  1. He did have an ERA below 3 (or right around there) before he was moved to the rotation. There's such a thing as being played out of position.
  2. I wouldn't call Davis a number 5 either. He'd be a 3 on most teams. And I don't think Looper, Suppan, and Bush are 5 pitchers. 4 would be a more reasonable description fort them, Bush being a 3 when he's healthy. Burns and McClung are both definitely 5s.
  3. Start warming up Chris Narveson. This is turning uglier by the minute.
  4. Is anyone else as nervous for this weekend's series as I am? The Cubs are going to come in fired up, and I hope the Brewers do too. Let's get it started off right, although Dempster deals against the Brewers.
  5. I am hoping that stat has something to do with the Miller Park shadows.
  6. 1 vs NYM (1-0) 4 @ CHC (1-3) 3 vs STL (1-2) 3 vs LAD (2-1) 4 @ CIN (2-2) 3 @ PIT (2-1) 3 vs ATL (2-1) 4 vs WSH (2-1) 1 @ SD (1-0) 15-11 8 HR for Fielder 8 HR for Braun 8 SV for Hoffman 24 tiebreaker
  7. RF could be a spot, but I think that if the Brewers traded Fielder this off-season--I hate to even mention this possibility with the way he's played this year--they could keep McGehee at 3B and move Gamel over to 1B. I've always felt that Gamel would probably garner more defensive value at that corner of the infield than the one he is at right now. McGehee obviously won't keep up the pace he is on right now, but I think it'd be pretty reasonable to see him as a .280-.300 hitter with 15-20 HR pop over a full season. Many of the at bats he has had on his current tear have been legit in my opinion, not some fluke, lucky streak that all players experience every once in a while.
  8. We already have DeRosa on the team and his name is McGehee. Post of the thread. I really see McGehee taking that type of track as a player, if he continues the way he's hitting, and this isn't all a fluke.
  9. I was thinking the same thing hawing! I can't say I have a problem with it though. Listening to it on the radio was definitely a lot of fun tonight. And I love Uke, going through the sponsors at the end of the game: "This game has been brought to be you Miller Lite--great taste, less filling, and I need one." Something like that http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  10. I think Mase hit it on the head. We can't overreact because that's where bad deals come up. If the appropriate offer reveals itself, go for it, but until then we don't have many worthy options to improve the starting pitching. The hitting is just fine.
  11. Although I have not seen it, supposedly there was an article in a Wisconsin newspaper about the visiting team hotel being haunted, and it has been complained about before. I will search for the link, but if anybody else knows what I'm talking about, feel free to post it. It's not the first time it has been talked about.
  12. I really hope that today was the only start we see from Burns. Unfortunately, I think I am going to be disappointed. That isn't to say I wouldn't mind him out in the bullpen though.
  13. Yeah, I think it'd be a bad idea too. I just don't see where there is any help, and I was speculating that if they looked at it that way today as well, we could see them make a stronger push for him. Luckily, I believe Melvin/Ash/Macha are smarter than that.
  14. According to MLBtraderumors, Melvin, Macha, and the rest of the brass met today to talk about the starting rotation. It will be interesting to hear if anything is leaked. I still wonder if we aren't going to start seeing a little bit harder push to look into Pedro, although all the reports about the talk between him and the Brewers suggest to me that he doesn't really want to come to Milwaukee at this point.
  15. And to add to that, I'm pretty sure this post on MLBtraderumors pretty much seals the deal for now: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/06/melvin-talk-of-deal-absolutely-false.html
  16. Witnessing these things unfold is agonizing. My bet is on Peavy as the first option. I have no idea about the "fallback" though. I just hope it isn't Penny.
  17. I am getting the feeling that we are going to be greatly disappointed by the end of the night. Whether it's because of what we received/gave up, or what we didn't do. I hope I'm wrong.
  18. And SoCal, in the same article you're talking about, Manny himself claims to have figured something out with those last two pitches, mechanically. It'll be interesting to see how he fares next time out after saying that.
  19. I was wondering if any video of Hoffman's entrance into the last few games has been posted anywhere? I would love to see some footage of him doing so in a Brewers' uniform since I can't make it out to any games any time soon.
  20. It's articles like these that make me want to root for this team even harder. Here's to the turnaround continuing!
  21. I think he's done a great job. He'll only improve with time as well. 30 is a young age to be sitting next to a legend, and I get the feeling he's going to create his own story with the Brewers over the years. He seems to be very detailed in his coverage of the game, and I know exactly what is going on when he's doing the call. I like his voice, and he does a great job complimenting Uke every two innings. He'll be just fine.
  22. Well, Soup only has 57 pitches so I would assume they're going to try to stretch him out. He's due up fourth next inning. Although that four-pitch walk cannot help matters.
  23. That is quite a lineup. Wow. Maybe it had that effect on me because today is the first day of the spring that I've checked into the In-Game Thread. And we thought last year's Sunday lineups were bad. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. I believe it was Provus that said it. I'm impressed this far. In my opinion, if Harry Carey can be a lifetime Cardinals fan and then become the Cubs legend he became, then Provus can do just fine making the transition to the Brewers. He's gonna' be fine.
