  1. no, they got him. it was only by about a half of an inch, but he was out. IMO a tie goes to the runner and it looked like a tie to me thought it got him by a split second....if his cleats were a quarter inch longer he might have been safe.
  2. Was JHJ safe? no, they got him. it was only by about a half of an inch, but he was out.
  3. probably would have been a hit if mcgehee wasn't running on the play. just some bad luck on the hit and run. he is still kinda useless though.
  4. as much as I enjoy picturing the cards on a golf course in three weeks....it's worth noting that they've cut the braves wildcard lead to 6.5. the same braves team that probably hasn't left philly yet tonight, plays a double header in new york tomorrow, and then goes to st louis for three this weekend. 6.5 is still a lot, but the braves are struggling and have some injuries to their staff (I know they've got ridiculous youth/depth in the rotation, but still). Definitely not a great spot for the Cards, but they have to be feeling a lot better about their chances than they were 10 days ago.
  5. nice of the ump to wait until braun is set in the box and carpenter is about to pitch to issue a warning...
  6. Guys, that ship has sailed. Is it really the best use of our time to rehash the Furcal issue?i instantly regretted bringing it up. don't really know why i instigated a discussion I was sick of having. maybe someone would have anyway, but my bad.
  7. You say that as though we wouldn't be better off with Furcal than our current SS. Care to expound? Because you can put me in the category of thinking we needed to get him. The difference between Furcal and Yuni hasn't been that great. Due to furcal's random brewer-killingness, I guess I'd rather have him, so he could stop doing the damage. But if I had to guess his numbers on the Cardinals against teams that arent the Brewers might be worse than Yuni's. Either way, the difference isn't that great. Yea, he might have been a small upgrade, but I'm sick of hearing about it (especially since he always makes it come up against the brewers). That was the gist of my post.
  8. insert comments about blowing it by not trading for furcal and greinke grooving too many pitches.
  9. oh my lord how does lance berkman score on that. come on corey!
  10. McGehee complained after his first K too though, which I'm sure factored into that. Lots of close, borderline pitches to Casey, but the ump has been consistent with that call all night. protect the plate, casey.
  11. because yuni's a better hitter than Counsell, so he wanted to PH for Counsell? Not saying it was the right move, but that doesn't seem to be too ridiculous of a thought process. good work by frankie to get out of that. ump with an assist. If you are going to let Green play 2B you don't need Wilson, so Wilson can come in to play SS meaning you can hit Kotsay or Kottaras (or even Schafer or Gomez) for Betancourt.I don't disagree with that, just trying to find the rationale. Maybe he doesn't want to use all his bench infielders. Maybe he wants to be able to pinch hit for Yuni in the 9th inning in a big spot if he comes up instead of leaving it to Josh Wilson

  13. The new puppy rolled onto the remote right as telly started talking about hairston....what happened?
  14. gotta love the astros. i was as upset as most people after the cards series, but i told myself as long as it's not under 7 games by the series in st louis there's nothing to worry about. keep it up tomorrow
  15. http://www.bonusriders.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Bart-Starr.jpg
  16. It was not a good bunt, but with the infield playing where it was it would have been damn near impossible to drop down a sac bunt. and who didn't see that coming. Time to leave before all the incoming negativity. Not that I'm not upset about the game, but i'd prefer to focus on 9.5 game leads.
  17. if yuni pops this bunt up, this place is going to burn to the ground.
  18. Is it wrong to pinch run for Fielder here? I'm not saying I would, but that's a thought that has to run through your head. Probably not with Counsell or Green being the only options (and the potential for extras)...but if Gomez is there do you think about it?
  19. or it proves that morgan has already been used this game.
  20. also, the team's using off days to skip narveson's next few starts. He'll be in the bullpen until Sept 3. a lefty! IN THE BULLPEN!
  21. in what world is takashi saito going to command $5M? Considering he's putting up similar numbers to last season, except in half as many games, he's 41 years old, and has never been paid more than $3M....i can't imagine the market being much higher than what we signed him for this year.
  22. nothing against gomez, but I think I'd rather just get weeks back. don't think wilson will be seeing too much PT once that happens.
  23. got a feeling this one won't last too long, but i wanted to sneak it in.... http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/wis/sports/m-baskbl/auto_original/3875173.jpeg
