  1. from The Hardball Times: link: www.hardballtimes.com/mai...aft-notes/ percent of college/juco players taken: TEAM PCT Cardinals 91.5 Blue Jays 90.4 Athletics 88.6 Diamondbacks 82.0 Rangers 80.4 Giants 79.6 Astros 79.6 Indians 74.0 Red Sox 73.5 Padres 73.5 Yankees 69.2 Rockies 68.0 White Sox 66.7 Marlins 66.0 Mets 66.0 Orioles 65.3 Tigers 64.0 Angels 62.5 Mariners 62.5 Phillies 62.0 Devil Rays 62.0 Expos 60.0 Cubs 59.1 Reds 58.0 Dodgers 57.7 Royals 56.6 Pirates 50.0 Twins 50.0 Braves 40.8 Brewers 40.0 It looks like Jack does live up to his rep of loving HS guys. Wow, only two teams took more than 50% high schoolers and both were well over 50%. I think this is an interesting list so I thought I would post it.
  2. any monetary info? Did he get the $400, 000 bonus he was supposedly looking for?
  3. wait, so he signed already? I have to think that the person who started this thread was his girlfriend or something, wanting to squeeze every last cent out of his arm.
  4. I think you're way off. He won't be a 1st or 2nd rounder next year, scouts don't think he has enough upside.
  5. All you weenies on Central Time need to stay up one hour after this game to prove you're a real man like East Coast MassBrew. I watched Apocalypse Now Redux after the game (which may have been a mistake) so I'm a real man, right?
  6. I heard (I forget where, maybe JS) that Rogers pitched a 2 hit, 16 k game to win the East Maine championship and get his team into the state title game. So, he only has one more game before he can sign.
  7. How many of these top 18 picks will be signed? They all sound inriguing to me. I especially like the round 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 16 picks and I hope they get them all signed. Does anybody know if they anticipate being able to sign all 18?
  8. There is only one right answer! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Seriously, this guy is already one of my favorite Brewers. You gotta love a 5'7 catcher who may already have the best arm at his position in all of baseball. Also, putting up Manny-type numbers at the same school is very encouraging. I really hope Angel makes it to the big leagues. It seems he dropped solely because of height. I'm glad Jack Z wasn't deterred by that.
  9. Very good pick, it sounds like. I realize its higher than projected but it does seem like that is only because of height. Plus, if he can't hit, they can always make him a pitcher, like what happened with Feliz Rodriguez.
  10. hvillefan- they cut him from the 40 man to make room for Jeff Liefer.
  11. what did he do? congrats to him on making his debut!
  12. Clark should never, ever play.
  13. A nesting doll is a russian babooshkah (spelling varies) doll. You know, the wooden stackable egg-like dolls. I have Barry Bonds, the Alou Bros, Ichiro, and Wally Szczerbiak ones. They are nest.
  14. thanks for keeping us updated hardytheman! I didn't notice you were doing that. thanks also for the updates everyone else.
  15. nice, what about the H-Ville game? Who is winning? How is Prince doing?
  16. For the record, I also love hearing that Helms is a butcher in the field, yet should be replaced in the lineup with a player with as many errors in ~ 20 fewer chances. are you talking about Hall or Ginter? Either way, errors don't tell the whole story. (we saw that on Wes' 2nd hit on Sat., when the 3rd baseman muffed it and they gave Wes a hit.) Wes has very little range and isn't hitting well. Hall would likely be a better hitter and would have more range, tho he may make more errors, that would be offset by the extra balls he got to, imo.
  17. yeah, Rickie's been hit by 10! pitches this year.
  18. If you give Overbay 500 AB's, with half of them in Miller Park, I see him hitting 40-50 doubles.---Ramblings, 11/26/03 maybe so, but don't I recall you liking Clark quite a bit? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif plus, 40 doesn't usually lead the league, does it?
  19. I know, but he could have at least said, "Nice game by the rook, but we'll get him next time." It just seemed a little harsh but perhaps I am reading too much into it.
  20. always a good sign! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  21. oh yeah, my little brother was telling me about that awhile ago. He surmised it was from a penal code, like 187 is in Cali for murder.
