  1. I didn't care for the History Lessons, but when Rock did the serious promo, I enjoyed it. Rest of the show was mostly pretty weak, and I don't really like the idea of Michaels as special ref. I also was hoping to not see any Ryder until after Mania.
  2. The playoffs aren't really designed for the "best team" to win, they are just to determine a champion.
  3. After watching Smackdown, I think it might make sense to just flip Bryan and Ziggler at the draft once Bryan loses the belt at Mania and put him on Raw and have Ziggler feud with Sheamus on Smackdown. They seem to work pretty well together, and with Cena coming back to the title picture on Raw once the Rock stuff is over, I want Ziggler to get away from it since he has no chance of getting anywhere any time soon on Raw.
  4. I'd rather just move everyone up a spot and put Gomez in the 8th spot if the plan is to start Morgan in RF.
  5. Is anyone buying the Ring Of Honor iPPV tonight?
  6. He's pretty much the best option they have at this point.
  7. I definitely like the versatility of Cabrera once he gets the requirement to be a 3B. The positional scarcity is a big gap between 1B and 3B.
  8. Maybe a silly question, but have you read Moneyball? I also love Alan Schwartz's "The Numbers Game".
  9. That's a convenient excuse for them to use, I guess. Barrett had been doing a good job prior to the battle royal from hell, though.
  10. I have no problem with the expansion of the NCAA field since that's a single-elimination tournament anyhow. I would have been more in support of this if it were at least a three game playoff, especially in the situations where a team wins the wild card by a mile and still has to "earn" their playoff spot.
  11. If they are certain he was using, I think they should leak it to demonstrate that they caught him and he got off because of an incompetent courier. That fact alone would overshadow any problems with the actual program when it comes to media coverage, and I would think that would be their goal. It's not like they really care about catching guys, it's about looking like they do.
  12. I'm not a big fan, either, due to the randomness of a one-game playoff. You could have a year like 2009 where the Red Sox won the Wild Card by 8 games and then they could lose that one-game playoff and be out. I certainly wouldn't consider the team that lost a play-in game to be a "playoff" team.
  13. Hopefully the whole decision will be leaked soon. I'd assume MLB will leak it if they feel as strongly in private as they do publicly.
  14. It's just melting up here by Wausau.
  15. Haggard still kills it live. I saw him with Kristofferson last year and it was awesome. Better than when I saw Dylan in '08.
  16. This is definitely one of those times when I ask myself why I started watching again.
  17. Been a while since I have done this... 1. The Mountain Goats - "Pure Sound" 2. Sublime - "Greatest-hits" 3. Badfinger - "Sweet Tuesday Morning" 4. Micah Schnabel - "Sid and Nancy" 5. Will Johnson - "In a Motionless Way" 6. The Mountain Goats - "Source Decay" 7. Kris Kristofferson - "Help Me" 8. Bob Dylan & The Band - "Ain't No More Cane" 9. Bloodkin - "Cute Lil Gravedigger" 10. Mark Kozelek - "White Christmas" 11. The Black Crowes - "Only a Fool" 12. The Hold Steady - "Your Little Hoodrat Friend" 13. Son Volt - "World Waits For You" 14. Leon Russell - "Prince of Peace" 15. Husker Du - "Divide and Conquer" 16. Red House Painters - "Over My Head" 17. Ryan Adams - "Wonderwall" 18. The Clash - "Remote Control" 19. The Whipsaws - "The War" 20. John Paul Keith & The One Four Fives - "She'll Dance To Anything" 21. Johnny Cash - "Flushed From the Bathroom of Your Heart" 22. Pavement - "Slowly Typed" 23. Flight of the Conchords - "Leggy Blonde" 24. The White Stripes - "A Martyr For My Love For You" 25. Smog - "Rock Bottom Riser"
  18. Born To Run Nebraska The Wild, The Innocent, & The E Street Shuffle Darkness on the Edge of Town Those are my favorites, but I love all the albums from Greetings From Asbury Park through Nebraska. I don't care all that much for Born In The USA because I think the production sounds dated. Same goes for most of his output after that. For his later career stuff, I also love The Rising. Since that album he has been pretty average.
  19. Ziggler was at the point that he was above MITB level and they just cooled him down so much. Unfortunately, my fears from a few months ago turned out to be correct. Now we are talking about him being in a match with jobbers like Miz, DiBiase, Swagger (who just brings him down), Slater, Gabriel, etc. I'd rather just scrap MITB if those are the guys that are going to be in it. Doing two matches with so many guys would just further show how horrible the talent level is. Speaking of jobbers, I don't want to see any Zack Ryder at Mania.
  20. Bruce Springsteen The Stones Lou Reed Tom Waits
  21. That makes me feel bad for Orton. And I just hate where Ziggler is right now.
  22. It's just spring training stuff. I imagine he is in the best shape of his life, as well.
  23. I think him saying that stuff is part of the angle, so I don't have a problem with him saying that stuff. Of course, the major issue is that neither of these guys can heel on the other because Cena is the top dog babyface in the company and because Mania is in Rock's hometown and it's impossible for him to get booed. It's hard enough for a returning guy to get booed (see Jericho), let alone for a guy that couldn't get heel heat for the last couple years he was active, no matter how hard he tried, because people love the guy. I don't know, maybe the point of last night was for Rock to be funny guy until Cena came out and got him to take the match seriously. Or something? All I know is that last night was the first time I was wishing that Punk/Jericho would be the main event, and I was hating that feud before. I still don't love it, but it at least feels like a main event program now. As far as being a Rock fan, I generally am one, though I certainly preferred Austin. I loved the Rock when he was a heel, before he got so enormous. Kurt Angle is probably actually my favorite guy from that era, and since. He was a spectacular worker, as well as excellent on the mic. If he wouldn't have been made a comic character for so long he would have been able to draw better. If Austin's neck hadn't gotten injured by Owen, I can only imagine how many 5 star matches he and Angle could have worked together. Austin would likely have surpassed Flair in a lot of peoples' eyes if it had happened like that, because people forgot that Austin was a top worker before the real boom period hit.
