  1. Brady ALMOST got burned going home on an infield hit for the 2nd time in the game there. Good throw and he's out by a mile. Heck, anything close would have had him. true, but it's good to see the Jays give back that run that Rickie gave away.
  2. Phelps has to earn his money here.
  3. yeah, wave 'em in wendell kim. I don't understand why Yost is having Wise pitch a 3rd inning. Seems foolish. bad error by Rickie. oh well.
  4. Actually, it looks like it might be a problem with the 2003 stats, as Jenkins' and Davis' stats for that year are also missing. (Helms', curiously, are fine, as are Enrique Cruz's.)
  5. Not a big deal, I just thought someone might like to know and I didn't know where else to put this.
  6. So, any update on lil' Weeks? I really hope they bring him in the fold.
  7. "upset that chicks don't dig his new mesh tanktop" good one. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif Wow, I'm surprised that you banned him Brian, though he was definitely maddening. However, if the only criteria for a banning was making people mad, I surely would have got the axe back before the election. He must have really been getting to people for that decision to have been made. What I found most frustrating was the attitude (which has been echoed recently on the radio by Larry Bowa) of, "well, I played, so I know better than you" being used to justify each of his opinions. Then it turns out that he never actually played college ball, but just worked out with the team. I mean, dozens, if not hundreds, of us played high school ball too and so would have had as many "insights" as he did about that kind of thing. (That's when I realized how serious the situation was, when Brian contacted the coach at whatever college that guy was claiming to have played for. He doesn't seem like the type to do something like that lightly.)
  8. Geez, I saw those numbers and looking for the big news. I thought someone got traded, fired, etc. Me too. I thought Overbay had been dealt or something, which would have been quite a surprise.
  9. Ben Grieve was up with the Cubs for a week or two, now he's down in Iowa. He went 0-4 on Sunday when I saw him. I still hope he makes it back to the majors with some team.
  10. whoops, didn't see this before I posted a thread about it. Still, I think that the Brewers moving their top pitching prospect (#25 prospect overall in baseball according to BA) to the bullpen probably deserves it's own thread.
  11. I wonder what number Prince will wear. I doubt it will be 66 or 37.
  12. I'm glad they put Salome in Helena. I hope he's the starter up there, I feel that he's a much better prospect than Opdyke. It will be interesting to follow Angel's career.
  13. are they gonna get this one in no matter what? Or might it be delayed till a later date? I was really looking forward to watching this, too bad about the rain.
  14. Jemile Weeks, who, at 5'9 and 160 pounds dripping wet and his brother giving him a noogie, becomes one of the smallest players in the system, with possibly only KB giving him a run for his small man money. what about Angel Salome? He's heavier than Jamile, but he looks 5'5, tops.
  15. I don't think Rickie was considered any more of a risk than any prospect. In fact, he was pretty universally considered a sure thing and many people were even comparing him to Joe Morgan and Hank Aaron.
  16. Toby, you made a very good case against Braun in that debate with (I think) Bill the other day . . . where was this? The only part of the site that has been loading for me the last couple days is the forum, so if it was an article, I must have missed it. It sounds interesting.
  17. I like the Gamel pick alright, but Braun's a stinker and nothing else really stands out. yeah, Gamel looks like a nice pick. I hope you're wrong on Braun, but do you mind explaining what it is you don't like about him? Or do you just think the Brewers could have got someone better at 5? I would have preferred Maybin, but other than that, I think he's defensible as the next best position player.
  18. My favorite pick in the draft was the second round one. Not a fan thus far, eh? I like the Weeks pick and the Braun one is at least defensible if they like his bat as much as BA appears to.
  19. For real? Nice.
  20. I hope they grab Weeks the more I think about it.
  21. I'm hoping they'll be more like the Waners or DiMaggios.
  22. Sickels has the cubs taking him in the 5th round. I hope the Brewers get him at some point in the first 10 rounds if he's still around.
  23. I have already written three stories for the three players that I feel are most likely to be selected by the Brewers, and have sent those stories to Brian who is poised to post one of those three stories when the pick is announced. Hey Patrick, will you post the other two stories in one of these threads after the draft so your work doesn't go to waste? I always enjoy reading your reviews of players.
  24. BA says this morning that the Brewers asked Tulowitzki how he would feel about a move to third and that he balked at that idea. They (BA) say the Brewers have moved on to Braun.
  25. bj- I believe that standing that far up in the batter's box is usually an attempt to be able to get to breaking balls before they complete their break. Alfonso Soriano does that too (or used to, I haven't watched many Rangers games this year). The trade off is that you have less time to react, as you say. So, only guys with great bat speed/very quick wrists are likely to be able to get away with standing that far up in the box.
