  1. I am getting tired of us not getting guys in from third with two men out. I hate to say it, but that is DEFINITELY an area where the Scrubs have us beat.
  2. I am guessing that they only allow Gallardo to go six innings because of the limit. I bet in future years he goes more than six, as long as he keeps his pitch count down. I didn't realize that he reached 100 pitches so quickly though, in AAA.
  3. Just got home from the game. Amazing atmosphere and it was pretty sweet when the Cubs score became final, there was a slight cheer in the field level right field bleachers. I love the atmosphere in that area, and everyone seemed into it the whole time. Great win!!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. But they are only scoring on home runs so that's not good enough.
  5. We spend a considerable amount of time critiquing the pitchers every night. Is anyone else getting tired of the poor approach to hitting? The only two guys that ever go with a pitch are Braun and Fielder and they happen to be our top 2 hitters. You can't try to pull every pitch. Watch the swings in our half of the 5th and comment on what you think. I think Estrada does a decent job of going with the pitch. I remember times early on (like April and May) in which I love watching his approach because it is so much different than the guys in front of him (line drives instead of home runs).
  6. I have a feeling this thread is going to balloon up pretty quickly now.
  7. It's scary to see that Brian Shouse has the lowest ERA in the bullpen now.
  8. I have a question. I have now registered at quite a few niches, including ballhype. What is the whole concept of links though? How does that all work?
  9. I have noticed that situational hitting has always been lacking in the Brewers' hitting. Constantly I see guys taking the same approach at the plate with guys in scoring position as they would when the bases were empty or there was a guy on first. That is why I am one of the few people who don't mind Estrada in the five hole because of the different, line drive approach he offers when he is up to bat. This all could have something to do with the experience of our young guys (counting out Jenkins obviously).
  10. Anybody know what time they open on Sunday home games? Is it an hour before the gates open or the same time as the gates open?
  11. I appreciate all the help from this thread. I decided to go ahead and put my new blog in my signature. I will also appreciate it if people that do have blogs would link my blog on their site, as I will do the same for them if I see a Brewer Blog on here. Thanks again for all the replies and keep them coming if people have more to say!
  12. I know a lot of people have blogs that post on this site, which is why I am asking this question. I was curious to how you guys get your blog out there in the open and get it to the point like for instance, Al's Ramblings, got to. I was just curious for some tips and ideas on how to run a successful baseball blog, that I am considering starting.
  13. It's O.K. all good teams go through bad stretches.
  14. Can we put a lock on this thread? Just kidding...kind of. This is all very interesting, but I think we would all agree (including the author of the thread) that maybe we'll see an effect of locking the thread if we do so and we can reverse the curse it might have brought upon us! Anyone else with me on that one?
  15. I have a funny feeling it might be the other way around in Doug wanting to keep Vargas in the rotation for a reason that I hope comes true... Either way I am really kind of nervous about having arguably our second best starting pitcher coming out of the bullpen, where he seemed to struggle in his first attempt at doing that task. Please Doug, please let there be something in the works, and that being the reason that Vargas is still in the rotation.
  16. Very well thought out and very encouraging indeed. I'm still not going to be completely comfortable until that magic number is eliminated though.
  17. I really have a small hope that this might happen with Vargas and maybe a guy like Parra or Gwynn going to Texas for Otsuka. I think that is one of the big reasons that there has been no question of why he is staying in the rotation in front of Villanueva and Gallardo. I wouldn't mind Villanueva replacing him instead of Gallardo anyway, if the innings are that big of a deal. I think Vargas might be one of the guys dealt this trade deadline.
  18. Those parallels are eerily concerning, but I doubt there is much to get worried about. That is really weird though.
  19. Braun has just been raking. He is moving up the ranks of my favorite Brewers, although J.J. still holds the lead. Ben Sheets has been moving up that list also, recently.
  20. This might have been better fit in an earlier thread that was talking about Jocketty leaving St. Louis, but I decided I would just start a new thread on this. I wasn't sure whether or not I should start this thread because of all the negative talk it could bring to the table, but with all the hype around this Brewer team and the number of homegrown players on it, isn't he bound to be offered a GM position sooner rather than later? I was curious to see if anybody had any names for people that might be being groomed to replace him if in fact he does leave. I would really hate to see him go to Chicago, especially with the possibility of one of the minority owners of the Brewers taking over the helm. There are probably going to be quite a few GMs (Cashman and Jocketty in particular) who I don't want to see in Chicago. If Hendry is on his way out, what GMs DON'T you want to see take over the Cubs?
  21. I am really excited about Braun and also think that he is going to be the best to come of this group. I'd say him and Hart are as close to five tool as it gets (fielding being where he is lacking). I think that Pence is the one that deserves it, but with Milwaukee having the sucess that they are, he will probably come out with the ROY. I'm more interested in Fielder chasing the MVP award, although he will need to overcome Reyes. I may be forgetting some names also, but I'm not sure.
  22. Even though you would come to expect it, that is something that the Brewers haven't ever really had in recent times. Yeah you could argue Sheets has been that, but he's never really had the win totals that he has in those types of games this year. Although it does help that the offense can finally score some runs in his support! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. I'd be wondering the same thing if I were thinking that, especially considering that our best pitcher is on the hill and they don't have much of a bullpen today.
  24. Yeah I noticed that too. He seemed more down in that loss than in some of the losses I have been so upset about, and I looked at this as a good loss. He must have really been regretting some of the moves he made at some point in the game. Oh well, go get 'em tomorrow boys.
  25. I kind of wanted them to show Melvin as the letdown was going on. I'm sure it wasn't a pretty picture because not everyone can keep a straight face in a letdown like Yost. I am sick of settling for this "we are still in first place crap" its time to take the next step up, and right now that is their biggest problem. Its time to stop settling for losing. That has been what we have done for the last 15 years!!!
