  1. I wouldn't take the chance, I don't think. Seems a little shady to be worth making an hour and a half trip. I'm not an expert car buyer though.
  2. Regardless of what kind of guy Darabont generally is, it seems pretty daring of him to look at his hit show, decide it could be better, and then take the next step and actually try to improve it by replacing the writing staff wholesale. Most people would probably just let it ride and hope that the writers improved, or maybe add a couple to the existing mix. I don't know that it will work but it's an interesting move. I've actually been wishing that The Simpsons would try this, but that seems unlikely. Sucks for the writers who got fired though. Then again, as has been pointed out, there have been plenty of problems with the writing so far. Although the source material didn't give them much to work with in that regard, according to a lot of people.
  3. Sad to see Carlos go. My favorite 3 recent Brewers were Carlos, Mike Rivera, and Prince. 2 are gone now and Prince is on the way out too. That's life, I guess, but I'm not looking forward to the Prince trade.
  4. Usinger's summer sausage (and whatever other Usinger's products that your friend feels will make the trip successfully).
  5. I agree with Cruz that Macha seemed dry and lethargic. However, I would have liked for him to have provided at least one example of Macha's racism if he was going to make that claim off-handedly.
  6. Thanks for the help casey! Good point about old monitors. I guess I'll give it a shot, I really like how the room is laid out now.
  7. Hi everybody. I'm rearranging some stuff in my spare room and the way things ended up, I have a computer (flat screen imac) next to a cathode ray tube television. After I rearranged everything, I realized that CRT TVs create an electromagnetic field. Does anyone know if that field is strong enough to affect the hard drive on a computer? I like the way things are organized now so I don't really want to change it again but I also don't want to mess up my computer by having it too near to a magnetic field. I assume it will probably be fine because DVRs and video game systems have hard drives but the stuff I have on the computer is far more important than what I have on those and I don't want to risk losing it just because I have the computer placed in a bad spot. Any help would be much appreciated.
  8. Way too many to list. I don't even know where to start. I guess I'll just list Akira Kurosawa movies that everyone should see: Seven Samurai Rashomon High & Low Ikiru Yojimbo Stray Dog Dersu Uzala The Bad Sleep Well Ran Kagemusha No Regrets For Our Youth Drunken Angel Throne Of Blood Hidden Fortress
  9. UHF (the Weird Al movie). The Scorpions. That's all I can think of, unless Major League counts. Pop culture was crap during that decade, I don't think there was one watchable TV show (besides Sledge Hammer!, of course) and obviously most of the top musicians were terrible as well. There were tons of great bands, don't get me wrong, but most of the hits were practically novelty records.
  10. I'm not saying I want him hired or anything but he was the PCL manager of the year in 2008 and had a winning record all 3 years that he managed in the minors (I'm not counting 2002 because I don't know how many games he managed that year when he apparently took over at some point). Here's his resume, he's been coaching/managing since 2000 (mostly in the PCL) and has been the Nationals' 3rd base coach the past 2 seasons.
  11. I wouldn't go quite that far but it is useful.
  12. That's too bad. That's a common ploy that people use to try to commit a robbery without actually threatening people (I mean, asking for something and then running off). He, of course, had to resort to snatching it and threatening you anyway. It's a shame so many people are just d-bags.
  13. Forgive me, but I'm always curious about things like this. What exactly happened? If you don't want to say, I understand, but I'm interested in how things went down.
  14. I'm shocked to hear you got robbed on that corner, what with it usually being so busy and crowded. Did the guy actually pull out a gun or just say he had one?
  15. Hi everybody- The fall TV season seems to be kicking off but I haven't really kept up with what was coming out this fall so I'm not really aware of what new shows people are excited about. Has anyone heard anything about what's supposed to be good? It seems like a pretty dry season but, like I said, I haven't really been following the buzz much. So far, I've added only a few new fall shows to my DVR. The ones I've added: Boardwalk Empire (HBO) (Martin Scorsese is apparently involved, and Steve Buscemi stars) Terriers (FX) (I know nothing about this but it has the faux-cajun guy from True Blood so I thought I'd give it a try) Nikita (CW) (I liked the movie and I saw that it got a couple of good reviews) Running Wilde (Fox) (my wife really likes Keri Russell) I also plan on adding No Ordinary Family from ABC because it stars Michael Chiklis, but I'm not optimistic about it being especially good. It hasn't shown up on my scheduler yet though. So, is anybody excited about any shows coming out this fall? What are people going to give a try?
  16. How much paint are we talking about?
  17. I disagree. No fan base cares if their team gets the most per dollar spent.
  18. What does "; Maine" in the title refer to?
  19. I assume they are either just messing around and plan on throwing them off an overpass or something or they're selling them for scrap. Weber lists the Smokey Joe as weighing about 9 pounds and being made of steel and aluminum. Scrap prices for those metals appear to be approximately 40¢ per pound, which means that if somebody stole 5 little grills, they could make almost $20.
  20. My fear would be that Selig would engineer some deal that allows him to take control of the Brewers again after he leaves the commissioner's office. He's arranged sweetheart deals for his friends in the past so I wouldn't put it past him to work another one out for himself. For that reason, I hope Attanasio keeps the Brewers.
  21. From what Melvin said to the JS, it doesn't sound like Rogers is going to get any starts.
  22. A couple years ago there was a thread here about a lot of grills being stolen from the lot. I haven't heard much about it since but I've never really looked specifically for news about the MP parking lots. Also, 7 coolers? Must have been quite a party.
