  1. Surprised Hurdle hasn't brought in the IF, Ned-Style
  2. Good luck getting one! PR for Sheets - Liefer???
  3. Here we go, Ben, get the bunt down! EDIT: That sucks
  4. Boy, do I look like a dumb-ass now - sorry, don't know what I was thinking there.
  5. Grieve's in the line-up today. Appears Ned has broken one of his own rules: it is illegal to start Ben Grieve against lefties.
  6. I was at the game also Sect. 114, row 14, seat 8 , and a very interesting thing happened after Podsednik's last K. Of course, he got all angry-like, but then he handed his bat over the top of the dugout to a fan sitting in the first row, if he only would have thrown it 13 more rows up to me! EDIT: I don't recall Bernie sliding down the slide, I doubt that he did, but the park was quite nuts at the time, with a nice crowd all on their feet.
  7. Wes Obermueller= mini-John Snyder
  8. Whoa, it was a joke. I read Moneyball, and I'm reading it again. I never said he wore the I'm a genius hat, I was kidding because that is basically what he has been crowned as. Bill James created this, now Billy essentially gets all the credit for it, which I don't really like. Nonetheless, it was not an attack on Billy Beane.
  9. Maybe relief pitchers aren't quite as disposable as Billy thinks they are, he better watch it or his "I'm a genius" hat might fly off his head in the windy city.
  10. Watching him go 0-4, right tyguy? Actually, he's one of the reasons I'm going to tomorrow's game - the only other game I've been at so far this year was Sheets' 18 K game v. Atl. I live about 4 hours away, so I only make it to 8-10 games a year.
  11. I second that one, and never understood why they don't.
  12. Good to see Grieve back in the lineup today.
  13. I'd prefer to see Kiesch in the DH spot, but I assume they brought Liefer up to be the DH in these series'. Winable series if they win tonight, as Washburn is very beatable.
  14. - Who could forget the classic "sweep suits" article in the MJS - www.jsonline.com/sports/b...w62401.asp "Jamey Wright was wearing a bright red, pin-stripe suit, black shirt and rose-colored glasses. David Weathers sported a shiny silver zoot suit right out of the Roaring '20s. Chad Fox stepped out wearing a colorful plaid outfit that could have been made from the curtains of a seedy motel. Allen Levrault wore an electric aqua-color outfit that came without batteries included. Curtis Leskanic opted for a canary yellow suit with matching shirt. And, last but not least, Jeromy Burnitz donned a leopard-print model that would have stood out even in the San Diego Zoo."
  15. That was just plain ridiculous. Where's Michalak? I wouldn't be surprised if he's up here tomorrow, I sure hope so.
  16. Not a totally terrible pen, just Ben Ford! But its always one bad person that ruins it for everyone. What the hell, now its Santos? Whats the use of a day off if you're not going to use your good relievers? Wheres Burba!!! Edit: NOW Burba is tossing - it's about f'n time. As far as I'm concerned Ford can't board the next flight to Indy or wherever - he's flat out terrible.
  17. Maybe he'll have extra innings to do it - stupid-azz Ben Ford!!!!
  18. Here's an interesting story from the MJS about a guy who we will most likely see take the hill tonight, and a guy whose cause I have championed for some while: Dave Burba www.jsonline.com/sports/b...225173.asp
  19. Kinney: 6 IP, 8 H, 2 BB, 3 K, 4 ER, 2 HR (ND) Brewers win 7-4 after roughing up StL's middle-relief, which my be equal to or worse than the Crew's. And then I awoke from my slumber... But I think they manage to win this game somehow.
  20. Good point, he comes submarine from the far-right side of the rubber. He maybe a good specialist.
  21. I know, since we were talking about GWB, I figured it'd be nice to drop the name of a campaign contributor of his that use to own the rights to the Astros' stadium.
  22. I' m ready to get back to the game, I just felt that needed a response. The Crew obviously needs to get Unit's pitch count up in the first 2-3 innings. Jenkins has had success against him and he will probably need to tonight. Also, which Davis wil we see? Houston at Miller or Milwaukee at Enron? Very winable game.
  23. I don't personally remember applauding the selection of Cheney to "round out the ticket", it just added another Oil Man to the posse, and Condi Rice was later added to really get things oiled up. Cheney is a nut. A useless ChickenHawk, like the rest of the administration - Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Bush, Rove, Ashcroft. Cheney and Rove run the country, and he also made a tidy sum of $174, 000 last year from Halliburton. Oh well, they will lose in Nov. anyway. I now have to get back to watching my beloved Fox News.
