  1. February 19th can't come soon enough after that Packers game.
  2. He also fell off the wagon in public during the 2010 season. He's an addict, and that is very real. It's one day at a time.
  3. Yeah, I agree with this. It's really how the rebuild with the Brewers went, so I imagine Jack Z was following that plan. Of course, they never traded a pitcher like Pineda, but they never really developed one aside from Gallardo, and they were a lot further along than the Mariners were when he came up.
  4. He's a 5 star guy.
  5. I like Montero a lot more than Young.
  6. Montero was #3 on the BA list last year, IIRC. He's a total stud.
  7. Well, maybe they know something about him health-wise. Similar to the Rockies with Jimenez.
  8. Those two equal a pretty huge upgrade to their rotation in a matter of minutes.
  9. Booker T is a disaster. It's the worst when he says stuff like "he's just doing what he needs to do to win" about a heel instead of ripping him. Then you basically have two pro-heel commentators, and thus you have no heels getting any heat... which is basically the entire roster of heels. The only heel that's over in the whole company is probably Henry.
  10. I think Izturis is possible, because you will have times when he is the designated bunter, doesn't get it down, and makes an out. He'll also probably bunt twice a game in the games he starts.
  11. http://hardballtalk.nbcsp...th-club-option-for-2013/ Not surprising, but it's a slow news day. EDIT: Added salary info.
  12. Josh Mathews is really better than Cole, IMO. The lead play-by-play guy should always be pro-babyface.
  13. It's because Heyman is a guy that Boras feeds "info". He amazingly also had the news that the Orioles have interest in Johnny Damon. Guess who represents him?
  14. The swing has never been about going down to the post and doing back to the basket type of, it's more about getting open jump shots. So, you get those painful nights when they can't make one. Or, you get the 10 minutes without a FG stretch that happens in virtually every game.
  15. Even in the more practical sense of what a commentator is supposed to do, which is get the storylines over. He kills matches, buries guys, etc. JR was the best at getting the point across, at making things feel important, and stuff like that. I'd take Tony Schiavone over Cole. Lawler definitely should be a heel. He was so good at it when he was and when he cared about the show.
  16. Shocker that Heyman had that news.
  17. Yeah, he signed with the Dodgers in March - 2 years for $45 million.
  18. Dependence on 3's is pretty standard in college hoops now, and it makes sense with how close the line is. Duke is especially a team that is really dependent on it, even though Coach K was resistant to it for a while. Obviously if you don't have anyone that can shoot, it doesn't make as much sense, but theoretically the shooters on this team were supposed to be better.
  19. I could see the WWE putting more than a handful of potted plants in the crowd on Monday with Funkasurus signs to try to get it over via the follow-the-herd/"trending" theory. The "trending worldwide" garbage is really old. Monday's show was like an entire show devoted to getting something to trend, regardless to whether the tweets about it were positive or not.
  20. That's very possible. Braun is also a wild card if he gets suspended, the team goes something like 20-30 in those 50 games, and he hits like .200 in his first week or two back. Or, possibly more likely, the team plays like .550 ball after he comes back and they miss the playoffs. I could see him being scapegoated if that scenario plays out.
  21. I would go with Gonzalez, Gamel, or Narveson. Gonzalez isn't going to hit, which should be expected by everyone, but he'll also probably make an error or two on a ball that it would take Yuni a car to get to. Gamel is replacing Fielder. He already seems disliked/distrusted by part of the fanbase on top of that because he didn't hit like a house afire in his previous limited opportunities. He's been hurt before. Narveson is a pretty standard fifth starter, but the normal fifth starter performance becomes amplified when the overall talent level of the team isn't as high.
  22. Seriously... my girlfriend flew in from California to visit me a month ago. During that time, I watched Wrestlemania VI AND XVII. Granted, we also watched some Mad Men and other stuff... but still. If she can watch crap like Being Human, I can certainly watch wrestling. I had a car accident in October so I have been off of work since then, and aside from watching lots of NFL Network, MLB Network, and Storm Chasers on Netflix, I have watched a lot of wrestling. Granted, it's pretty weak most times, but it can be fun to complain about.
  23. At least the team has first world problems now. You've been around here for a long time and must remember how bad other offseasons were, where us fans were going in hoping for .500. There were years where I HOPED they could just make it to even 76-86. Now, were wondering if the reigning MVP/top 10 hitter in the game will be suspended, and where the guy who gave the team two 1.000 OPS seasons and another just below is going to sign, and knowing it won't be within the division. Or whether they can extend the guy who won the Cy Young a couple years ago. No, they're probably not going to win 96 games again, but they're not going to be the Pirates, either.
  24. I don't think it's fair to just give Fielder a pass. He could always have signed. He can sign with someone right this second if he's freaking out. He hired Boras, not the other way around.
  25. I think he's fine with it. He could always fire Boras if he wasn't. I think Larry Bowa's take on the situation on the same MLB Network show was far more accurate: he's going to be fine. Most likely they are waiting for resolution to the Darvish situation to see if they can get a better bidding war going on. If he signs by Wednesday, then I would imagine Fielder to Washington gets done relatively quickly.
