  2. You guys are right...I stand corrected and deleted my post. No HD in the basement...looked like it went off the wall in the back. Checked the DVR upstairs...sure enough, first row.
  3. How about that small ball. Paulino was lights out, but he's missing his spots now.
  4. nice send by Fischer...get that windmill going and challenge that arm!!!
  5. Kendall might be able to get a few ground rule doubles in Williamsport...if they let him use aluminum.
  6. There is no other team in baseball as well positioned to win the 2003 World Series.
  7. How about a Gallardo win tonight and a split in the next two...that would be a winning road trip. Not bad after the horrendous start. Have to like the chances with Yovani on the bump...but that short porch in left can make for a funky outcome. From the Journal... 2B Rickie Weeks RF Corey Hart LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder CF Mike Cameron SS J.J. Hardy 3B Bill Hall C Jason Kendall RHP Yovani Gallardo
  8. OK I went back and watched the last several innings last night. I defended BA earlier in the thread. Even though I could care less about the superstitions...I will give you he went a little too far. Continuing to talk about it when Schroeder was obviously not happy made the entire dialogue uncomfortable which makes it harder to enjoy. I do like BA and think he's good, not just relative to others, but he stands on his own. However I will grant you that yesterday could have been handled better. Mea culpa.
  9. I didn't see the game live today, just radio, but I'll stand by my long held contention. Unless you have Extra Innings and actively see and hear the other teams broadcasts, you will have never understand how good we have it with BA. The guy is very solid. As for talking about the no-no, I didn't hear it, but I find a ton of humor in these silly superstitions. As he mentioned in his blog...are you better off mentioning it, or having people tune out because they aren't aware of what is going on? I side with BA.
  10. Untuckem!!! Nice comeback Todd!!! Great effort by Looper tonight...Difer and CV too. Good to see.
  11. He was out, but what was the softball toss from Billy?
  12. Somewhere out there Earl Stephenson breathes a sigh of relief...now let's get the W.
  13. Coffey Time!!! C'mon Todd...don't let the bright lights fool you. Let's untuck this thing.
  14. Win it for... http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/146356f3a7eca035be4047b9c6908157f70b569_t.gif
  15. When you have very good stuff and you can't make pitches at critical points in the game after cruising though several innings as he did on numerous occasions last year, yes, I'd call that mentally soft. Granted, he had a great June last year cruising in games where we was staked to a big lead and maybe this year it's just working the April rust off, but that meatball he threw to Werth last night was far too typical of the type of pitches he threw in critical moments of games last year. He also hasn't proven he can get deep in games, when his velocity often seems fine in the middle innings. Call it what you will, but my unscientific often irrational view from 2000 miles away watching far too many Brewers games on TV sees it as mentally soft.
  16. If you read the entire blog, he had a very concise and truthful evaluation of the season to date. He called out the team and even himself. I found nothing wrong with it. The guy is right. If you want to read into it that he was calling out Julio...so be it. The guy won't be with the team by the time they get back to Milwaukee. If he's calling out Parra, so be it as well...the guy is mentally soft and it showed last night. If he's calling out himself, that's fine too. His timing has seemed off leading many including myself to suspect he's not 100% healthy. The homers were great, but 3/5 hits were little dribblers in the infield. I'm not ready to call the end of the Braun slump yet either. If anyone has earned the right to speak out it's Braun. He's delivered in the team's biggest moments and has signed a contract out farther than any other Brewer. I'm sure there were a few stretches last year when the team went 4-9 and they still won 90 games. No reason it can't happen again. The 4-9 just isn't hidden among 162 games yet. No reason to panic, but no reason not to call it as he sees it.
  17. I love Rickie, but he had a hand in that blown call. The ump did miss it, but if that throw is a strike to Fielder the ump likely calls him out. It would have been an easier call. Still should have been an out, but a good throw gets that call. As an aside...Fielder has looked pretty solid over at first so far this year. I'm not sure about the side arm comment. Many 2B's make that side arm throw across the body, partially to keep the sliding runner down. Gantner was awesome at that. I think the correct point you made was about throwing off the back foot...that seems to be an issue for him. It looks like he's flicking or aiming the ball rather than "throwing through the target". Maybe he needs a dartball lesson from Augie (for those of you that caught that discussion on Sunday).
  18. Not saying these reasons justify not bringing in your best reliever when he would be the most useful, but it's probably why they don't. Hey monty...great post, that is exactly my point. I read all the logic you posted and I find it to be the typical flawed conventional baseball logic you'd hear from the press or a manager. The risk of it going wrong is why they don't do it...they can't handle the heat. At some point someone is going to step up and start using their reliever that way and it will improve their odds over the long run. It's why the Cubs are better off with Marmol or the Yankees used to be with Rivera...when they were the best reliever they had but weren't yet annointed as the 9th inning guy. It allows their teams to use them in the highest leverage situation. It's also why many Brewers fans are rooting for the Cubs to move Marmol to the closer spot. Let him rack up the saves...we'll have a better shot at them in the 7th & 8th.
  19. He did pitch ok on Opening Day, but he also pithed well today. Citi is certainly a pitcher's park, but I thought he showed good location and movement today. For a 5th starter, hopefully he'll be adequate. If today is any indication, he's at least capable of that. That's 5 straight quality starts from the starters...in late May last year when the starters started pitching better, the team got cooking. If 3-4-5 start hitting close to normal and Hoffman stabilizes the pen...things may get better.
  20. I didn't like Suppan hitting there or coming out for the next inning, but I will give credit to Macha for the quick hook. With a lack of faith in the bullpen, I can see the rationale for trying to squeeze an extra inning out of Suppan. However the loss of the at-bat, the 4th time through the lineup and the pitch count all argue against it IMO. I do like them bringing in the best reliever in the highest leverage situation and letting him go. This church of the closer stuff is overrated. Put your best reliever in the highest leverage spot in the 7-9 innings. If 3-4-5 are up in a close game with 2 on in the 7th...why would you let your all-star closer sit in the pen? Especially one that K's people. Not that we have that right now....more of a MLB issue in general.
