  1. Whew Looks like this one's going to be a toughie to come out of with a W. I guess less stress when you're watching the game expecting the worst right?
  2. I think they got so many hitters like (or at least projected to be like) Gross already, I think I would have rather traded Gross than Gwynn at this point. Gwynn seems like a better backup outfielder/pinch hitter than Gross anyway, who I think is best served with a consistent spot in the lineup (if that makes sense). We have few hitters like Gwynn and Counsell (although I think Gwynn's a little better at this point in his career), who can come off the bench and slap a single or drop a bunt for a single and then steal a base once they get on. I think we've got plenty of big boppers in the lineup that we won't have many situations where we need a home run. The only guy in the lineup who has below average power is obviously the pitcher and Kendall so I think we'll be fine in that category.
  3. Yeah, good thing he got his shot to pitch in a "meaningful" situation. Maybe that's why Yost put him in there? To shut him up? I don't know, but I'm hoping Turnbow's days are numbered. This just isn't the situation right now for him. I wish him the most success wherever he ends up next.
  4. Well, even when he got in the rundown, he should have at least made an ATTEMPT to stay in it a bit longer than he did. I hate to say it, but right now this division looks like the Cubs' to lose. Oh well, a lot of things can happen in a 143 games.
  5. Well, maybe we're just getting games like these out of the way early this year instead of later like we did last year! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Yeah, I was looking at that too. Wierd. Guess I'm going take what she says with a grain of salt next time... I know everyone's getting on Yost for the Hart baserunning mistake, but I'd say more than 50% out of the time the contact play works, and it was Hart's fault that he didn't stay in that rundown long enough to get Hall to second. And Hall doesn't even the ball in the air in the first place either. I know he's not the greatest manager, but I don't think today's loss goes on him like some of his previous losses (especially some last year).
  7. Gagne's thrown in eight or nine straight games before in his career according to Trenni.
  8. Wow. Could you attribute that to the 'stache? lol
  9. I kind of liked the hit and run play that they put on with Gallardo. Especially on 3-2. Come on now Rickie time to bust out of it.
  10. I'd say Sheets didn't have his greatest "stuff" today (although I only watched the first four or so innings), but I'm glad to see he was still able to beat out a guy like Santana. I'm hoping tomorrow isn't a "B-Game" day, but I have a funny feeling it might be... We don't do well against Perez anyways...
  11. Ergh, had to be in front of Cordero too.
  12. I'm just hoping they learned from last year about how to sustain a season like they were having over the long-haul. None of those guys (with the exception a couple) had gone through a pennant race before, and I think that might have been a big reason that they ended up blowing it in the end. That along with some unfortunate bullpen misuse are what ruined last year. I'm hoping they learned from it and can keep this up through the rest of this season, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  13. I'm kind of worried about this one. Looks like the Reds hit Supp pretty well...
  14. I'm pretty sure that last post could have qualified as a vent! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif But yeah, it sure is nice to start off hot with guys like Hardy and Fielder yet to heat up. And then you can consider we're missing two "key regulars" (Gallardo and Cameron) while possibly missing a third as well (Capuano). I think we just might be okay, but if I learned anything from last year, it's you gotta' take the wins and losses for what they're worth (one game out of 162). It's going to be a good one folks!
  15. It's because they're Cubs fans looking for excuses. It's what they do best.
  16. After dealing with Cubs fans yesterday, I would love to see us seal the series tomorrow with a W just to see the look on their faces.
  17. I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight. This will be my first Brewer experience at Wrigley. Anybody got any suggestions other than to shut my mouth? I'm taking the train in, but I think I'm going to get down there way before the gates open. What's around the area? I know it's pretty nice...
