  1. How on earth do you swing at that pitch? Not scoring here will be a huge blow.
  2. It was a freak injury, plain and simple. Could have happened on any pitch. As for why he was in there, if he doesn't pitch tonight and then gets lit up in a save situation tomorrow, everyone would be complaining about why Counsell didn't get him any work over the past few days. Bottom line is it was just a bad break.
  3. No, but we're also guaranteed to lose 60+ games. That's a given. There are absolutely gonna be spells of losing just as there are gonna be spells of winning consecutive games. The fact that we were shut out in two of seven games causes this overreaction is ridiculous. If you think that's why people are overreacting, then you're not paying attention. The starting pitching has been awful, defense has been very sloppy and the bullpen just got significantly weaker.
  4. OK, that's enough. They were just shut out in back-to-back games by the Cards and Cubs, and lost their All-Star closer. Be quiet. And? The Dodgers were shut out in back to back games and have Jansen playing like crap. The point is the same. It's two games, in the FIRST week of the season. Are we really going to live and die on EVERY pitch? It's just so damn tiring with the negative posts. Dang, man. If you aren't negative after back-to-back shutouts from our rivals, getting trounced by the Cubs at home, seeing every single starting pitcher struggle to start the season, losing Yelich to injury and losing Knebel for a significant amount of time....all in one week, kudos to you. The rest of us experience normal emotions.
  5. Amazing to have three identical 10 inning games in a row.
  6. Exactly! Personally, I stay away from the Cubs series because of their fans taking the joint over. Why pay those ridiculous prices as a Brewer fan to have an unenjoyable experience? Excellent point and I agree completely. I'd be kicking myself if I spent 2x a normal Brewers game to get my heart ripped out the last three games.
  7. Hard to believe at the time this was posted, the two worst losses of the year would happen in the next 48 hours.
  8. I can't believer people actually think any type of "strategy" would work. Limit to Wisconsin zip codes? There are no Cubs fans in Wisconsin? Half the people in my office (Milwaukee) are Cubs fans. What about the secondary market? You can't regulate that. If the Brewers ever did pull a stunt to try to limit ticket sales to Cubs fans I'd be more embarrassed than seeing Miller Park filled with Cubs fans. That entire concept reeks of a minor league organization. Just keep winning and more Brewers fans will show up.
  9. Are Mench, Nix and Cordero available? Yes, but only if the Brewers throw in Corey Ray with Luc.
  10. Can you imagine if Mejia turns out to be the second coming of Mike Piazza?
  11. This will kill any leverage the Brewers had if they still plan on trading Lucroy by the deadline.
  12. Well...for all of those complaining about this deal, you might just get your wish. There must have been a lot of contract negotiations with Lucroy going on at the same time.
  13. It's funny, I've been reading reactions from Mets fans on Twitter. They don't want to give up Nimmo and feel they're giving up too much in a TdA/Nimmo/+1 trade for Luc. Neither fan base appears to be happy with this proposed trade (Mets fans are delusional though).
  14. Ha...fake tweet got me: Buster Olney @BusterOlneyESPN Sources: #Mets are acquiring C Jonathan Lucroy in exchange for OF Brandon Nimmo, C Kevin Plawecki and P Max Wotell. #Brewers
  15. Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't understand why the Brewers would want d'Arnaud. I would just as soon keep Lucroy for the next 1.5 years than trade him for d'Arnaud (major downgrade at C) and Nimmo (flip a coin prospect).
  16. Stearns holding on to Lucroy past the deadline would be playing with fire. I think we can all agree that Luc's trade value is at an all time high right now. The longer Luc is a Brewer, his value will trend nowhere but down. Can you imagine if he has some fluke injury after August 1? What if he hits .220 next April? I get holding out for the best deal and we still have time before the deadline but if Lucroy is still a Brewer on 8/2 I'll be extremely disappointed.
  17. Ok, so we may play .500 baseball from May through September but we'll still end up 15 games under. I can't remember being so apathetic about Brewers baseball. The team obviously isn't going anywhere this year and they seem to have no direction of where they're going. It feels a lot like the Cubs of years past - a mix of some older decent players with a lot of average/below average players.
  18. I gotta be honest, I would take our lineup on May 19th, 2002 (106 loss season) over the AAAA team we have out there today: 1. Alex Sanchez .273 2. Ronnie Belliard .247 3. Jeffrey Hammonds .297 4. Richie Sexon .256 5. Geoff Jenkins .233 6. Tyler Houston .243 7. Mark Loretta .167 8. Paul Bako .292 9. Ruben Quevedo .000
  19. Boers and Bernstein just like to stir the pot. And Bernstein in particular won't take calls from anyone who disagrees with him.
  20. Never thought I'd be wishing Carpenter was still in the game over the Cards bullpen.
  21. If game 1 is early on Saturday, a lot of tickets will be taken off the market because a lot of fans (such as yours truly) will be able to go to the Brewers game and still have time to make it to Madison for the Badger game.
