  1. I prefer Gamel at first, Hardy at third, and Escobar at short stop more than this infield right now. I think Gamel has the right build to be a first basemen, and he couldn't be much worse than what Prince is right now. But let's just worry about it when the time comes. I'm enjoying the ride right now http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.

  3. Reading this thread sends chills up my spine. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif This one couldn't come soon enough.
  4. Menotti80- I like it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Caballo, that's why I love Bill Schroeder. lol Just for comments like that.
  6. Doug Melvin was in the ESPN booth last inning when Rickie blasted that 2 run HR, and Mark Shipiro was on the phone and they were discussing the trade. Way too much to pay attention to in this telecast. Such a change from Bill and Brian, both of whom I try to not listen to. I'll take Brian/Bill any day over Steve Phillips, I don't care who they're interviewing.
  7. I'm guessing we see Bush for the 6th and/or 7th.
  8. SeriesFinale, that Sheets/Sabathia picture is my new desktop background. Nice shots.
  9. Be honest, who else here knows that this game is already over. Me. Yost should have done the same thing with Bush that he's doing with Hall. Go with the hot hand. Where you pitch at has little influence on how you pitch.
  10. Well Taschner is from Milwaukee so that'd be kind of cool for him if he's involved in the deal. Looks unlikely though.
  11. Theriot is the last type of player that Beane wants too.

  14. Not to mention the fact that there very well may be a trade involving Fielder for an exciting up and coming SP to revamp the staff.
  15. Gammons thinks there's a good chance the Brewers aren't done. Although he was referring to relief pitching help more than anything else.
  16. Yeah, now instead of saying how the Brewers won't do anything to win, they'll say they're doing too MUCH to win. Joe Morgan is one of the worst announcers in baseball.
  17. I may regret saying this in a couple of months, but I look at this deal in a different way. In my opinion, the Brewers had a pretty good shot at making the playoffs without Sabathia. I think they would have even if they hadn't traded for him. This wasn't a trade to make the playoffs - this was a trade to win the World Series. Don't get me wrong, we have a long way to go before we start worrying about that, but it's true. There's a big difference between a Sheets-Sabathia-Parra playoff rotation and a Sheets-Parra-Suppan rotation. A BIG difference.
  18. Without a doubt, Sheets. It's all about loyalty to the guy who has been with the team since being drafted.
  19. This is interesting. I wonder why Melvin has pulled LaPorta out of the deal all of a sudden? That seems very strange to me, considering he has been the most consistent name in all the rumors. I don't understand what the motive is to pull him out of the offer all of a sudden. My guess is that he ends up with the Phillies. Just a feeling I have.
  20. The Brewers just completed a road trip where they did not lose more games than they won. The Brewers are the fourth best road team in the National League. Ben Sheets goes tomorrow. The Brewers have nine more home games than road games the rest of the season. The Brewers are at worst three games out of the wild card going into tomorrows game; at best, two. The Brewers are tied for the third best record in the National League going into 4th of July weekend. The Brewers are beginning a homestand where they play Pittsburgh, Colorado, and Cincinnati.
  21. Okay, I realize this may be a bit premature, but I think it's becoming more and more apparent that Boras isn't going to let Fielder get an extension before he reaches his free agency season. In my opinion, I think the Brewers would do best to start shopping him around a few years prior to his free agency year, but I still think he has two or three years left as a Brewer. With that said, my main question for this thread is who replaces Fielder at first base? My vote would probably be either Laporta or Gamel, but I think Laporta is going to be pretty much set in right field in Milwaukee by the time Fielder leaves, and frankly, I'd be surprised if they moved Gamel to first. So what do you guys think? Is the guy who replaces the Prince still not in the orginization?
  22. ...and that's with the third best record in the NL, a game out of the wild card, and just a few games out of the division lead. I'll take it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. If I had to guess, I'd bet that Brokaw takes over on a purely interim basis until the General Election is over, and then a replacement would be found. However, because Brokaw is not as much of an interviewer as say, Andrea Mitchell or David Gregory, I could see somebody else taking over permanently right from the beginning. These are two names that are supposedly the most likely to replace Russert. I was in shock when I found out, and I still am. Today's Meet the Press was very sad, and I don't think it's really hit me yet that he will not be in that position ever again.
