  1. I though the Rock segment was pretty weak, aside from the Cena portion of it. I never thought I would say that, but I'm backing Cena at Mania, too.
  2. I hope he keeps the new catchphrases to a minimum. That's where he loses me. Obviously, "If you smell" and "Finally!" are fine, but the boots to asses and lady parts and whatever other ones were he was trying to get over before Survivor Series kind of suck.
  3. Slow news week. I assume it picks up when Rock gets some stuff to trend tonight. I will love his return until his first #b2a mention, because I just think that's lame.
  4. Wow... Cutter was awful last year. I just looked at his numbers for the first time and they were brutal.
  5. I think it's more of a formality because of RR being in his last year.
  6. Even if Braun had won based on doing something like prove the sample wasn't even his, he would never be able to clear his name. Once that genie is out of the bottle, it doesn't go back in.
  7. I would make the same prediction for myself. This is definitely the least I have cared about the Oscars in quite a while.
  8. Sounds like he might pull a Clemens and join a contender at midseason.
  9. I figured that was the case. There was certainly no reason MLB would leak it, and I would imagine only a couple people even knew in the league office.
  10. As far as actually fixing the system, there needs to be out of competition random testing, and more frequent in-competition testing. The stuff with couriers and whatnot is really just window dressing for the fact that the whole system is flawed. In a perfect world, there would be out of competition and in-season blood testing for HGH, etc. Also, I would love to see the numbers regarding players who receive a TUE in order to get around the system (obviously some of it is necessary for a few, probably). I know the number of players who get a TUE in order to take amphetamines is quite high. Anyhow, I think the entire system is basically a PR sham (also fueled by USADA fear, as pebadger said in another thread), and that the Braun situation is just the tip of the iceberg as far as the problems.
  11. Buzz is awesome. I'll be far more bummed when he leaves than I was when Crean did.
  12. I would guess he won't be working for them much longer now that his identity is known.
  13. I have had the movie sitting on my hard drive for like a month and still haven't brought myself to watch it yet. I enjoy the book so much that I can't do it. My girlfriend liked it, though.
  14. ESPN basically has Wal-Martized sports "journalism". They control the entire process. They make the "news", then deliver it through their machine of TV, .com, and radio. There are debate shows, headline shows, etc. and the whole thing is pretty much a work. Skip Bayless would be the biggest example. He plays a character on a TV show that does worked debates - same goes for the morons on their NFL, MLB, and NBA shows, and worst of all the radio hosts. My favorite is when they discuss whether such and such a thing should be a story... the discussion of which MAKES it a story. These same discussions then are carried out through every platform that they work on. They are a business, not some beacon of journalism.
  15. Good. If Trenni got a scoop or something, she would be even more insufferable than she already is to listen to. Also, I'm all about leaving the guy alone.
  16. I'm pretty sure Badgers fans did in 2000 when they beat Indiana in the last home game to get to 8-8 in the conference. "On March 5, 2000, in a game no Badger fan will ever forget, Wisconsin needed a home win over the Hoosiers on the final day of the regular season to lock up an NCAA tournament berth. The Dick Bennett-coached Badgers squeezed out a 56-53 win on national television, and thousands of crazed UW fans stormed the court." I don't recall what IU was ranked at the time, but I don't think it was very high. It was Al McGuire's last game as a broadcaster as well as the last time Bob Knight coached against the Badgers, plus Duany Duany had an awesome game. It's possibly my favorite Badger game ever. EDIT: Looks like IU was 14th in the AP poll at the time of the game.
  17. He wouldn't have been able to clear his name even if they had proven that the sample wasn't his. It is what it is. I don't care if he tested positive, I'm just glad he's not suspended 50 games.
  18. Yeah, why put the guy who has worked harder than anyone on the roster of the past year on the Mania card? Ziggler better get a HUGE push once this Jericho crap ends.
  19. There is no way that Ezekiel Jackson or Otunga should get a Mania payday. As far as Rhodes vs Show, I hope not.
  20. I think they'll do a 6-man tag with three heels vs three faces to decide control at Mania.
  21. Henry showed tonight why they better fire the push back up now. The yelling at Big Show stuff was awesome. I assume they are doing Henry/Rhodes vs Show/Shaq at Mania, with Cody eating a pin from Shaq. That is going to suck.
