  1. The rest of this show (aside from Brodus) has been just terrible. Hopefully that pays off, at least.
  2. My favorite call, too. I was listening to that game in a car while there was some sort of family party (I want to say baptism or something) going on inside. I was a 12 year old kid and I needed to hear the radio call.
  3. I had a friend who saw them in Buffalo and I believe he said something like "Evan should go solo again".
  4. Definitely the guy that made me love listening to football on the radio. I still do it to this day. TV on mute, Wayne and Larry on the radio (especially if Al Michaels or Joe Buck is on the call). RIP.
  5. NOOOOOO. Please don't watch that garbage. You will never forgive yourself. Put the DVD down. I watched it, but barely made it back alive. Wow, was that dreadful. On the bright side, I didn't pay for it. I can't believe what they made that brand into, and I can see why Heyman was miserable.
  6. Didn't one of those Evan Eschmeyer Northwestern teams make it?
  7. They are trying to stay under the luxury tax threshold and sign some pitching. They were pretty close to it before this move.
  8. Looks like pretty much nothing was said aside from thanking the MLBPA and some cliches about adversity. Buster was denied his Hollywood ending of Braun on one knee offering the MVP to the baseball gods/writers in return for their forgiveness and for his own peace of mind.
  9. Watched the two ECW "One Night Stand" PPV's today for the first time, since as a diehard fan of the original ECW, I couldn't bring myself to watch them before, and I had nothing to do today. First one was pretty good. Second was just pointless for the most part, aside from the tag match with Foley/Edge/Lita vs Dreamer/Funk/Beulah, which I enjoyed quite a bit. One thing I did love was the crowd booing Mysterio. I absolutely can't stand the garbage that is WWE Mysterio, so I loved when they booed the 619. I'm also going to subject myself to the 2006 December to Dismember, which I have heard is completely atrocious.
  10. Supposedly now that the Red Sox have shed Scutaro's salary they are going hard after Oswalt.
  11. What time is this dinner supposed to start? Has anyone said they will be live tweeting or anything?
  12. I like that they are turning him heel, what I don't like is that he isn't getting any help in making it work.
  13. Greinke. I generally lean toward the more power-type of pitcher, especially when he's younger and has a history of better durability (basketball excluded). Once Marcum loses a couple MPH off his fastball, he could enter into Suppan territory. A LHP with mediocre fastball velocity can get by for quite a while (Wolf for instance), but a RHP with the same problem generally can't. I really don't think these guys are that close, talent-wise.
  14. Buster Olney is a moron. It's like he wants sports to be like the movies, or something.
  15. It seems they are hell-bent on burying Bryan especially.
  16. So, Daniel Bryan is turning heel, but Cole still rips him? What exactly is the point of having him be a heel commentator if that's the case?
  17. Bob Nightengale says the Rangers are still in on Fielder: http://content.usatoday.c...-texas-rangers-agenda-/1 I would still imagine that Baltimore could get in as well.
  18. They have a HUGE TV deal. Plus, I would let Hamilton walk, anyhow.
  19. That's what I am saying. I think that's a pretty solid recovery.
  20. http://content.usatoday.c...-texas-rangers-agenda-/1 The reality is that key members of the Rangers' front office had a strong idea for the last month they would sign their future ace. It was just a matter of how much it would cost. The Texas-sized truth is that while the Rangers now have Darvish, they still want Fielder, too. But they also know publicly divulging their intentions will drive up Fielder's price tag and spoil their surprise attack. This is from after the Darvish signing.
  21. Some fans have been building this strawman argument for how they could have signed Fielder all offseason already, so I don't expect that to change regardless of what the terms of his contract end up being. He didn't want to stay in Milwaukee. That's why he hired Boras. The team made essentially a token offer to him, to say "hey, we tried". That's about it for the story. There hasn't been any new offers made since that one, the team and Boras have barely had any contact all offseason, and they committed money to other players. I don't know what more the team has to do or say to get the point across.
  22. It would go along with Bob Nightengale's column yesterday saying that the Rangers are definitely in on Fielder, regardless of Darvish.
  23. The problem I have is that I don't trust RR to play Gamel and stick with him if they give him an old guy on the roster, as well.
  24. Boras made out on that one pretty well, considering people were saying he would come cheap to the Yankees/Tigers lately. Obviously in hindsight he should have accepted arby, of course.
