    Between Braun's peak and Hamilton's peak, I would say Hamilton has a better chance of replicating it.

    I would be down with reworking the FA compensation system, but a world-wide draft? If you slot the draft, then you would miss out on many of the top world players, as I doubt Yu Darvish/Dice-K would want to play for the slot money when they could get exponentially more in their native land.

    I think you're giving up the two best players in that trade. And I hate Yankees. But the Wang name opens doors, like Magglio doors. Foor Ichiro, if you're looking for power, what about Vlad? I think he's in line for a bounceback year, and the Angels' youth has to sprout soon. Otherwise, a good source for power this year is catcher. Maybe McCann+ for Ichiro?

    If/when Prince goes out and knocks another 50HR, I hope we extend him at a contract much like this (on top of his current deal, that would buy up 2 years of FA). I don't know if Satan would allow that, but it would line his pockets well and keep Prince happy. And a happy Prince is a happy clubhouse (not that an unhappy Prince is an unhappy clubhouse...)

    Actually, when Josh Hamilton was drafted, wasn't the most apt comparison Joltin' Joe D or the Mick? But what I meant when I said that was more along the lines of him pitching. He had high 90's heat before blowing out the elbow.

    I'm seriously hoping for some huge blockbuster deal, where we ship off all four guys, and get back Raef LaFrentz/Jamaal Tinsley/Keith Van Horn...with pix....of Bea Arthur. But seriously, I think Charlie V. has to be tied up, send out RJ and Sessions, and get Joe Alexander seriously involved in the offense.

    I thought the Rangers still were paying part of the contract, as technically he never left the Yankees or some sort of legal jargon. Either way, great humor. BTW-imagine again what the Detroit Tigers would look like if JuanGon had accepted the $100+ million contract they tendered him, before turning it down because it didn't provide for his family well enough.

    I love Da Bush, but that Bush, he no good. I always thought he would be a JJ Hardy-type. Cannon at short. Figured he would develop power. Instead, he became a loose cannon. Maybe he can make a Josh Hamilton-type return as a pitcher in a few years. He did have quite the arm, before it blew.

    I'll throw a name out there for discussion. Cal Ripken Jr. If anyone's record could be aided by 'roids, it's his. As for Frank Thomas, the guy has gone on record COUNTLESS times DEMANDING steroid testing because it tarnishes his numbers that he has to be compared to them. I would say Greg Maddux would use 'roids before The Big Hurt!

    Well it would also open up a spot for Cole Gillespie (after moving Braun to RF). But I would bank on him improving markedly, and hold on him. What type of pitcher could we get for him? Not one that he's worth.

    I was joking about the light-hitting part. The KID could mash at 18. But really, given his competitive nature (stories of him shagging groundballs for hours before school in Miami....everyday), are we really that surprised? I will admit that since A-Rod was using, all but a very select few are fair game. As mentioned earlier, this has to make Frank Thomas a HoFer, and possibly a first-ballot. His numbers are beyond reproach, as are Ken Griffey Jr's.

    Well to be honest, a guy languishing in A-Ball is a pretty sore sight. As for the belief that Braun hasn't "shown" what he can do, need I remind you of his BABIP (especially vs. lefties) during his record setting rookie year? If anything, I would say we haven't seen Josh Hamilton's true talent level. Prince v. Adrian...PRINCE! I like the Hall comp, and considering Jhonny is most likely going to end up at third, it's pretty apt. Hart v. Willingham??? When did Josh Willingham become a speedster?
