  1. Well Tom Haudicourt on ESPN 540 seemed to think that even if Gallardo is ready to go that Melvin and Yost will aid on the side of caution and not let him pitch. Doesn't seem to fit the whole go for it now motto that we are under but Haudicourt said that with the great probability that both Sabathia and Sheets leave via free agency that Gallardo would have to be 99 or 100% healthy. My source that is closer the Gallardo side of it said that Gallardo is the one pushing to get back and he's a pretty driven and stubburn young man. It will be interesting to see what happens. From all accounts Yovani was pretty inpressive/dominate in his sim game yesterday. (It wasn't his first sim game by the way unlike media reports, but just the first infront of the beat hacks.) If I am a betting man I say that Yovani attempts to comeback and the compromise is a relief role. I am telling you though, don't be surprised if Yovani Gallardo starts another game yet this season.
  2. With Bill Hall so far today 0-3 and the average nearing .220 again and Craig Counsell not much better around .230, I am starting to lean towards seeing if Mat Gamel can provide a spark. I am not talking about him taking over full time but maybe allowing him to start a game or two against San Diego and Cincinnati to see if he can handle the position before returning to play the likes of Philadelphia and Chicago. I was totally against playing any of the "kids" before the call-up but after watching the likes of Hall and Counsell continue to have struggles I am leaning towards seeing if he can handle it. If Gamel struggles no loss you go back to the platoon. Anybody leaning this way? Or am I crazy?
  3. Just want to follow up with a couple points. 1. I know Doug Melvin has stated that if Gallardo comes back it would be in a pen role but I have never heard of any reliever throwing 90 pitches in a bullpen session. 2. A bullpen guy has to be a lot more stress on that knee then throwing every 5 days. 3. Yovani Gallardo is eliable to be on the playoff roster due to the fact he is on the DL with a major league club. Even say Gallardo would head down to Nashville tomorrow to throw in the last game on September 1st he would still be eliable due to the fact that he is on the MLB DL and is accumulating MLB service time. Thankfully I have some good placed friends that I personally saw Gallardo's bullpen session August 19th about 4 hours before the game against Houston and it was GOOD. Looks ready.
  4. I got this email this morning from a VERY reliable source. Take it for what it is worth. "A meeting took place this past Thursday afternoon after Yovani's latest bullpen session. Yovani through 90 pitches that included his full series of pitches. At this meeting they have decided to progress Yovani's load program to include simulated games with a eye on a possible return on September 19th. There are still several hurdles to cross before that date but Yovani has definatly aimed for returning to the starting rotation from the onset of his rehab." Pretty exciting news. A rotation of Sabathia, Sheets, Parra, Gallardo, Bush/Suppan is pretty tough.
  5. I guess I was under the impression that a team in a postseason hunt didn't load up their bench, not that I am against it. I thought we would see Stetter and DiFelice for the pen and Dillon and Rottino for the bench. I guess I am really wondering other then the expierence why all these guys come up. Ned has shown that he is going to play who he is going to play and the guys who are going to be on the possible playoff roster need to stay fresh.
  6. Wow I just saw the replay on ESPN. JJ Hardy has some gonads for his reaction towards Prince. This is unacceptable and should have been hashed out differently. Prince has obviously not had the season he has wanted and frustrations happened. Parra looked shocked.
  7. There is a nice poll on the homepage of 540 ESPN. Would you rather have Brett Favre as the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers or the Milwaukee Brewers make the playoffs. I just voted and it is 70/30 for the Brewers.
  8. wow, well Brett Favre saying he is returning to Packers camp is going to ramp up media coverage. Just as I feared but the Brewers just need to keep winning.
  9. I understand that, and I am a Packers fan. But Brewers/Cubs. I figured it would get some major play as long as Favre doesn't show up.
  10. I don't think it is the biggest weekend in terms of any races or the playoffs but I am going off a radio poll that was presented last night on ESPN radio. The Green Bay Packers start training camp officially Monday for the first official practice and the Milwaukee Brewers open their quote on quote biggest series of the season against the Chicago Cubs. Do the Brewers need to come home this weekend and make a statement to remain relevant in the sports media and which is the biggest story Monday night? I was shocked that of the 20 people polled, 19 of them said the Green Bay Packers were the bigger story. That just shocks me considering the position the Brewers are in and the moves they made that the people and going against the team they are chasing would be back seat to anyone. I understand if it was a Sunday and the Packers were playing a real game but training camp. What are you more excited about and is this a crucial weekend for the Brewers?
  11. Gamel's arby clock doesn't really matter anymore this season as the Brewers are already past the 2 MLB Super 2 deadlines. It goes against service time but once you get to September it has no bearing on the arby clock. So that is why Gamel is being discussed so heavily. You would however have to add him on August 31st if you want him on the playoff roster dependent on whether you have a man go on the DL in September. Gamel is a likely canidate IF the Brewers do not trade for a left handed hitter for the bench by the August 31st deadline. Like said above Gamel will likely be added to the 40 man as soon as the season ends anyways to protect him from Rule 5. Gamel though is a likely canidate to be brought up because he is the best "pure" bat in the system. PLUS he is left handed. Somebody brought up Brad Nelson, and while a possibility, is less likely because you have a guy who compares in 3TO. It is a long time to the end of August and I think there will be guys in the system who won't even be in the organization come the end of August due to trades and such. If I am guessing I am saying: Luis Pena - July 31st Matt Gamel - August 31st Tony Gwynn Jr. - September 1st Mel Stocker - September 1st Vinny Rottino - September 1st maybe Mark DiFelice - September 1st
  12. Salome with a quick homer but Mike Jones...WHO...MIKE JONES (for you hip hoppers) is struggling tonight.
  13. I assume that if you are in the organization come August 31 you are eliagble for the playoff roster. Drew Olson said the day of the Sabathia trade that if the Brewers don't go after a left handed bat for the bench at the deadline you will probably see Gamel come up to fill that role at the end of the season. I have no issue in letting him play out the minor league string and then letting him come up and be our main left handed bat behind 3TO.
  14. His son was sitting next to him and Corey was joking while his daughter was scared his son had his head tipped back and mouth wide open.
  15. I am hoping the David Wright surge was caused by them playing and then after they had finished it would tail off. I believe the game there was over by the time Hart hit the HR and that caused a surge of Brewers fans to the computers. I must have voted atleast 500 times today alone and because of the rain here and the game being on I voted all the way to 4. When do we find out?
  16. Phil Rodgers of the Chicago Tribune was just on ESPN radio and he thought the Cubs gave up to much considering that Harden was taken out of his last start due to dead arm and his last 3 starts his volocity was down. If healthy you would have to think that the Cubs really helped themselves, IF he gets hurt you have to wonder what the Cubs were thinking.
  17. Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci was just on 670 WSCR in Chicago and said sources were telling him that the Brewers have begun going after Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Damaso Marte. Marte is going to take a little more to get due to the fact he could be a Class A free agent if he becomes a free agent after the season. What would it take to get Marte? It is interesting that we could have 7 picks in the first 35.
  18. haha, Scott Van Pelt..."What I wouldn't do to be in Milwaukee today, raise a double fister of Miller's and extend Summerfest an extra day." And Michele Tofoya responds, "After a hardy burp just sit back and watch first CC Sabathia get traded to the Brewers, then Richard Jefferson get introduced to the Bucks, and the likelyhood that Brett Favre will do something to trump it all because he won't be mentioned in the Wisconsin press today unless he does." It is a great day to be a Wisconsin sports fan.
  19. The WSSP guys just said that the PTBNL can't be on the 40 man, on the DL, or less then one year of service time.
  20. Interesting that Attanasio said he will lose money now this year. Pretty big risk going after a player that is going to take from the profit to a loss.
  21. I just don't understabd posts/overreactions like this. Why does this one trade need to dictate the future at every position? Up until last year, Ryan Braun was the 3B of the future. Mike Cameron certainly wasn't the CF of the future. These things change. Trades happen. FA sign. Etc. Etc. Etc. How is this overreacting? This trade possibly effects TWO third base spots in our organization. Escobar is unofficially the short stop of the future. That would mean possibly that either JJ Hardy or Rickie Weeks would possibly take over at 3rd base. JJ is going to have to go somewhere anyways. If that is the case then I have no problem with it, I was just making an observation. I think you overreacted to my post.
  22. So basically if Green is involved then JJ Hardy or Rickie Weeks are the 3rd baseman of the future because we really don't have one of those anywhere in the system since I assume Gamel will move to RF or 1B immediately and Green is gone.
  23. Well is Taylor Green in this or not. Haudicourt won't let it die and Agent 39 says no. If they haven't talked to Green yet this is unprofessional on the Brewers end.
  24. Can it get any more official? haha My sister works at flight control for Cleveland Hopkins Airport and says there is a 3 interesting names on a flight list early tomorrow morning. A Carsten Sabathia, a Amber Sabathia, and a Carsten Sabathia III all scheduled to be on a flight arriving in Milwaukee tomorrow morning. I can't believe they are making CC fly commercial, get the big man a private jet ride. haha
  25. Gammons also said it is not completed yet and it's close but not just completing physicals close. I take it there is some work to do on this yet. The ups and downs of the hot stove.
