  1. To be fair, they were just waking up from the nap that HHH gave them. And what seemed like the 20th Daniel Bryan/Big Show match of the past month. As far as there being good Divas feuds, I do have high hopes for Beth and Kharma. That's the only one, though.
  2. This was the actual reaction to Tamina's big win: http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/396972_797858219065_49402874_36280271_444073668_n.jpg
  3. Tony Phillips was awesome, especially in his 30's. Hall has been pretty bad in two of the last three seasons. Really, he has been bad to awful in all but three seasons in his career.
  4. I don't know if anyone here is interested, but the PW Torch is running a pretty awesome special for their VIP service: http://www.pwtorch.com/2012special/ Only 10 cents for a one month subscription. I pay the full price and feel like I get my money's worth from the audio stuff alone. I highly recommend it.
  5. Stubbs is pretty young yet and plays good defense and is a very good basestealer when he does get on, and is a patient hitter. I don't think they are ready to give up on him or platoon him at this point.
  6. Miz is a pretty poor worker in general, and this was extremely bad. I'm shocked Truth wasn't injured.
  7. I hope Jericho winning was with an eye toward having he and Punk not fight much in the Chamber match. Minimal physical interaction between the two prior to Mania is necessary. It's just incredibly irritating when you have jobbers like Miz and Kofi (and Truth before he got hurt) in that match last night and have Ziggler eat the pin. Jericho doesn't really need a win. He's Jericho.
  8. Pure garbage tonight, almost all around.
  9. I have been watching the new stuff mostly since last Wrestlemania season, and while I enjoy it, it's mostly because I enjoy the art form. There are very few forms of entertainment that I enjoy as much as well-done pro wrestling, which is why I have been watching lots and lots of old stuff. I eat that stuff up. I do think that once a wrestling fan, always a wrestling fan, though.
  10. I think everyone in this thread would be happy if they told clean, concise, focused stories like those again.
  11. It's too bad. She's one of the few Divas that can work a match. I am honestly looking forward to the Kharma/Beth Phoenix feud. That should be some solid stuff. As far as WWE vs TNA, it's honestly not all that much better, IMO. There are some aspects of TNA that I really like, and some that annoy the hell out of me. I feel the same way about WWE. TNA does have guys like Roode, Storm, Aries, Angle, etc. that are pretty excellent and a bunch of really good promo guys. I do think that creative has improved a bunch there in the past few months. It does suck that they seemingly build toward TV with their PPV's, but WWE does the same thing sometimes. I certainly wish that the old guys that can't work like Hogan and Sting would just go away, but WWE just had Foley hobbling around in the Rumble and is going to have a broken Undertaker work a prime-slot match at Wrestlemania (and may have Foley in a match there, as well). In my opinion, the gap between the two companies isn't as wide as some make it out to be. WWE isn't lighting the world on fire right now. Sure, they have Punk and Bryan as champs, but they don't even push them as main eventers. They did a champion vs champion match in the first hour of Raw. They are pretty much making a joke of Bryan in my opinion, and he's clearly just a transitional champ that is being booked with zero legitimacy. Punk is most likely just holding the belt for a while until Cena finishes up with Rock so they can put it back on him.
  12. At heart, the testing policy is a PR thing, so MLB will definitely protect it.
  13. I saw this joke on a friend's Facebook and it fits with this topic, I think: Stephanie McMahon and Triple H are walking down the street pushing their baby in a stroller when Stephanie's arms get tired. "Hunter," she asks, "will you push the baby?" "No," replied Triple H. "He's too small and he can't pop a crowd."
  14. I'd be interested, as well.
  15. If he signs a minor league deal like Izturis, by all means. I don't think that's happening, though.
  16. As far as there being main eventers in FCW, the disconnect I have is that one has to trust that WWE will make them main eventers. I mean, I am totally down with guys like Mike Rotunda's kids (among others) becoming stars (they probably will, since they also have Barry Windham's sister as their mother and Blackjack Mulligan as their grandpa), but I can't possibly expect that WWE sees them as stars, or that they won't botch them once they get to the main roster. Look at the excitement people had about Brodus Clay. He was viewed as a main event-type of talent as a heel, and has a gimmick now that is strictly mid-card/comedy. I enjoy it, but there's not a high ceiling for it as a money drawing act.
  17. It's also standard for every player to be "in the best shape of his life" going into spring training every year. They don't have anything else to write about, unless someone has Lasik.
  18. It's different for every person. Some people have stronger addictions. It's not like I am saying he will go into full-blown addiction, but it's a possibility. I am a recovering alcoholic myself, who quit drinking for four years, and then got to the "I can handle it now" mode, too. Eventually, it devolved back to worse than originally, until I got into a car accident and broke both of my legs among other injuries and was off work for three months. I'm not blaming him or saying he's a bad guy, but I don't see how you can discount it completely. It's part of the man, just like a pitcher who had Tommy John surgery.
  19. http://rangersblog.dallas...ers-josh-hamilton-h.html Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, recovering from alcohol and drug addictions, had a relapse this week in his quest to remain sober. According to individuals familiar with the episode, Hamilton drank alcohol on Monday night in an area bar. The circumstances that led to Hamilton's use of alcohol could not be determined. In a statement, the Rangers said they were ``aware of a situation, but we don't have further comment at this time.'' This was Hamilton's second alcohol-related relapse in just over three years. In January, 2009, he drank to excess in a bar in Tempe, Ariz.
  20. Bryce Harper will take them there eventually.
  21. It made sense when you had two guys who could draw money that could be champions.
  22. It also hurts that they hotshot the belts so much. I think I read somewhere that if Rhodes holds the IC belt for two more weeks he will have had the longest reign as champ since like '04.
  23. They have devalued the big gold belt so much, they may as well get rid of it. I'm all for unifying the title for good. It's an opening match belt. They should just bring back the TV title instead. Of course, they make the mid-card belts useless, so no one that holds one gets any bounce from it, anyhow. They are at least on the right path by having Rhodes carry the IC belt. That should be a big deal. They seemed to be doing the same with the US belt when Ziggler had it, but then they put it on Ryder, who just sucks, and then threw it on Swagger who is dead right now.
  24. Oh, definitely. I was watching some 2000 PPV's recently and that stuff was so annoying. The big difference is that they had Steve Austin and The Rock on the top of the card.
