I don't think it has much to do with Vick feeling he was above the law because he was a big time well paid athlete.I think he was just a rotten dude that happened to strike it rich because he was born a great athlete and his paycheck allowed him the means to pursue his love for this vile practice.Give most rotten people alot of money and they may not use it for dogfighting, but odds are high their true colors will come out and trouble will follow of some kind regardless of their wealth and status. This wasn't the first problem to find Vick,i suspect he took part in quite a few things the Falcons wouldn't have been happy to know about. He simply got busted in this case because he trusted a scummy cousin to live in his home and run this operation. Most criminals aren't exactly the brightest fish in the sea.

Out of place to tell a sister how to raise her kid?
danzig6767 replied to danzig6767's topic in Off-Topic Forum
Thanks for all the responces first of all.To answer a few things 1.My mother has tried saying things to my sister, but as i said,my sister is very headstrong and feels she is raising her son how everyone should raise their kids.Plus,my mom and sister are very close and my mom fears wrecking their relationship because my sister can get defensive about this stuff and hold a grudge. My mom made suggestions in the past, when they were ignored,my mom gave up for the most part. 2.As for me,i haven't shut up fully. To be honest,my sister needs what i and my daughter provides in terms of babysitting. She doesn't have the money to pay one and she knows i love my nephew and would never harm him, that trust is vital to her.So she puts up with knowing that when she isn't around,i do things with my nephew or let him do things she never would.Unlike my mother though,i'm not really afraid of offending my sister, but i know i wouldn't have wanted someone continually harping on me about how to raise my daughter.I basically would have said mind your own business. So i'm conflicted given i've already in multiple instances while at events/gatherings told her to lighten up. 3.The situation of my nephew not holding his thang while peeing and thus often missing the mark isn't at my sisters directive. It's just that my sisters clean freak/germ phobia stuff has already ingrained itself into my nephews brain,he chose on his own not to hold himself and my sister never demanded that he did.The kid panics if a popsicle starts to melt on his fingers,he'll throw the rest out and go wash his hands right away. In the end,i just love the guy and he's really a nice well mannered kid.I simply feel bad that my sister is turning him into an overly sheltered clean freak wuss.Where i live there are alot of kids that i see running around or biking around together having fun during summer,i know my nephew never gets to take part in any of that stuff except for fairly rare cases like gathering/events with other kids or once in awhile if she visits her friend who has a son.Plus, even at these gathering/events,my sister almost always hovers over my nephew constantly telling him to be careful, stop doing this or that,or pulling him away if she feels things are tough rough, even though it's just kids playing. If he falls and say scrapes a knee, that's it,play time is over. I've thought of having some long talk with her,but she so strongly believes this stuff because of things she read or seen,i'm guessing she'll just resent my butting in thinking i'm saying she's a poor mother and pretty much ignore my views anyways. My one hope is that my nephews struggles in school are starting to open her eyes, the teachers have told my sister that he has problems focusing while surrounded by other kids. -
Out of place to tell a sister how to raise her kid?

The secret pedophile comment came from she has a friend she sees once in awhile and the girl has to kids. They invited my nephew to sleep over some night awhile ago and my sister told me she wouldn't let him sleep over because how can she trust the guy her friend lives with even though i think the guy was the father of one of the kids. -
Out of place to tell a sister how to raise her kid?
danzig6767 replied to danzig6767's topic in Off-Topic Forum
It's not that he technically can't play outside,it's that he's always with my sister and she doesn't take him outside much.In the summer it's usually to hot outside for her liking and if say her friend is taking her son to go swimming and invites my nephew,my sister won't go because it's to hot and she won't trust anyone else to watch him close enough at the pool or keep enough sun screen on so he "won't get sunburn and then skin cancer". A few weeks ago i took my nephew to a park by my place and my sister came. She hovered over him and wouldn't let him on any of the play things with the other kids there except this one slide because in her view the other kids were to rough and he could get hurt. The other kids weren't being rough, they were being typical kids having fun.I felt bad,he sat there in the sand by himself or with us,watching the other kids run around having fun together. As for things like bikes or skateboards, way to dangerous in her opinion. He could fall and break his arm or leg and a helmet isn't enough protection for his head as his age.At Chucky Cheese for a birthday party,he could play games, but wasn't allowed in the tubes because he can't be watched and other kids are in there with there shoes off and/or kids in them could be sick.So i tell her she's being insane and she finally says he can go in them for a short time.He gets a small bruise on his knee while in the tubes to which my nephew typically way overexagerated because he's so soft and my sister hugs/kisses him like he just averted death. She of course then tells me see he shouldn't have been in those tubes. -
Sorry, could avoid the long post I have a divorced sister and she has a seven year old son.I end up seeing my nephew quite a bit because i live quite close to my sister and she often needs someone to watch him at various times, either i do or my daughter does at my place. In general he's a polite and well behaved kid,but my sister has rubbed off on him far to much. My sister has a very good heart and loves him dearly, but she has babied him to death since he's been born. Her whole life my sister has been a paranoid type, extreme danger is lurking around every corner.Regardless if it's a beautiful summer day and she's home, all her windows are locked and blinds drawn because she'll have read somewhere or seen on TV that a rapist or peeping tom did something during daytime. She watches all these Dateline shows and reads tons of magazines, always telling me stories she heard/read about of rapes, dog attacks, kidnappings, etc etc,i could go on forever about all the remotely possible things she thinks can/will happen to her or my nephew if she doesn't take extreme caution in everything she does.On top of this, she's a germ phope/clean freak who feels she has to wash her hands after nearly touching anything not hers. So here my nephew is seven years old and he's spent most of his life locked next to my sister. Before her divorce a few years ago,she was a stay at home mom and he rarely left her side. She didn't make friends in her area with woman with kids,so he rarely played with any kids except for gatherings. She doesn't trust anyone to babysit him except family,so even when she knows people with kids,he can't go there to play without her because the other kids dad might be a secret pedophile. This of course led to problems once he started school,he didn't know how to interact with kids very well. He's seven years old and still mainly just plays with stuffed animals and Veggie Tales figurines. He is the most passive boy i've ever seen at this age..If he gets hurt even in the slightest way,say just a scratch from falling down,he cries and cries like he got hit with a baseball bat. He's taken on my sisters clean/germ phobia. The other day i gave him an ice cream sandwich and when it got a bit melted and some chocolate from the cake and ice cream was on his hand,he started making this whiny/grunt sound then asking me to throw the rest out so he could wash his hands. When i told him to just lick the chocolate off his finger,he started to cry because he thought i wouldn't let him wash his hands. He freaks if his clothes get dirty and pees on my bathroom floor/toliet because he won't hold himself when going,it's to dirty. He's not allowed on a bike or skateboard,he might severely hurt himself according to my sister because she read stories of kids who have. She wanted to take her ex back to court after hearing he took my nephew on a short ride on a ATV up north. When my mom watches him,my sister told her he can't be in her fenced in yard alone playing with my moms small dog for even a minute,a kidnapper could hop the fence.I could go on and on. Here and there i try to tell her to let my nephew have more fun and get outside more, but she thinks everything she does makes sense, everyone else is crazy.Plus,if the temperature is above 70 and the sun is out,he might get skin cancer if in the sun to much,of course she had a story she read about to back up this claim.Public pools are germ factories and the life guards don't pay enough attention.Lakes have gross slimy fish in them.I feel bad for my nephew, unless he's in school or at my sisters friend she trusts because the girl is single (she has a kid),my nephew spends almost all his time playing by himself or with my sister which i'm sure is a barrel of fun. He's not my child so i don't try to butt it that muchn, but it bugs me quite a bit ad i'm not sure if i should press the issue more with my sister.Plus, she's as stubborn as i am (family trait),so it might be pointless and just cause problems between me and her because she gets very defensive already when i bring stuff up.

I'm not impressed with Bill Hall
danzig6767 replied to billyhallfan's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I'm more concerned about Hall the defensive CF than i am about his hitting the next few years. He is better out there than early in the year, but he still can take some really ugly angles the balls hit or misjudge whether to come in/go back.Considering all the other weak defensive players,i'd much rather see Hall in LF or the infield and a natural CF out there next season. -
Dye re-ups with ChiSox, 2 yr/22M
danzig6767 replied to Brian the Automator's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I wouldn't pay Dye that much either, but Nixon is really looking to be washed up,his power is in a three year nosedive.Dellucci had a miserable year until getting hurt, but it possibly was just an offseason.I could see him bouncing back,Nixon i think very well could be done. One other thing to consider is that while 11 million is excessive, player salaries are really going up.Guys like Suppan cost 11 million a year, not long ago people would have found paying him 42 million over four years to be pretty silly.A yearly salary of 10 million used to bring a top notch player, now it will only bring a decent player. It'll be interesting to see the salaries free agents fetch this offseason,i suspects we'll hear lots of "are you kidding me"? -
I had a tail for a few months and also a mullet after that in my early teens before finding punk finally allowed me to rid myself of some of those hideous 80's hair cuts Went the black high tops route for a few years myself Also hung at the park for about a year Agree on being able to watch big boxing matches without the big charge, except i gave up on wrestling around age 10.Can't remember if i got my first descrambler in the late 80's or early 90's. Had the auto-reverse Sony Walkman and needed to be careful when using that feature to not have it eat the tape, then being forced to splice the tape back together turn it back in with a pencil. I thought cards were 25 cents, not 50 cents, but i could forget.I remember my mom sometimes would send me to the gas station with a note to buy her a pack of cigs, yes that worked back then. They were like 1.50 a pack and she would give me two dollars,i could buy a pack of baseball cards and some grape Nowandlaters with the change.

Hall is better than early in the year, but he still takes some ugly angles on balls hit to him.I'm curious if the team keeps him in CF next year.If he plays there next year without improving by alot and we have Weeks/Braun/Fielder/Estrada back in the same spots,it's hard to see where any big improvement can come.
-
I got double burned on this game.I was gone and got back with a friend almost right after Fielder made it 5-0.So i tell my friend as he walks in,good news the Brewers are winning 5-0 in the bottom of the 3rd.He asks me who is pitching,i tell him Capuano,he says right away,we'll lose,to many innings left. Like a dummy i ask if he wants to bet,he says sure, how about 10 bucks. Now i should be the one feeling confident, but bam Dunn homers right away in the 4th,my buddy just laughs and says, see i told you,the collapse has started. He leaves before the 6th so i didn't have to sit here watching that smart ass grin on his face, but of course once the game ended and the phone rang,i didn't have to guess who it was. Big mistake assuming simple odds would say we could eventually hold a big early lead.In the future,i'll need an 8 run lead before even considering a bet.

What is Arizona doing that we can't figure out?
danzig6767 replied to AJAY's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
No team can win when their pitching collapses While i don't watch Arizona,i agree with Ennder on our team defense at least,it's not a pretty site. You have a pitching staff in shambles mixed in with a defense behind them that is bad,not exactly a recipe for winning games.Even that crazy potent Yankees offense would have a hard time winning many games with all the runs we are allowing to cross the plate. -

Is Cappy's year similar to Turnbow's last year?
danzig6767 replied to TuesdaysWithRillo's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
How many more times are we going to blame bad luck for why guys and/or the team is struggling? Since the All-Star break last year,Capuano has produced results like you'd be semi-ok with from a 5th starter.Dave Bush is supposed to be another of our bad luck brigade and if only bright clouds hovered over him instead of menacing dark clouds,he'd make that big leap from decent starter to maybe a 2/3 quality starter.Yet,here were are roughly 350 innings and 55 starts into to his career as a Brewer and during that time he has about a 4.70 ERA.Certainly not horrible or a pitcher i'd be actively trying to rid the Brewers of,but i'm not holding out hope that all he needs is an effective lucky rabbits foot and bam,Bush becomes the starting pitcher everyone is hoping for. Plus, teams today can easily review and chart every pitch these guys throw, trying to form conclusions as to why so and so hitter/pitcher is getting poor or good results.I'll admit to guessing here since i'm obviously not in these review sessions, but if i had to guess,my money isn't on Maddux/Capuano saying to themselves, damn i'm throwing the ball really well overall since the All-Star break last year and since May this year, but the baseball luck gods are being so cruel to me. -
How does he swing at that same low and away slider so much? It's gets thrown to him constantly and he whiffs at it constantly,i can't remember seeing a hitter get schooled by the same pitch as often has Weeks gets owned by that slider.

I'm having amazingly bad luck with my 5 month old puppy.First i wasted 300 dollars at the vet last month after it looked like my dog had really hurt his leg after it tangled in the leash while he was running, ended up only being a sprain. The yesterday morning i was in bed around 10:30 and my daughter comes in holding Tyson saying he looks really wrong. He had thrown up twice outside first and now he's on my bed with a constant flow of thick drool coming out of his mouth. He tries to stand up on my bed and falls over right on top of me,just lays there drooling all over and looking like something is very wrong with him.He seems all disorientated and can't stand up,i'm getting very nervous and then i see his normally pink tongue/gums are now purple.Drool has started to just pour out of his mouth and his body is feeling nearly limp. I can't wait anyone and to the vet it is,Tyson literally looked like he was about to die any minute and my kid is crying hysterically.I'm assuming he ate something he found on the floor that he shouldn't have,i had an important appointment for something else at one o'clock so my neighbor took my kid/puppy to the vet closest by that was open. The vet at this place didn't seem the brightest they told me,but took x-rays/blood samples/checked if anything was stuck in his throat. Was taking awhile and he was under anesthetic,so they got something to eat and came back.Vet calls me says x-rays show nothing except a stone in his intestines, but nothing to worry about and his bloodwork is all fine. Then he tells my kid/neighbor that they are closing,he'll give the dog a pain killer shot and they have to take him home because they are closing.I call the vet back as the dog is heading back home,he says he has no idea what was wrong and that i should just moniter Tyson after he wakes up,take him to the 24 hour place if he doesn't seem better.Great stuff for 575 dollars,no answers.http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/mad.gif Tyson gets home and he's either yelping in what seems like great pain or other times laying there on the couch as if he's nearly dead, his eyes followed no movement. After two hours of this,i can't take it anymore,i'm afraid he's either dying or in extreme pain.Find an urgent care place on the southwest side open, explain the whole story and bring the x-rays/paper work from the other vet.Within a few minutes the lady vet asks, did we see if Tyson got bit by a bee or bug.My daughter said there was a bee flying around when she took the dog out to pee.Instantly it made sense,he likely got stung and had an allergic reaction.Symptoms match an an allergic reaction on a dog and why he'd go from normal to looking nearly dead in an hour, given he only weighs 8 pounds. Why would this not even cross the first vets mind? They kept Tyson over night on an IV among other drugs to flush his insides and he was very dehydrated.Plus, the yelping she suspected was basically from the dog being wasted on a dose of painkiller she thought was to high from the first vet.She thought Tyson my be hallucinating. This stay over ran me about 475,but we picked him up at 6pm today and he's home now.I'm so relieved that he's not dead, but annoyed a damn bee sting and one not so great vet cost me about 1000 dollars.I'm calling that clinic tommorrow and giving them a piece of my mind.

We're just unlucky on the road,it's gonna turn around any day now.

Bonds hits number 756; sets record
danzig6767 replied to bball123h2's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Question Does anyone think Bonds regrets using steroids and causing the backlash it created to his career and record,or he doesn't care about the backlash and is fine with taking steroids since it helped him get a hallowed record that he very likely wouldn't have reached without help from the chemist? -
Honest question: Is Johnny Estrada part of the problem?
danzig6767 replied to AJAY's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I'm no fan of Estrada, but i've seen tons of pitches in our pitching crash where he's set up in a certain spot and the pitch gets nailed after missing the target badly.Estrada will be set on the corner and the pitch splits the center of the plate, hard to blame the catcher for that. -

Bonds hits number 756; sets record
danzig6767 replied to bball123h2's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
For such a big record, the chase and final homer was incredibly unexciting,to me at least. I'm not a Bonds hater or a fan of his,but big records can at times be cool to watch. The homer and celebration tonight pretty much brought out a yawn from me and more just relief it's over so the talk about Bonds can end after a week or two of the media debating him actually breaking the record.Talk i will largely be ignoring because i'm tired of hearing the debate and don't really care anymore. He cheated and it's a sizable reason he was able to break the record,if anyone else feels differently,so be it.Hopefully in some years Arod gets the record nobody will beat for a LONG time. -
Hardy just doesn't hit righthanders well.He was horrible vs them his first two seasons and after that hot first two months, hasn't been able to hit righthanders since. My guess is that April/May was quite the abberation and we are seeing something closer to the real Hardy than we saw those great two months. As for other issues,Hardy does swing at alot of junk, even if he does take some pitches.Tonight was a perfect example. In the 6th inning we are down 6-2 with Hart on second and JJ worked the count to 3-1,then for whatever reason he swings at a pitch that was clearly high and ball four,a shallow fly follows for the out.He reminds me a bit of Jenkins in that regard, both will take pitches, but both are still overanxious and not willing wait out pitchers for walks or really good pitches they can handle best. Edit--On a side note,i wish JJ would be moved from the two spot.We have two great hitters that follow Hardy, but he's never on base to drive in and that's costing the team runs.Since he doesn't K that much,Ned has pigeon holed Hardy as this perfect two spot guy, ignoring that he's not on base nearly enough. Then again, getting on base is a team wide problem and there is no great option for that spot.

I have no idea if this year has been abnormal in regards to losses like these, but i think we notice it more for two reasons 1.These games matter so much more than in years past.Typically by mid-July or even earlier, the Brewers are already out of realistic playoff contention so losing games in this fashion doesn't sting nearly as much.We blow a big lead and since we would be 6-12 games back,it's somewhat of a yawn feeling compared to this year where they sting badly. 2.They have happened in mostly the last month or so instead of being more spread out over the whole season.Makes it feel like it is going to happen now anytime we get a big lead.
-
Of course there was luck for the Phillies in the ninth, but a good part of it was self inflicted bad luck. 1.Wise was struggling to throw strikes and ended up grooving that home run pitch because his command was off again, that got the whole meltdown started. 2.That check swing was a strike, but it was very close and is by no means an easy call that the ump screwed up horribly 3.Cordero walked Rollins with two outs and nobody on base, massive mistake when you're leading by three runs. Why he was throwing sliders with a 2-0 count i'm still trying to figure out. 4.Cordero had Iguchi and Rowand 0-2 and couldn't put them away, something that's been happening to CoCo alot in his blown saves..He kept throwing them poor sliders that were easy to lay off except for the one Rowand had the check swing on and the one time he tried the high fastball,it was to high for a swing. It's crazy how often in games Cordero screws up,he has multiple hitters 0-2/1-2 and can't finish them off. 4.Cordero hit Howard which allowed the seeing eye single/poor play by Braun to tie the game 5.Cordero put three guys on base that inning that didn't have to hit their way on.Watch baseball long enough and it's uncanny how often those free passes find a way to score via bloops/bleeders/seeing eye singles.Coco throws strikes that inning,we almost for sure win that game.

Wes Helms speaks out (Booing former Brewers)
danzig6767 replied to AJAY's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Happens at Bucks games also,i don't get it.I never boo anyone, but i guess i can understand booing a guy like Sheffield who made remarks that people could take offense to.When i was at a Astros games this year and heard all these fans booing Carlos Lee,i almost felt some shame as a Brewer fan that this was happening to a guy that didn't deserve it at all. Even worse when our fans boo like crazy at one of our pitchers if he's having a bad game,as if the guy on the mound doesn't already feel bad enough for letting him team down. Then you have thousands of morons who scream at or boo the guy as he's walking back to the dugout.Classy stuff. -
It's the walks lately from our bullpen and starters when we have leads that are driving me crazy. We get a sizable lead and pitchers are out there nibbling like every batter is Bonds of three years ago and the bases are loaded, throw some damn strikes. Cordero today was a prime example.Has two out and nobody on,throw the ball right down the heart of the plate if that's what it takes to not walk Rollins.Instead he throws a couple sliders and ends up walking him.Burrell comes up and again Cordero keeps praying Burrell will swing at those sliders off the plate, doesn't happen and another walk. Make hitters hit their way on,all these free passes while leading games makes me eat Tums like a little kid eats Skittles.Putting three guys on base without them having to hit their way on in a game you have a 3 run lead just can't happen, but it's a growing theme.Everytime these walks happen, you can feel bad new coming.
