years and you've just learned a "good lesson" on reporting things that are not accurate? Tom, you report poorly all the time. Come on. He's an apologist, and worse, a guy who give 75% effort and is out-maneuvered all the time with new media enterprises. When he's embarrassed like this, he has a choice....work harder, or be better at what he does. He's a "lifer" and doesn't want to do either. He's a decent guy, but his career has peaked and doesn't want to be pushed to be more accountable. I noticed how the story from the local paper reported the signing, yet the "bolded" name did not show up in the official signing thread until it was officially announced. That's how is it supposed to be done. You did great....TH is still chasing his tail.
  3. Haudricourt is just a guy doing a job. The many people that contribute so much insight and information on this site are feeding a passion. A single person "doing a job" will always lose out to the many people feeding a passion. Haudricourt is being defensive about the fact that people he views as "amateurs" can do his job far better than him...and beat him routinely to the punch with stories, and have far more knowledge and information about a subject matter, when he fashions himself as the subject matter expert. He has unparalleled access to the team, but is routinely out-reported by the folks on this site...and he knows it.
  4. Wow....I usually think I'm ahead of the curve on this kind of stuff but have never heard of "vitamin v" being used as a "pick me up."
  5. Having children changed me in many ways....all for the better. I hope you experience the same, Toby.
  6. How is it possible for them to use all these arms? I'm excited that we are making a commitment to pitching...but where do all these guys play? Edit: noticed this question has been asked a couple of times already.
  7. X... I wanted to thank you for the great analysis. I would agree with CJ that I don't think anyone thinks it will be a quick fix. As a matter of fact, I am hoping they don't take "more polished, lower ceiling" guys in an attempt to add more immediate help. I really appreciated the insight though...that took some work. I would expect either four or five of these top six picks to be pitchers. It sure would be nice to hit on two.
  8. I wanted to mention that I was listening to their show at 4:15 PM yesterday during a discussion about Prince Fielder and they were talking about possibly trading Prince (given the limitations of total salary on the team and LaPorta being around). During the conversation, they wondered aloud about what Prince would be worth in a trade and asked if someone from Brewerfan.net could weigh in as to the value. All is well again in Brewerfan.net kingdom. Perhaps someone can contact them and share some ideas about Fielder's worth (Prince for Kershaw!).
  9. Schmuck is Yiddish for "obnoxious or contemptible person." It can also mean clumsy and less refined. That was my understanding...and that was the result from dictionary.com as well.
  10. Where else is eating cake as your main course so acceptable? Muffins....they are nothing more than bald cupcakes. Pancakes....fried cake with syrup. (this is from a Jim Gaffigan bit for those of you in the 'secret club').
  11. Brawl is really cool. Picked it up a few days ago and love it....or I think I would. My kids have not stopped playing. Galaxy is great, as previously mentioned. It was my favorite until the Brawl game was released. Super Mario Kart comes out in a couple of weeks....it looks awfully cool....comes with a steering wheel for the Wii.
  12. I do know they are focused on a single person right now. If they are rejected by that person today/tomorrow, they will expand the search to the next level of candidates.
  13. It's possible they reach agreement with the next coach as early as today. They have someone very specific in mind. If they can't get this guy, they will expand their search. But they are working on it today.
  14. Because I know Patrick will be visiting here sometime soon....and trying to put the six picks in perspective; how does this draft rate to others in the recent past? Is this a good year or bad year to have all these high picks?
  15. I was going to ask the same question about Escobar. I guess with all the notice he received in major league camp this spring, that I expected him in Nashville. Who is playing SS there?
  16. Barcade BarCade Barcade 2010
  17. Ted Simmons finishes the year as Brewer manager. Ned coaching a gritty team of high schooler's next season. Prince's HR's and RBI totals are both down this year (needs to take 150 walks or more as he'll be pitched around) Corey Hart is the most consistent player on the roster Sheets has some dominating outings and other than a brief stint on the DL, wins 17 games (he signs elsewhere after the season) Gagne is released in August Luis Pena flashes brilliance in AAA, but is not consistent. He improves and is better each of the next three seasons in Milwaukee JJ Hardy is on the DL twice this season Parra finishes the season with 12 or more wins Suppan has a +5.00 ERA Hall is better than last year, but not as good as the year prior Team disappoints and is prone to mental lapses, costing Yost his job and finishing in third place in the division.
  18. hahaha.....some good points. Which corporation wants to be identified with management dysfunction and consistently underperforming expectations?
  19. I've been told the team is not for sale. That surprises me quite a bit, as it obviously has been for sale in the past. I heard that Herb's nephew, Dan Kohl might be interested in obtaining the team when he's ready to move on, but I've also heard he has no interest. Seeing that I've contradicted every statement I made, it's time to sign off!
  20. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=720886 Lead story in the Journal/Sentinel today, but of course Brewerfan.net broke this story about nine months ago (I couldn't find the old thread, but I tried).
  21. Also, a league source told The News that the Bucks' owner, Milwaukee Sen. Herb Kohl, yesterday rejected a trade that would have sent Randolph and either Fred Jones or Jared Jeffries to Milwaukee for a package including Bobby Simmons, Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric, who all have long-term contracts. -- New York Daily News I cannot believe we rejected that trade. We move three bad contracts and non-factors for Randolph...he has questionable character but is better than all three of our bad contracts combined. It's hard to overcome bad ownership...this is a top-down issue.
  22. Hmmm...no mention of Sal Bando or Dean Taylor either.
  23. Braveheart We Were Soldiers Heat
  24. The Wii wireless remote is awfully cool. Why don't the other game makers (microsoft or sony) have something similar? I am sure there are some patent issues on the particular technology, but the concept cannot be protected. I'm surprised the other guys haven't created something similar.
